4 Humidifier Operations Y our new Emerson humidifier is designed to satisfy home humidity requirements through the principle of ev aporation of w ater into the air . After water is added to the bottle and positioned in the humidifier , the filters begin to soak up the water and become totally saturated in appro ximately 30 min- utes.
W ARNING : For your own safety , do not use humidifier if any parts are damaged or missing. 1. Place humidifier on a flat le vel surf ace in area of house where most humidity is needed, or an area which would lik ely result in moist air being circulated throughout the house, such as near a cold air return.
To fill this humidifier , close the control cov er and remov e the bottle cov er . T o remov e the w ater bottle , lift the bottle straight up and out of the cabinet. The water bottle is designed with an “E-Z- Fill Side-Cap”. Remove the “E-Z-Fill Side- Cap” on the side of the water bottle b y twist- ing counterclockwise .
Operating Humidifier Controls The operating controls of y our Emerson ev aporativ e humidifier are located on the top right of the humidifier . The controls are f ound under the smoked co ver Lift the control cov er by placing y our finger in the round cutout and lifting.
8 Operating T ips for Best Performance 1. Position the humidifier at least 2 inches from any w all and aw ay from an y heat registers. 2. Do not restr ict airflow from entering or e xiting the humidifier . 3. Use liquid EP A-approved bacteriostat to retard bacteria growth that ma y cause odors and ma y be har mful to y our health.
9 Replacement and Care of Filters W ARNING: T o reduce the risk of shock or injury from moving parts, always unplug humidifier before removing or replacing any parts. CAUTION: T o help retard bacteria growth and keep maximum efficien- cy , the filters should be replaced at least once a season, or more often under hard water conditions.
3. a. Remove the two filters and dispose of properly . b. Clean internal par ts of the humidifier per the “Cleaning Y our Humidifier” section of your o wner’ s manual. c. Install new filters inside the cabinet with the glue beads on the filter f ac- ing the center of the cabinet.

Never use flammable, combustible or poi- sonous materials to clean your humidifier . T o reduce the risk of scalds and damage to humidifier , never put hot water in humidifier .
Bi-Weekly Maintenance Removing Scale 1. Pour one 8 ounce cup of undiluted white vinegar into the cabinet. Let solu- tion sta y in for 20 min utes. 2. Clean all inter ior surfaces with a soft brush. Dampen a soft cloth with undi- luted white vinegar and wipe out the cabinet to remov e scale.
