5 POWER SOURCES AC: Unwind the AC cord and extend it to its full length. Insert the small end of the AC cord into the AC socket on the side of the unit. Insert the other end of the AC cord into any convenient 120V AC, 60Hz household outlet. NOTE: The AC plug supplied with the unit is polarized to help minimize the possibility of electric shock.

7 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Slide the Function switch to the RADIO position to turn the unit on and select the RADIO mode. 1 Slide the BAND switch to the AM, FM or FM STEREO position. 2 Rotate the TUNING control to select a station. 3 Adjust the VOLUME control as desired.
8 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Slide the Function switch to the CD position to turn the unit on and select the CD mode. 1 Press the OPEN/CLOSE area to open the CD compartment door . Place a CD on the center spindle, with the printed label side facing up. Close the CD compartment door .
9 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Adjust the VOLUME control as desired. Playback will continue until all the tracks on the disc have been played. 5 T o stop playback before the disc ends, press the STOP ( ■ ) button. The disc will stop and the display will show the total number of tracks on the disc.
10 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) During CD playback, if you wish to pause the disc momentarily , press the PLA Y/P AUSE ( ¨ ) button. Playback stops but the disc continues to spin and the dot in the Play/Pause indicator will blink.
11 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) After you insert the disc into the CD player and the total number of tracks appear on the display , you may press either the SKIP/SEARCH ( ) ❶ or ( ) ❷ button to select a specific track for playback.
12 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Slide the Function switch to the CD position to turn the unit on and select the CD mode. 1 Press the PROGRAM button; “01” will blink in the display . 2 Use the SKIP/Search o 1 or n 2 button to select the first track to be programmed.
13 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) NOTES ON PROGRAMMED PLA Y : • Programming is the ability to preselect the order in which a series of tracks will be played. • Each track may be stored in the program memory as many times as desired. • As each track is played, its track number will be displayed.
Caring for Compact Discs • T reat the compact disc carefully . Handle the compact disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny , unprinted side of the compact disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc.
