Tips for envir onmental protection T o save water , energy and to help pr otect the environment, we r ecommend that you follow these tips: • Normally soiled laundry may be washed without prewashing in or der to save deter gent, water and time (the environment is pr otected too!).

13 P osition E corresponds to the ENERGY SAVING pr ogramme at appr ox. 67°C for normally soiled laundry , extended washing time (cannot be combined with QUICK). P osition 40°C Easy to iron. In this position the laundry is gently washed and spun to avoid any cr easing.
One minute after depr essing the START/P AUSE button, the machine starts its hourly countdown. T o alter or cancel the preset delay , pr ess the START/P AUSE button, then pr ess the DELA Y START button until the r equired time is displayed or , if you wish to cancel the delay , until the symbol 0 h is displayed.
SPIN SPEED Pr ess this button to reduce the maximum speed of the intermediate and final speed pr oposed by the machine for the selected pr ogramme. The maximum spin speed for cotton is 1400 rpm, for easy-car es and wool 900 rpm and for delicates 7 00 rpm.
QUICK By pr essing this button the washing time is reduced. For use when washing lightly soiled laundry . This option is not available with the wool and Economy pr ogramme and cannot be used with ST AIN. EXTRA RINSE Can be used with all pr ogrammes except the wool pr ogramme .
Cancelling/Altering a pr ogr amme T o cancel or alter a progr amme which is running, turn the progr amme selector dial to the RESET position: thr ee flashing dashes will be dis- played, the pr ogramme is cancelled. The machine will maintain the water in the tub .
Deter gent dispenser drawer Compartment for pr ewash or soak detergent and stain r emover . The prewash or soak deter gent is added at the beginning of the wash progr amme. The stain r emover is added during the STAIN-Action phase in the main wash. Compartment for powder or liquid deter gent used for main wash.
Pr eparing the wash cycle Sorting out and pr eparing the laundry • Sort out the laundry according to type of fabrics and car e labels (see “T ypes of fabric and care labels”). • Empty pockets. • Remove any metal parts (safety pins, clips, etc.
W eight of laundry T ypes of fabric and car e labels The labels on garments help you to select the most suitable wash pr o- gr amme. The laundry should be sorted out according to the type of fab- ric and the instructions indicated on car e labels. T emperatur es indicated on labels are always maximum temper atures.
Delicates Micr ofibr es, easy-cares or curtains marked with these symbols r equir e a very gentle tr eatment. The DELICA TES progr amme is suitable for this type of fabric. W oollens and particularly delicate items Fabrics such as wool, wool mix or silk marked with this symbol ar e par- ticularly sensitive to machine washing.
22 Deter gents and additives Which deter gent?.... T o ensure you obtain the best wash r esults from your appliance, it is important to use the right deter gent in your everyday wash, and only deter gents recommended for use in automatic machines.
And in which form? Not only ar e ther e differ ent types of deter gent, but they ar e also available in differ ent forms. Whether you chose a powder or liquid in tr aditional or compact form is your own per sonal choice. TRADITIONAL POWDERS P our the powder directly into the dispenser dr awer .
Pr eparing the drying cycle As a dryer , the machine works on the condensation principle. Ther efore, the water tap must be open and the dr ain hose must dr ain water into a sink or into the drain pipe, even during the dry- ing cycle .
Drying symbols on garment labels Always look at the garment label to check whether garments can be machine dried. The following symbols r efer to drying: Machine drying is usually possible Normal dryi.
Additional drying Should the laundry still be too wet at the end of the pr ogramme, set another short drying cycle. W arning! To pr event the formation of creases or shrinking of fab- rics , avoid excessive drying. 26 Preparing the drying cycle 132992090bis.
27 How to wash Max. load - cottons 4,5 kg - easy car es and delicates 2 kg - wool 1 kg Load the laundry Open the door . Place the laundry in the drum, one item at a time. Distribute laundry as evenly as possible. Close the door . Add deter gent and additive Pull the dr awer out till it stops.

Selection of the DELA Y ST ART option T o delay starting of a progr amme, press the DELA Y START button befor e starting the machine . The figur es corresponding to the selected delay will be displayed for about 3 sec- onds, after which the dur ation of the selected pr ogramme will appear on the display .
At the end of the pr ogr amme The machine stops automatically and a flashing zer o is displayed. The END pilot light stays on. If the RINSE HOLD option has been selected, the corr esponding pilot light on the pr ogramme pr ogress display stays on to indicate that the water must be emptied out befor e opening the door .
Automatic washing and drying (NON-ST OP pr ogramme) W arning! For NON-STOP pr ogrammes, it is also essential not to exceed the maximum load sizes of 2.
Pr ogramme chart W ash pr ogrammes ECONOMY Select the economy pr ogramme “E” instead of the 95°C pr ogramme when wash- ing normally soiled whites; the wash is carried out at about 67°C, with conse- quent ener gy saving. The washing phase will be slightly longer .

35 Cleaning and maintenance After each wash At the end of the wash pr ogramme, pull the dispenser dr awer out a lit- tle to let it dry . Leave the door ajar to allow air to cir culate. If the machine is not used for a pr olonged period: Close the water tap and unplug the appliance.
T o remove the dr awer from the machine, pr ess the button in the rear left-hand corner . T o facilitate cleaning, the top part of the additive compartment can be r emoved. Deter gent can also accumulate inside the dr awer recess: clean it with an old tooth- brush.
T urn off the water tap. Unscr ew the hose from the tap. T o do this, depress the small yellow but- ton on the hose. Clean the filter with a stiff brush.
Something not working? If, during the spin cycle, the machine makes an unusual whistling noise, differ ent from the noise made by tr adi- tional washing machines, this is due to a new type of motor . If water is not visible in the drum, this is due to the modern technology of new washing machines that use less water than tr aditional machines.

Installation Unpacking All tr ansit bolts and packing must be removed befor e using the appli- ance. Using a spanner , unscrew and r emove the r ear right-hand bolt and lay the machine on its back, taking car e not to squash the hoses. This can be avoided by placing one of the corner packing pieces between the machine and the floor .
þ Set the machine upright and r emove the two r emaining bolts fr om the back. Pull out the thr ee plastic spacer s from the holes into which the bolts wer e fitted. Plug the open holes with the plugs which you will find in the plastic bag containing the instruction booklet.
W ater inlet (cold water connection only) Connect the hose to a tap with a 3/4” thr ead. Installation should comply with local water authority and building r egulations’ r equirements. Set the hose corr ectly by loosening the ring nut. After positioning the inlet hose, be sur e to tighten the ring nut again to pr event leaks.
Longer dr ain hoses are available in lengths of 2.7 and 4 metr es from your AEG Service For ce Centre. If you intend the dr ain hose from the machine to empty into a sink, make sur e that the sink is empty and the plug hole is not blocked. Use the plastic “U -Piece” supplied.
The cut off plug should then be disposed of to pr event the hazard of shocks in case it should be plugged into a 13 Amp socket in another part of your home.
