5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and conn ection instructions” . • If the appliance is deliver ed in th e winter months when there ar e mi- nus temper atures: store the washin g machine at room temper ature for 24 hour s before usin g for the first time.
6 Gener al safety • Repair s to the washing machine may only be carried out by qualified/ authorised service engineer s. • Never use the appliance when the el ectrical cable is damaged or the control panel, worktop or plinth ar ea ar e damaged to such an extent that the inside of the app liance is openly accessible.

10 Befor e the first wash 1. Open the detergent dr awer . 2. P our approx. 2 litr es of water thr ough the deter gent dr awer into the washing machine. This closes the water container when the next progr amme is started and the economy valve can function pr operly 3.
11 Running a wash cycle Opening the door/l oading washing 1. Open the door: pull the handle on the door . When the appliance is switched on , the DOOR and ST ART/PAUSE indica- tors show whether the door can be opened: 2. Separ ate washing and load it loose- ly .
12 har dness range 1 (=soft). Y our local water company will pr ovide you with information about water hardness in your ar ea. 1. Pull out the detergent dr awer as far as it will go. 2. Add the detergent/conditioner . 3. Push the detergent dr awer in fully .
13 Changing the spin speed/selecting rinse hold The washing machine suggests the maximum permitted spin speed suitable for the selected pro- gr amme. Y ou can reduce this spin speed: T o do this, press the Spin/RINSE HOLD button repeatedly until the r equir ed indicator is illuminated.
14 PRE W ASH W arm pre-wash befor e the main wash that foll ows automatically; wi th intermediate spin for CO TTONS/LI NEN and EASY -CARES, without inter- mediate spin for DELICA TES. ST AIN For heavily soiled or stained washing. Stain r emoval agent will be rinsed into the wa sh at the optim um point in the pr ogramme.
15 Starting a pr ogr amme 1. Check that the tap is t urned on. 2. Select a progr amme. 3. Pr ess the START / P AUSE button. The pr ogr amme is started, or will start after the delay timer has counted down.
16 End of the wash cycle / r emoving the washing At the end of the pr ogr amme, EN D lights up on the progr amme pr ogress display . The door can be opened as soon as the DOOR indicator is lit gr een. 1. Open the loading door and r emove the washing. 2.
17 Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clo ckwise di- r ection as far as it will go.
18 Deter gent dispenser drawer The deter gent dispenser drawer should be cleaned r egularly . 1. Remove the deter gent dispenser dr awer by pulling it firmly . 2. Remove the conditioner insert fr om the middle compartment. 3. Clean all parts with water .
19 What to do if... Remedying small faults yourself If during use of the appliance one of the following error codes is shown in the multi-display: – E10 (Problems with the water inflow), – E20 (Problems with the water outflow), – E40 (door open), please consult the following table.
20 The washing machin e vibrates when operating or is no t stable. The transport lock has not been removed. Removing the transport lock. The screw feet not correctly adjusted. Adjust the feet as described in the installat ion and con- nection instructions.
21 If the wash r esult is not satisfactory The washing is gr ey and there ar e limescale deposits in the drum • T oo little deter gent was used. • An incorr ect deter gent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The pr ogramme or temper ature was not set pr operly .
22 Carrying out an emer gency dr ain 1 Wa r n i n g ! Prior to carrying out an em ergency dr ain, switch off the washing machine and remove the power plug fr om the power point. Wa r n i n g ! The water that comes out of the emergency dr ain hose may be hot.
23 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-fr ee. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Befor e loading the machine, please always ensur e that there are no for- eign bodies present in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.
24 Disposal 2 P ackaging material The packaging materials ar e environmentally friendly and can be r ecy- cled. The plastic components ar e id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appropriate container at your local waste disposal facilities.

26 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, check the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being tr anspor ted. Do not under any circumstanc- es connect an appliance that is dama ged to the mains.
27 Installing the appliance T r ansporting the appliance 1 Wa r n i n g : The washing machine is very heavy . Ther e is a risk of injury . Exer cise care when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay the washing machine on its fr ont nor on its right side (as seen fr om the fr ont).
28 2. Remove the power supply cable and the dra ining hose from the hose holder s on the r ear of the appliance. 3. With a suitable spanner unscrew and re m o v e t h e c e n t ra l re a r b o l t A . Slide out the r elevant plastic spacer . 4. Un sc re w a n d re m o v e t h e t wo l a rg e r ear bolts B and the six smaller bolts C .
29 5. Remove the br acket D. 6. Tighten up th e six smaller bolt s C . 7. Open the porthole and remove the polystyr ene block fitted with the ad- hesive tape on the door seal. 8. Fill the smaller upper hole and the two lar ge ones with the corr espond- ing plastic plug caps supplied in the bag containing the instruction booklet.
30 Connect the water inlet hose as described under the paragr aph “Water inlet” . Wher e to install Important! The washing machine must not be operated in a r oom wher e there is a danger of frost. Ther e is a risk of frost damage or ad- ver se effect on the perfomance of the machine.
31 Electrical Connection Any electrical work r equir ed to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 W ARNING – THIS APPLIA NCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufactur er declines any liabi lity should these safety measures not be observed.
32 P ermanent Connection In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appl iance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the current electrical r egulations.
33 W ater inlet Attention! • An inlet hose is supplied and can be found inside the machine drum. • Do not use the hose fr om your previous machine to connect to the water supply . • This appliance must be connec ted to a cold water supply . 1. Open the porthole and extra ct the inlet hose.
34 When dischar ging into a stand- pipe ensur e that the top of the curve in the hose end is no more than 90 cm (35.4’’) and no less than 60 cm (23.6’’) above floor level. The upright standpipe should have a minimum, length of 3 0 cm (12’’) fr om the bottom of the el- bow to the top of the pipe (see d i a g ra m ) .
