Install Cup Holder (on select models): Pull pad off corner and place cup holder on shell. Mak e certain cup holder snaps into place. Replace pad. Cup holder can be on either side.
Place the child’ s bottom and back flat against the child restraint. This will increase comf or t and allow the harness to pr operly tighten. 13 7 Lift headrest to the highest position by pulling headr est out while sliding up . This will expose all harness slots.
14 Pull harness thr ough the harness guides fr om the fr ont. 12 Fr om back of child restraint, remo ve harness guides by pushing down on one edge with one hand and pulling out fr om the fr ont side with the other . 13 14 Snap in the optional harness guides with body pillow into the ne w harness slots.
16 T o change harness location: Fr om the back of the seat, remo ve harness fr om splitter plate. 11A 12A Pull harness thr ough the harness slots fr om the fr ont. 13A Rethread harness into new harness slot location. Mak e sure harness does not twist.
19 18 1 P osition harness straps ov er the child’ s shoulders. Securing Y our Child in the Child Restraint NO TE: Depending on y our model, follow the unbuckling and buckling steps that matches your buckle plates. Push each buckle plate into buckle until you hear a “click”.
20 21 Removing Y our Child from the Child Restraint Press on r elease button and pull apart. 2 This child restraint has 2 recline positions: upright and reclined. Rear -Facing - Must be reclined. F orward-F acing - Reclined or upright. Belt-P ositioning Booster - Must be fully- upright.
23 22 Choosing LA TCH or V ehicle Belts The LA TCH System Anchor bars V ehicle Belts If LA TCH is not an option, you will use y our vehicle’ s belts. There ar e some vehicle belts that will not work with a child r estraint or will requir e special attention.
24 25 Buckle T wist vehicle seat belt and latch plate (or buckle) Latch plate W ARNING ! Failur e to check and adjust the manual belt as described abo ve can r esult in serious injur y or death. 1 2 Manual Belts Manual lap belts ar e common in the center rear seat and can allo w the child restraint to loosen when it is tilted or jarr ed.
26 27 5 Rebuckle belt. Lap belt portion should now be tight. If not, remo ve locking clip and repeat all steps. P osition locking clip about 1 in. (2.5 cm) from v ehicle belt’ s buckle plate .
Place child restraint r ear - facing in the back seat. With child restraint in the most reclined position, mak e sure le vel lines on shoulder belt guide are lev el with gr ound. Adjust child restraint if needed. NO TE: Do not use the top anchorage strap (tether) in the rear -facing position.
30 31 With weak est hand at belt path, tilt and push the child restraint f orward and back, and from side to side. If the seat belts do not loosen, your child restraint should be secur e . NO TE: Some “pla y” from fr ont to back or about an inch fr om side to side is acceptable.
32 33 4 6 7 Push LA TCH hook thr ough the rear -facing belt path slot. Push LA TCH hook thr ough the other rear - facing belt path slot. Put seat pad back ov er corners of shell. Completed threading of the LA TCH system rear - facing is shown. Rear -Facing Use: 5-35 lbs.
34 35 6 W ARNING ! 5 T o release LA TCH: Remov e child from child restraint. Press do wn firmly on adjuster side of child restraint and pr ess release button on adjuster to release tension as shown. Unhook LA TCH fr om bar . After checking for hot seat and buckles, place child in child restraint.
36 37 Forward-Facing Installation W ARNING: ! After deciding whether to use your V ehicle Belts or LA TCH, be sure to read the warnings belo w as they pertain to both systems. T o install the child restraint, use either the recline mode or upright mode.

41 40 With knee still in child restraint, attach hook to anchor in vehicle. Push down firmly and tighten top anchorage strap . T o adjust top anchorage strap: See “Adjusting T op Anchorage Strap” section. 5 Place one knee in the child restraint and push do wn firmly while pulling up on the loop to tighten belt.
43 42 The top anchorage strap (tether) is used for the f orward- facing position only . Most vehicles made after 9/1/99 alr eady hav e the anchor hardwar e for a top anchorage strap .
45 44 Belt-Positioning Booster Use: 40-80 lbs. (18.1-36.3 kg), 43-52” (110.1-132.1 cm), Over 1 year of age. Removal of Harness Fr om the back of the seat, unfasten harness straps fr om splitter plate . 1 2 Pull harness thr ough the slots fr om the front.
46 47 Belt-Positioning Booster Use: 40-80 lbs. (18.1-36.3 kg), 43-52” (110.1-132.1 cm), Over 1 year of age. Belt-Positioning Booster Installation Place booster seat against the back of the vehicle seat. T uck the top anchorage hook under the child restraint.
48 49 1 Reinstall Harness: Fit the buckle strap down thr ough one of the three slots in the seat. Mak e sure buckle faces out. Reinstall Harness 3 4 W ARNING ! Failur e to reattach the buckle and harness corr ectly can r esult in serious injur y or death.
50 51 Removing Seat Pad for Cleaning Remov e harness as described in the “Belt-Positioning Booster” section. Fr om the back of child restraint, remov e the top elastic straps. 2 Remov e headrest pad. Remov e elastic straps fr om bottom of child restraint 1 3 continued on next page.
