5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and conn ection instructions” . • If the appliance is delivere d in th e winter months when there are mi- nus temperatur es: stor e the washin g machine at room temperatur e for 24 hours befor e using for the fir st time.
6 Gener al safety • Repairs to the washing machine may only be carried out by qualified/ authorised service engineers. • Never use the appliance when the el ectrical cable is damaged o r the control panel, worktop or plinth ar ea are damaged to such an extent that the inside of the app liance is openly accessible.
7 Switching on the appliance for the first time – setting the language When switching on the appliance for the fir st time you should be sure to set the language in wh ich you want the indicat ors in the display to appear . 1. Press the contr ol knob .

14 Befor e the first wash Setting the time So that the current time and the end of the progr amme are corr ectly displayed, please check the display and set the current time, if neces- sary .
15 Running a wash cycle Switching on the appliance Press the contr ol knob . The appliance is now switched on. 3 Before switching the appli- ance on, make sure that the drum is empty . If you do not, the washing will subse- quently not be register ed properly by the load sensor .
16 3 RINSE HOLD means: the washing is left to soak in the last rinse water and is not spun. If r equired, set options. Selecting options Y ou can select differ ent options on top of the progr amme that has been selected. Only options that can be combined with the programme that has already been selected will be offer ed.
17 TIME SAVING 1. Press the OPTIONS key . 2. Use the contr ol knob to highlight TIME SAVING. 3. Press the SELECT key . 4. Use the contr ol knob to highlight VERY QUICK. 5. Press the SELECT key . The symbol appears in the display . DELA Y START 1. Press the OPTIONS key .
18 Opening the door/Loa ding the washing 1. To open the door: carefully pull the handle on the door . 2. Unfold the washing and load it loosely into the machine. Mix large and small items. Important: Do not get any washing caught between the door and the rubber seal.
19 Adding deter gent / conditioner Important: Only use detergents/conditioner s that ar e suitable for use in domestic washing machines. Add deter gent/conditioner in accor dance with the deter gent/condi- tioner manufacturer’ s instructions. Observe instructions on the packag- ing.
20 Starting a pr ogramme 1. Check that the water tap is open. 2. Press the ST ART key . The wash cycle is started. Pr ogramme pr ogr ess While the progr amme is running, the display shows among other things: – each stage of the pro- gramme as it pr ogresses, e.
21 W ashing cycle complete/Removing the washing At the end of the pr ogramme PLEA SE TAKE OUT THE CLO THES appear s in the display . As soon as the § symbol appears, the door can be opened. 1. Open the door using the handle. 2. Remove the washing. 3.
22 Setting extr a options Independent of any progr amme you can set different basic settings. These basic settings will permanently r emain active until they ar e dese- lected again. MEMORY 1, 2, 3, 4 Frequently used pr ogramme settings can be stor ed.
23 MEMORY Saving a pr ogramme setting First set a pr ogramme (e.g. LI NEN/EASY -CARES, 40 °C, 1200 rpm, with the SENSITIVE option), then save it. 1. Use the contr ol knob to highlight LINEN/EASY -C. 2. Set the temperatur e and the spin speed. 3. Press the OPTIONS key .
24 Clearing a stor ed progr amme setting 1. Press the OPTIONS key . 2. Press the EXTRAS key . MEMORY is highlighted: 3. Press the SELECT key . 4. Use the contr ol knob to highlight MEMORY 1. 5. Press the CLEAR key . The stored pr ogr amme set- ting has now been clear ed.
25 LANGUAGE 1. Press the OPTIONS key . 2. Press the EXTRAS key . 3. Use the contr ol knob to highlight LANGUAGE. 4. Press the SELECT key . 5. Use the contr ol knob to highlight the desired lan- guage, e.g. ENGLISH. 6. Use the SELECT key to store the selected language.
26 Pr ogr amme pr otection In order to pr otect the selected sett ings of a progr amme that is running from unintentional alter ations, the buttons can be locked. Setting programme pr otection: 1. Start the progr amme. 2. Press second and fourth but- ton at the same time for about 3 seconds.
27 Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clockwise di- rection as far as it will go.
28 Cleaning and car e Important: Do not use furnitur e cleaning products or aggr essive clean- ing agents to clean the appliance. Wipe over the control panel and housing with a damp cloth. Deter gent drawer The detergent dr awer should be cleaned regularly .
29 What to do if... Remedying small malfunctions yourself If one of the following fault message s is shown in the display during operation: – ATTENTION (E4 1 ) / P LEASE CLOSE THE DOOR – ATTENTION ERROR CODE (E1 1) / PLEASE OPEN THE T AP – ATTENTION ERROR CODE (E2 1) / PLEASE CHECK THE WA TER DRAINAGE please refer to the following table.
30 Washing has not been spun. Only a few large items of washing in th e drum. Always load the drum as f ull as possible. Mix large and small items. Water is leaking out from under the washing machine. The screw connection on the inlet hose is leaking.
31 If the wash result is not satisfactory The washing is grey a nd there are limescale deposits in the drum • Too little detergent was used. • An incorr ect detergent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The progr amme or temperatur e was not set properly .
32 Carrying out an emer gency drain 1 War n i n g ! Prior to carrying o ut an em ergency dr ain, switch off the washing machine and remove the power plug from the power point. War n i n g ! The water that comes out of the emergency drain hose may be hot.
33 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-free. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Before loading the machine, please always ensure that ther e are no for- eign bodies present in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.
34 Disposal 2 Packaging material The packaging materials are envir onmentally friendly and can be recy- cled. The plastic components are id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appropriate container at your local waste disposal facilities.
35 T echnical data Consumption values The consumption values for selected progr ammes provided in the fol- lowing table were determined under standar d conditions. 36 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, check the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being transpor ted. Do not under any cir cumstanc- es connect an appliance that is dama ged to the mains.
37 Installing the appliance T ransporting the appliance 1 War n i n g : The washing machine is very heavy . There is a risk of injury . Exercise car e when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay the washing machine on its front nor on its right side (as seen from the f ront).
38 3. Remove both plastic caps sideways. 3 Special spanner A and sealing caps B (2 units) and C (1 unit) come with the appliance. 4. Use special spanner A to r emove screw D and the compr ession spring. 5. Turn sealing cap C upside down as shown in the illustr ation.
39 • If the location in which the applianc e is to be installed is fitted with small-format tiles, put a rubber ma t (available in the shops) under the appliance. If the appliance is to stand on a base: In order for the appliance to be se- cure on the base, fixing plates*) must be mounted, into which the appliance is inserted.
40 Electrical Connection Any electrical work r equired to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNI NG – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufacturer declines any liabi lity should these safety measur es not be observed.
41 P ermanent Connection In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appl iance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the current electrical regulations.
42 W ater inlet A 1.35 m long pressur e hose is supplied with the appliance. If a longer inlet hose is r equired, only hoses from the manufa cturer ar e to be used. Y our local Service Force stocks hose kits of differ ent lengths. 3 Sealing rings are either inserted in th e plastic nuts of the threaded hose fitting or are included as spar e pa rts.
43 Wa t e r D ra i n a g e The appliance dr ain hose should hook into a standpipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed using the plas tic “U-Piece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see dia- gram) thus ensuring ther e is an ai r break between the dr ain hose and standpipe.
44 Pumping heights of over 1 metr e The washing machine’s dr ain pump is ab le to pump water to a height of 1 metr e, calculated from the surface on which the appliance is instal led. Important! If pumping height is over 1 metr e malfunctions and dam- age to the appliance may arise.
