4 Important Safety Instructions These warnings ar e pr ovided in the interest s of your s afety . Ensur e you fully understand them befor e in stalling or us ing the appliance. 5 Important Safety Instructions mains plug, cut off the mains cable, break or r emove spring or bolt catches, if fitted. By doing this you ensure that childr en cannot lock themselves in the appliance when playing (there is risk of suffoca- tion!) or get themselves into other dangerous situations.
6 • This pr oduct should be serviced by an authorised engineer and only genuine spare parts should be used. • Under no cir cumstances should you attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Repair s carried out by inexperienced per sons may cause injury or serious malfunctioning.
7 Installation Installation Location The appliance should be set up in a well ventilated, dry room. Energy use and efficient performance of the appliance is affected by the ambient temperatur e.
Y our fr eezer needs air For correct oper ation this appliance must be located in a dry atmos- phere, away fr om heat sour ces, e.g. cookers, r adiator s, boilers and direct sunlight. Y ou should also ensur e that air can circulate fr eely ar ound the back and the top of the cabinet.
9 Installation A EG97 K 1 A EG98 A 12 Reversing the door The side at which the door opens can be changed from the right side (as supplied) to the left side, if the installation site requir es. Warning! When changing the side at which the door opens, the appli- ance must not be connected to the mains.
10 Installation Electrical Connection Any electrical work requir ed to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. WARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The manufacturer declines any liability s hould these s afety mea- sures not be observed.

12 To r emove the dr awers (e.g. for cleaning purposes), pull them out as far as the stops, lift and extract. Prior to Initial Start–Up Please clean the appliance interior and all accessories prior to initial start-up (see section: “Cleaning and Care”).
13 Control panel DESIRED temperatur e (one light flashing) by pr essing one of the two buttons, „+“ or „-“ . • With each further pr ess of one of the two buttons, the DESIRED temperatur e is adjusted by one display field. • If neither button is pr essed, the temper ature display automatically switches back after a short period (approx.
14 Starting up and temper atur e r egulation ☞ 1. Insert the plug into the plug socket. 2. Press ON/OFF button. The green mains pilot indicator illuminates. A warning tone sounds and the flashing red warning light indicates that the r equir ed storage tem- peratur e has not yet been r eached.

16 Fr eezing and storing fr ozen food Y ou can use your fr eezer for freezing fr esh food your self. Important! • The temper atur e in the freezer compartment must be –18°C or cold- er before fr eezing food. • Please observe the fr eezing capacity given on the r ating plate.
Freezing and storing fr ozen food 17 when the contents freeze, high carbonate content drinks can even explode! Never store lemonade, juices, beer , wine, sparkling wine etc.
18 Stor age Goods Symbols/Fr eezing Calendar • The symbols on the dr awer s show different types of fr ozen goods. • The number s indicate stor age times in months for the appropriate types of frozen goods.
19 Warning! • Do not use electrical heating appliances or any other mechanical or artificial devices to speed up the defrosting pr ocess. • Do not use defr osting spr ays, they can be hazardous to your health and/or contain substances that damage plastics.
20 Cleaning and Car e For hygienic reasons the appliance interior , including interior acces- sories, should be cleaned regularly . Warning! • The appliance must not be connected to the mains during cleaning.
21 Magnetic door seal After opening and closing the door of your freezer you will not be able to open the door again immediately . This is because a vacuum will have developed inside, keeping the door closed until the pressur es inside and outside the door have equalised.
22 The freezer temper ature is not sufficient, red light illuminates, temperatur e alarm signal sounds. Temper ature is not pr oper- ly adjusted. A large quantity of warm food placed in the appli- ance within the last 24 hours. Please look in the “Initial Start Up” section.
What to do if... 23 Heavy build up of frost, possibly also on the door seal. Door seal is not air tight (possibly after rever sing the door). Carefully warm the leaking sections of the door seal with a hair dryer (on a cool setting). At the same time shape the warmed door seal by hand such that it sits correctly .
24 Regulations , Standar ds , Guidelines This appliance was designed for household use and was manufactured in accordance with the appr opriate standar ds.
25 T echnical terminology • Refrigerant Liquids that can be used to a generate a cooling effect ar e known as refriger ants. They have a r elatively low boiling-point, indeed so low , that the warmth from the food stor ed in the fridge or fr eezer can cause the refriger ant to boil and vaporise.
