If an L TR syste m is selected , the Free System R ingback featur e is automati cally selected when the P TT switch is released. Th is feature signals you when the system is no longer busy (see page 16 for more i nformation) .
SYSTEM SCAN Intr oduction The system scan feature mo nitors the programmed systems of the current bank. When a message is det ected that the transc eiver is programmed to recei ve, scanning stop s and the message is rece ived. Shortly after the message is complete, scann ing resumes.
The transceive r can be programmed to ei ther save or not sav e changes to the scan l ist when power is turned off. This programmi ng is done by your syst em operator or by the Men u mode SCAN SA VE paramet er if it is selectabl e (see page 18) .
Group Scan The Group Sca n feature ca n be programmed on each system by your syste m operator . Group scann ing occurs whenever a system programmed for group scan is selected or scanned with the micropho ne on-hook (there is no swi tch for selecting t his feature).
Con ventional Operation W ith conv entional operati on, selecting a syste m actually selects a speci fic radio channel. Then sele cting a group (if available) se lects the mobile or group of mobiles bein g called or from which cal ls are received on that channel.
Pr oceed (Clear -T o-T alk) T one This is a short tone tha t sounds when the P TT switch is pressed, and i t indicat es that the radi o system has bee n successfully accessed and speaking can begin. It is sta ndard on L TR and Multi-Net systems and programmable by y our system operat or on convent ional systems.
However , if a function i s controlle d by an opti on switch or the Menu mode, it retur ns to the cond ition that was selected by those feat ures. The functi ons that c an be progr ammed in t he profile are as follows. Descri ptions of the se features star t on page 18.
If the sy stem is busy , the bu sy tone sounds and t he queue mode i s entered automatically when the P TT switc h is released. Th e busy tone th en stops soundi ng and “ IN QUEUE ” is displaye d. When the system becomes ava ilable, eit her a dial t one or beep sou nds.
When a call on a priority ID is recei ved, the ID code s of the selectable g roups are checked t o see if any are the same. If one is th e same, the tran sceiver switches to t hat group. If non e are the same, the group number does no t change and “ PRIOR ITY 1" (or 2) i s displayed.
L TR MODE FEA TURES Free System Ri ngback If a busy condit ion exists when mak ing an L TR telephone c all, the Free S ystem Ringback feature automatically signals when t he system is available. It operates as follows: When the P TT swit ch is released, the busy tone stops soundi ng and “ RING BACK ” is indicate d in the display .
Call Guar d Squelch Contr ol The Call Guard Squelch fea ture eliminates dist racting messages inten ded for others on convention al systems. This is done by using a su baudible tone or d igital code to control the transce iver squelch. This tone or code i s unique to a mobile or group of mobi les on tha t system.

Bank Select If banks of sy stems have been p rogrammed, the Menu mode “ BANK SELCT ” or BANK option switch select the bank in which the transceiver i s currently operating. W hen the bank sele ct mode is enable d, the Select switch i s used to change th e current ba nk.
Horn/Light Ale rt An external al ert such as the vehicl e ’ s horn or lights can be used to signal a call. The HOR N option switch or “ HORN/LIGHT ” Menu mode para meter can b e used to t urn this al ert on o r off. The on conditi on of the opt ion swit ch is indicated by a tri angle in the display under the switch.
Scan T ype The “ SC AN SE LCT ” menu parameter selects the typ e of system scanning that occurs when it i s enabled by the SCAN switc h. Either “ MU L TI - SITE ” or “ SNG LE- SITE ” can be selected.
