12 Description of the appliance Position 40°C Easy to iron. In this position the laundry is gently washed and spun to avoid any creasing. In this way ir oning is easier . Position COLD = cold wash ON/OFF button Press this button to switch the machine on.
13 To alter or cancel the pr eset delay , press the START/P AUSE button, then press the DELA Y START button until the requir ed time is displayed or , if you wish to cancel the delay , until the symbol 0 h is displayed. Then press the ST ART/PAUSE button again.
QUICK W ASH By pressing this button the washing time is r educed. For use when washing lightly soiled laundry . This option is not available with the wool and economy progr amme and cannot be used with STAIN. RINSE HOLD By selecting this option, the last rinse water is not emptied out, to prevent the fabrics fr om creasing.
Display The display shows the following information: • If the progr amme selector dial is on the RESET position, three flashing dashes appear immediately after pressing the ON/OFF button to indicate that the machine is ready to be selected for the r equired wash pr ogramme.
Cancelling/Altering a pr ogramme To cancel or alter a pr ogramme which is running, turn the pr ogramme selector dial to the RESET position: three flashing dashes will be dis- played, the progr amme is cancelled. The machine will maintain the water in the tub .
Deter gent dispenser drawer Compartment for prewash or soak deter gent and stain remover . The prewash or soak detergent is added at the beginning of the wash pr ogramme. The stain remover is added during the ST AIN-Action phase in the main wash. Compartment for powder or liquid detergent used for main wash.
Pr eparing the wash cycle Sorting out and pr eparing the laundry • Sort out the laundry accor ding to type of fabrics and care labels (see “Types of fabric and car e labels”). • Empty pockets. • Remove any metal parts (safety pins, clips, etc.
W eight of laundry T ypes of fabric and care labels The labels on garments help you to select the most suitable wash pro- gramme. The laundry should be sorted out accor ding to the type of fab- ric and the instructions indicated on care labels. Temper atures indicated on labels ar e always maximum temperatur es.
Delicates Microfibr es, synthetics or curtains marked with these symbols requir e a very gentle treatment. The DELICATES pr ogramme is suitable for this type of fabric. Woollens and particularly delicate items Fabrics such as wool, wool mix or silk marked with this symbol are par- ticularly sensitive to machine washing.
21 Deter gents and additives Which deter gent?.... To ensur e you obtain the best wash results fr om your appliance, it is important to use the right detergent in your everyday wash, and only detergents r ecommended for use in automatic machines.
And in which form? Not only are ther e different types of deter gent, but they are also available in different forms. Whether you chose a powder or liquid in tr aditional or compact form is your own personal choice. TRADITIONAL POWDERS P our the powder directly into the dispenser dr awer .
23 How to wash Max. load - cottons 4.5 kg - easy cares and delicates 2 . kg - wool 1 . kg Load the laundry Open the door . Place the laundry in the drum, one item at a time. Distribute laundry as evenly as possible. Close the door . Add deter gent and additive Pull the drawer out till it stops.
Selection of the desir ed wash progr amme Turn the pr ogramme selector dial to the desired position: the lights corresponding to the differ ent phases making up the selected progr amme light up.
25 How to wash Starting the pr ogramme To start the selected pr ogramme, pr ess the START/P AUSE button; the corresponding light stops flashing. The pilot light corresponding to the wash phase which is running is illuminated.
Pr ogramme chart W ash progr ammes In compliance with EC directive 92/75, the consumption figur es indicated on the energy label r efer to the 60°C wash progr amme for cotton.

Cleaning and maintenance After each wash At the end of the wash progr amme, pull the dispenser drawer out a lit- tle to let it dry . Leave the door ajar to allow air to circulate. If the machine is not used for a prolonged period: Close the water tap and unplug the appliance.
To facilitate cleaning, the top part of the additive compartment can be removed. Detergent can also accumulate inside the drawer r ecess: clean it with an old tooth- brush. Refit the drawer after cleaning. Door seal Regularly check to see, if there ar e deposits or foreign objects in the rubber seal behind the door and remove them.
Unscrew the hose fr om the tap. To do this you must pr ess the yellow button on the hose first. Clean the filter with a stiff brush. Screw the hose back onto the tap.
Something not working? If during the spin cycle the machine makes an unusual whistling noise, different fr om the noise made by tradi- tional washing machines, this is due to a new type of motor . If water is not visible in the drum, this is due to the modern technology of new washing machines that use less water than traditional machines.

Installation Unpacking All transit bolts and packing must be r emoved before using the appli- ance. Using a spanner , unscrew and remove the rear right-hand bolt and lay the machine on its back, taking care not to squash the hoses. This can be avoided by placing one of the corner packing pieces between the machine and the floor .
Set the machine upright and remove the two remaining bolts from the back. Pull out the three plastic spacers fr om the holes into which the bolts were fit- ted. Plug the open holes with the plugs which you will find in the envelope con- taining the instruction booklet.
W ater inlet (cold water connection only) Connect the hose to a tap with a 3/4” thread. Installation should comply with local water authority and building regula- tions’ requir e- ments. Set the hose correctly by loosening the ring nut. After positioning the inlet hose, be sure to tighten the ring nut again to pr event leaks.
The upright standpipe should have a mini- mum length of 30 cm (12”) from the bottom of the elbow to the top of the pipe (see dia- gram). Make sur e that it is designed in such a way that the end of the drain hose cannot be covered with water .
Electrical connections WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufacturer declines any liability should this safety measur e not be observed. If the plug that is fitted to your appliance is not suitable for your socket outlet, it must be cut off and the appropriate plug fitted.
P ermanent connection In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appliance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the current electrical regulations.
Building-in This appliance has been designed to be built into the kitchen furniture. The recess should have the dimen- sions shown in picture A. Pr eparation and assembly of the door The machine is originally pre- arranged for the assembly of a door opening from right to left.
