818 16 35-00/7 9 Remove the transport fittings fr om the storage shelves: 0 Slide the fittings securing the shelf forward to the thicker section on the edge of the storage shelf. 0 Slide the storage shelf far enough forward so that it can be hinged downwards and the fittings can be removed fr om the guides.

Installation 818 16 35-00/7 11 The r efriger ator/fr eezer needs air Air is fed under the door through the vent slots in the base and is exhausted upwards along the back wall. T o ensur e proper air cir culation never cover or alter the vent openings.

818 16 35-00/7 13 Reversing The Door The door hinges can be changed from right (as supplied) to left if requi- red to suit the loca tion where the appliance is insta lled. 1 War n i n g ! Unplug from the mains, befor e r eversing the door . 0 Open the freezer compartment door and remove the plinth to the front.

Remove the freezer compartment door carefully to the fr ont and place on one side. 0 Unscrew the centr e door bearing. 0 Remove the fridge compartment door carefully to the fr ont and place on one side.
Changing Over The Door Hinges 818 16 35-00/7 15 0 Unscrew the top handle br acket from the handle r od (1). Unscr ew the bottom handle bracket from the door (2). 0 Unscrew the top handle br acket from the door (3) and scr ew onto the bottom right-hand side of the door (4).
Changing Over The Door Hinges 16 818 16 35-00/7 0 Slide the centre door bearing into the bottom left of the fridge com- partment door and fasten to the housing. 0 Fasten the self-closing mechanism on the top left of the fr eezer compartment door , 0 Carefully slide the freezer com- partment door onto the centre bearing pivot and close.

24 818 16 35-00/7 FAST CHILL/FAST FREEZE FAST CHILL The FAST CHILL function is suited for quick cooling of lar ge quantities of goods in the refriger ator , e.g. drinks and salads for a party . 0 To switch on the FAST CHILL function first pr ess the temper ature r egu- lator for the refriger ator .
818 16 35-00/7 25 0 Y ou can stop the fast freezing pr ocess manually at any time by pr essing the FAST CHILL/-FREEZE button again. 3 The FAST FREEZE function can only be switched on when the refriger a- tor temperatur e regulator button is in the r ecessed position.
26 818 16 35-00/7 Stand-by Mode In the stand-by mode the temperatur e for the r efrigerator is appr oxi- mately +15 ° C. In stand-by mode it is therefor e possible to leave the door of the empty refriger ator closed during periods of extended absence.
818 16 35-00/7 27 Contr ol and Information Systems The control and information systems consist of a temper ature display , an optical warning display and an acoustic warning.
28 818 16 35-00/7 P a rtial/Complete Thaw W arning If frozen goods in the fr eezer compartment have been partially or com- pletely thawed (e.g. during a temporary power interruption), the r ed warning display flashes.
818 16 35-00/7 29 Interior Accessories Stor age Shelves 0 A storage shelf must be inserted into the lower guide tr ack above the fruit and vegetable drawers . It must a l ways r emain in this position, so that fruits a n d veget a bles r emain f r esh longe r .
Interior Accessories 30 818 16 35-00/7 0 To do this pull the bottle r ack for- ward until it can be tilted upwards, then slide the front sup- port into the next level up. V ariable Inner Door The door compartments can be pulled up and removed, and inserted at other positions as needed.
818 16 35-00/7 31 Corr ect stor age For physical reasons, the r efrigerator compartment has differ ent tempera- ture zones. The coldest zone is on the lowest storage shelf immediately above the fruit and vegetable drawers . Warmer zones are the upper stor age shelves and door racks.

War n i n g ! • Before foods ar e frozen, the actual temperatur e in the freezer com- partment must be -18 ° C or colder .

Defrosting 818 16 35-00/7 35 The appliance should be defrosted when the thickness of the white frost has r eached about 4 mm; but at least once a year in any case. A convenient time for defrosting is any time when the appliance is empty , or only minimally loaded.
36 818 16 35-00/7 Hints and Tips Normal Oper ating Sounds • Y ou may hear faint gur gling or bubbling sounds when the refriger ant is pumped through the coils or tubing at the r ear , to the cooling plate/evaporator .
818 16 35-00/7 37 Maintenance and Cleaning Before any maintenance or cleaning work i s carried out DISCONNECT the appliance from the ELECTRICITY supply .
Maintenance and Cleaning 38 818 16 35-00/7 Replace light bulb 3 For safety reasons the interior lighting switches off after 1 0 minutes when the door is open. It switches on again the next time the door is opened. 1 Wa rn i n g ! Danger of electrical shock! Before r eplacing the light bulb switch off the appliance and remove the mains plug.

They have a relatively low boiling-point, indeed so low , that the warmth from the food stor ed in the fridge or freezer can cause the refriger ant to boil and vaporise.
