4 Safety The safety aspects of our r efriger ators/fr eezers comply with accepted tech- nical standar ds and the German Appliance Safety Law . Nevertheless, we consider it our obligation to make you awar e of the following safety infor- mation: Intended u se • The r efrigerator is intended for use in the home.
5 appliances. It is ther efore important that you ensur e adequate supervision and never let childr en play with the appliance! Daily Oper ation • Container s with flammable gases or liquids can leak at low temper atures.
6 Remove tr ansport safeguar d The appliance and the interior fittings ar e pr otected for transport. • Remove all adhesive tape and packing pieces fr om the interior of the appliance. Y our appliance is equipped with shelf r etainers that make it possible to secur e the shelves during transporta- tion.

8 DESIRED temper ature means: The temper ature that has been selected for inside the fridge or the fr eezer compartment. The DESIRED temper atur e is indicated by flashing numbers. ACTUAL temper ature means: The temper ature display indicates the curr ent temperatur e inside the fridge or the fr eezer compartment.
9 – FROSTMA TIC and COOLMATIC: Cooling for fr eezer section runs for 52 hour s in continuous operation, frid- ge temper ature value 2 °C for 6 hour s. – HOLIDA Y : Fridge temperatur e value appr ox.14 °C. – : Normal oper ation according to the r equired temper atur es set.
10 Prior to Initial Start-Up Befor e connecting the appliance to the mains and putting it into ope-r ation for the fir st time, leave the appliance to stand for 30 minutes if was tr an- sported upright. After tr ansport on its side, the appliance must be left to stand for 2 hour s before putting it into oper ation.
11 5. Set the fr eezer temperatur e to -18 °C or colder (see section: "Temper a- tur e Adjustment"). Do not load fr eezer with goods until a temperatur e of -18 °C has been rea- ched, or until the r ed warning indicator light has gone out.
12 Oper ating modes Using the MODE button differ ent operating modes can be selected. The oper ating modes are automatically switched off after a corr esponding period, but can also be manualled ended each time. T o do this, pr ess the MODE button r epeatedly until there ar e no longer any words appearing in the display .
13 The oper ating mode FROSTMATIC is automatically switched off depending on how the appliance is filled at the latest after appr ox. 52 hour s. The FRO- STMA TIC indicator will go out. COOLMA TIC The COOLMA TIC operating mode is suitable for quickly cooling lar ger quan- tities of r efrigerated foods in the fridge section, e.
14 After emptying and cleaning the appliance, pr oceed as follows: 1. T o switch on the holiday setting, pr ess the MODE button repeatedly until HOLIDA Y is flashing in the display . After appr ox. 4 seconds the operating mode HOLIDA Y is activated, HOLIDA Y lights up.
15 T emper atur e warning For the fr eezer section: An alarm sounds and the TEMPERA TURE indicator and r ed back light flash, as soon as the temper ature in the fr eezer section rises above -1 1 °C. In addi- tion the temper ature display for the fr eezer section flashes.
16 Interior Accessories Stor age shelves • Y ou should always slide one of the full size glass storage shelf into the lowest set of guides, above the fruit and the vegetable container s, and keep it in this position.
17 Dr awer The dr awer is suitable for storing fruit and vegetables. Ther e is a separ ator inside the drawer that can be placed in differ ent posi- tions to allow for the subdivision best suited to per sonal needs.
18 Air r ecycling The r efrigerator compartment is equipped with a special D.A.C. (Dynamic Air Cooling) fan which is automatically activated when the shopping mode is selected and under high ambient temper ature conditions. This device allows for r apid cooling of foods and a more uniform temper ature in the com- partment.
19 Fr eezing and storing fr ozen food Y ou can use your freezer for fr eezing fr esh food your self. Important! • The temper ature in the fr eezer compartment must be –18 °C or colder befor e freezing food. • Please observe the fr eezing capacity given on the rating plate.
20 Fr eezing Calendar • The symbols on the dr awer s show different types of fr ozen goods. • The number s indicate storage times in months for the appr opriate types of fr ozen goods. Whether the upper or lower value of the indicated sto- r age time is valid depends on the quality of the foods and pr e-treating befor e freezing.
21 Installation of the char coal filter On delivery the char coal fil- ter is placed in a plastic bag to secur e the length of life of the char coal filter .
22 Defr osting Refriger ator Fr ost is automatically eliminated from the evapor ator of the refriger ator compartment every time the motor compr essor stops, during normal use. The defr ost water drains out thr ough a trough into a special container at the back of the appliance, over the motor compr essor , wher e it evapor ates.
23 4. Clean the appliance and the interior accessories with a cloth and lukewarm water . Commer cially available dish washing deter gents may also be used. 5. After cleaning wipe with fr esh water and rub dry . Accumulation of dust at the condenser incr eases ener gy consumption.
24 The food is too warm. Interior lighting does not work. The appliance is near a heat source. Temper atur e is not pr operly adjusted. Please look in the "Initial Start Up" section. Light bulb is defective. Please look in the "Changing the Light Bulb" section.
25 Unusual noises. The appliance is touching the wall or other objects. Appliance is not level. A component, e.g. a pipe, on the rear of the appliance is touching another part of the appliance or the wall. The compressor starts after a period of time.

27 Guar antee Conditions Guar antee Condition s AEG offer the following guarantee to the fir st pur chaser of this appliance. 1. The guarantee is valid for 12 months commencing when the appliance is handed over to the first r etail pur chaser , which must be verified by purchase invoice or similar documen- tation.

30 Rear spacers Fit the r ear spacers contained in the documentation bag to ensu- r e even dissipation of heat gene- r eted during oper ation. Proceed in the sequence illustr ated by the figur es. D594 Fitting the Door Handles 1 . Screw the top handle br acket to the handle rod (1).
