7 Envir onmental Information Pa ck a g i ng All tr ansit packaging materials are envir onmentally compatible and can be reused. W ood is un-tr eated. The plastics can be recycled and are identified as follows: >PE< for polyethylene, e.g. the outer covering and the bags in the inte- rior .
8 Befor e Use Pa ck a g i ng 0 1. Remove all adhesive tape and packaging from the interior of the appli- ance. 3 Any r emnants of adhesive can be r emoved with white spirit. 2. Remove the transport pr otection pieces and pull off the adhesive tape. 3.
Installation 9 The following table shows which ambient temperatur e is corr ect for each climate classification: If installation next to a source of heat is unavoidable, the following minimum clearances must be maintain ed at the sides of the appliance: – for electric cookers 3 cm; – for oil and coal fired ranges 30 cm.
Installation 10 Electrical Connection Any electrical work requir ed to inst all this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNING – THIS APPL IANCE MUST BE EARTHED The manufacturer declines any liabilit y s hould these safety measur es not be observed.
11 Reversing The Door The door hinges can be changed from right (as supplied) to left if requir ed to suit the location wh er e the appliance is installed. 1 War n i ng ! Unplug from the mains, befor e r eversing the door . 0 1. Open the freezer door and with- draw the plinth cover to the front.

14 Prior to Initial Start-Up 1 Before connecting the appliance to the mains and putt ing it into ope- ration f or the first time, leave the appliance to stand for 30 minutes if it was transported upright. After tr ansport on its side, the appliance must be left to stand for 2 hour s before putting it into operation.
Starting Up and Regulating the 15 When the ambient temperatur e in the r oom where the appliance is situated is lower than +16 °C, the ambient switc h must be depressed.
16 Interior Accessories Stor age Shelves The shelf in the lowest runners above the fruit and vegetable drawer is stopped with plastic corners on the back . It must always remain in this position, so that fruit and vegetables stay fresh for longer . To r emove the stops, the plastic corners must be twisted 90° forwar ds and to the outside.

18 Pr oper Stor age The cooling fans ensure an even tem- peratur e distribution in the fridge. Foods with differen t perishability can therefor e be arr anged on the shelves as you like, without having to take into account the different temper atur e zones which usually occur .
19 To obtain the best performance fr om your r efrigerator/fr eezer: • Do not store warm food or evaporating liquids. • Do not store food uncover ed. • Keep the time between buying chilled food and placing it in your freezer as short as possible.
20 Fr eezing War n i ng ! • Before foods are fr ozen, the actual temper ature in the fr eezer compartment must be -18 °C or colder . • Please observe indicated freezing capacity on the rating plate. The freezing capacity r epr esents th e maximum amount of fr esh goods that can be frozen within 24 hour s.
21 Fr ozen Stor age Wa rn i ng ! Before initial loadi ng of the fr eezer compartment with previously fr ozen goods, the r equir ed storage temper atur e of -18 °C must be reached.

26 What to do if ... Corr ecting Malfunctions A malfunction may be caused by only a minor f ault that you can r ectify yourself using the following instructions. Do not perform any other work on the appliance if the following information does not provide assistance in your specific case.
27 If after the above checks ther e is still a fault, call your local AEG Service Force Centre. In-guarantee customer s should ensur e that the above checks have been made as the engineer will make a charge if the fault is not a mechanical or electrical breakdown.
28 T echnical T erminology • Refrigerant Liquids that can be used to a generate a cooling effect ar e known as refriger ants. They have a relatively low boiling-point, indeed so low , that the warmth from the food stor ed in the fridge or freezer can cause the refriger ant to boil and vaporise.
