7 Before using th e appliance Rating plate This is situated on the lower front frame of the appliance and can be seen upon o pening the door . Alternatively the rating p late m ay also be found o n the back or top of some models (where applicable). The appliance must be pr otected by a suitably rated fuse or c ircuit breaker.

9 The hob Using the hob The gas hob has differe nt burner sizes to suit different types of cooking: To ensure maximum burner efficiency only use pots and pans with f lat bases appropriat e to the burner size used. Larger burner ( Rapid) - use a lar ge pan for food such as chips.
10 Warning: If the ignition button is not pressed immediately a build up of gas m ay caus e t he f lame to spread. To turn off any burner 1. Turn the control k nob t o the off position. T his is s hown by a large dot. When lighting any burner, ensure that it is lit before you leave the app liance.
11 The grill CAUTION – Accessi ble parts may b e hot w hen th e grill is in use. Youn g children sh ould be kept away. When you firs t operate th e grill y ou may hear som e sou nds as the burner heats up, th is is qu ite normal and is not a fault on the appliance.
12 The grill pan and handle (LPG models onl y) The grill pan is supplied with a removable handl e. To attach the han dle, place the wirework under the cut out in t he pan so that the metal plate hooks over the top of the gr ill pan. Slide the hand le to the l eft and over the central bump o n the grill pan.
13 To remove the h andle, press the button o n t he handle w ith the t humb and pivot the handle slightly upwards and towards the right to remove from the brack et. Protect your hands when removing the grill pan handle. Always remove the grill pan handle during grilling.

15 The main o ven Heat zones There are zones of heat wi thin the oven. The temperatur e in the midd le is the gas mark you have c hosen. Th e top of t he oven is slightly hotter a nd the lower shelf sl ightly cooler. The base of the oven is quite a lot cooler.
16 • Do not push dishes too fa r back as food wi ll burn if it overhangs the burner flame. • Stand dish es on a sui tably s ized baking tray on the sh elf to prevent spillage onto the oven base and to help reduce cleaning. • The material and f inish of the baking tray and dish es used affect base bro wning.
17 Cooking chart The oven temperatures are intended as a guide only. It may b e n ecessary to increase or decrease the temperatures to suit individual preferences and requirements.
18 Roasting chart INTERNAL TEMPE RATURES – Rare : 50-60° C; Medium : 6 0-70° C; Well done : 70-8 0° C MEAT GAS MARK COOKING TIME Beef/ Beef boned 5 25-35 minutes per ½kg (1lb) and 20-35 minutes .
19 Slow cook The slow cook s etting giv es a very low heat in the oven. It is p articularly useful when y ou are c ooking soups, stews and c asseroles because the long slow cooking w ill make cheaper, to ugher cuts of meat more tender. Some f oods such as pastry and biscuits are not suitabl e for sl ow cooking bec ause the temperature is too low.
20 • Only cook joints of pork if you can make s ure, by using a meat thermometer, that the temperature inside the joint is at least 88° C. • For good air circulatio n always stand joints on a rack in a roasting tin or cass erole. • Thaw all fr ozen meat and p oultry before you cook it.
21 Care and cleaning Before cl eaning alw ays a llow the appliance to coo l down. Cleaning materials Before using any cleaning materials on y our appliance, check that they are suitable and that the ir use is recommended by t he manufac turer. Cleaners that contain bl each should NOT be used as they may dull the surface finishes.
22 Cleaning the hob Clean the hotplate top using a mild abrasive. Tak e c are not to damage the spark electrodes. If the spark electrodes are da maged the burners will not light. You can remove th e pan supports, burner caps and b urner crowns to clean them.
23 Cleaning the shelves and grill/oven furniture All r emovable p arts, can be washed in the dishwasher. The grill pan, gril l pan grid and oven shelves m ay be c leaned using a soap i mpregnated steel wool pad. Soaking f irst in hot s oapy water will make cleaning easi er.
24 Something not w orking Maintenance must only be carried out by a co mpetent/qualified person. Do no t try to alter/modify the appliance yourse lf, as this could be dangerous. We rec ommend that y our appliance has an an nual g as safety check carried ou t by our approved service organ isation.
25 Something not w orking continued Problem Possible solution The flame colour is orange/yellow. Due to the des ign of the burn er the flame c an appear to b e orange/yell ow (flame disturbance) in certain areas of the burner this is a natura l occurrence.

31 Moving your appliance You may damage s ome sof t or badly fitted fl oor c overings when you mov e the appliance. Th e floor covering under the appliance should be securely fix ed so i t does not ruc k up when you move the appliance across it. Alternatively y ou could remove the f loor covering.
32 If the units are intended to be fitted adjacent t o the applianc e but less than 4 00mm a bove the hotplate, then a m inimum space of 100mm must be maintained between the sides of th e u nit an d t he appliance (See Fig 1b). C urtains mu st not be fitted immediately behind the appliance or within 150m m of the sides of the hotplate.
33 Connecting to gas supply This applianc e is des igned to b e installed with an applianc e flexible connection o nly. Supply piping should not be less than R 3 /8. Connection is made to the Rc ½ (½” B.S.P.) fema le threa ded entry p ipe located just below the hot plate level on the r ear left ha nd side of the appliance.

35 Replace one clip back into the right hand side of the b urner box. Remove oven burner by removing the spri ng clip from the right ha nd s ide of the oven burner and slide burner off injector, whilst easing it forward and taking car e not to strain t he F.
