9 Precautions when using this Player Do not move the player during playback During playback, the disc spins at high speed, so do not lift or move the player, as doing so may damage the disc. Transporting the player When transporting the player be sure to remove the disc and turn off the power, then unplug the power cord.
10 When using with car power cable in cars Turn on the engine and then connect with the car power cable. Cleaning the player Clean the player using a soft, dry cl oth. For stubborn dirt, apply some neut ral deter gent diluted in 5 to 6 parts water to a soft cloth, wring out thoroughly, wipe off the dirt, then wipe the player with a dry cloth.
11 Precautions for battery pack operation Operation of the battery pack Charge the battery pack fully before using it for the first time. When the ambient temperature is too high, the batt ery pack may be unusable due to activation of protection circuitry.
12 Types of discs playable on this Player The discs listed on the table below can be played on this player without an adapter. The marks shown on the table below are indicated on the disc's label, package or jacket.
13 Disc structure CDs are divided into units called tracks. Generally one track cor responds to one song. Tracks ar e sometimes further divided into indexes. CDs Track 1 Track 2 Track 3 Track 4 Track 5 DVDs are divided into units called titles, which ar e subdivided into chapters.
14 Using these operating instructions Be sure to read the operating instructions carefully before usi ng the player. You can then take maximum advantage of all functions of this player. When this player is connected to a TV or AV amplif ier, the setup screen should be displayed.

16 Remote control unit and ma in unit preparations Notes on using the remot e control unit Do not drop or step on the remote control unit or subject it to shocks, as this may damage it. Note that the remote control unit may not work if there are obstacles between it and the remote sensor.
17 Remote control uni t operating range The remote control unit can operate within a distance of approximately 5 metr es. Note: Most of the player's operations c an be actuated wit h the remote control unit. Some operations, however, can only be done by using the main unit buttons.
18 Parts and functions Liquid crystal display The portable DVD player is equipped with a liquid crystal display. 1 Liquid crystal display 2 Speakers 3 Control section 4 Remote sensor Signals from the remote control unit are received here. 5 Power indicator Off: No power connection.
19 Main unit control section 1 Play / pause button Press to play. When pressing dur ing playback mode, pause mode is set. Press again to resume playback. Keep it pressed for about 1.5 seconds to power on the unit. 2 Stop / off button Press to stop playback.
20 Main unit left side 1 Phone jack For connecting stereo headphone or an amplifier. 2 Volume co ntrol Use to adjust the volume of the speakers or headphone. 3 Video in/out jack Input or output video signals to/from device conne ct ed by setting AV IN/OUT mode value.
21 Main unit rear side 1 Open-stick 2 Support You can use it to open the tray. The unit can stand with this device. How to stand 1. Pull out the support.
22 Remote control unit (frequentl y used buttons) 1 STANDBY button Press this button to turn the power on or off. 2 PREVIOUS / NEXT button ( and ) Use these buttons to search for the beginning of tracks or chapters. Backwards Forwards 3 Scan buttons ( and ) Use these buttons to switch playing speed forwards or backwards.
23 Remote control unit (other butt ons) 5 RETURN button Press to return to the previous item. (Only for VCD, PBC on) 6 ZOOM Zoom the picture on screen. 7 Number butt ons Press these buttons to input numbers. Press the SHIFT button to switch from function to number if necessary.
24 Names of battery parts and their functions 1 DC IN connector Connect the power adapter to recharge. 2 Battery knob Twist to lock / unlock the battery pack. 3 Battery indicator LED. When the battery is discharging, LED is off. When recharging the battery, LED is red.

26 Connecting to a Dolby Digi tal / DTS / MPEG decoder or an a mplifier with built- in decoder With this player, you can enjoy pow erful Dolby Digital, DTS or MPEG sound. Output the digital signals from the player's digital output to a decoder or amplifier with built-in decoder.

29 Connecting earphone Connect the earphone plug securely to the PHONE JACK on the player. To listen to music through the earphone, first use the VOLUME CONTROL on the left side of the main unit to lower the volume to minimum level, then adjust the volume to comfortable le vel.
30 Using the battery Recharging the battery pack 1 Connect the output plug of AC / DC adapter to the battery pack. 2 Connect the AC / DC adapter to the power outlet. When recharging starts, the recharge LED lights red. The recharge LED turns off when recharging is complete.
31 Notes for recharging When the battery pack is hot, it may take longer t han usual t o recharge or it may sometimes not be possible to recharge it. Wait for the battery pa ck to cool down before tr ying again to recharge. If the recharge LED does not light, check whether the AC adapter and batt ery pack are properly connected.
32 If the power is switched on while the battery pack is not fully charged, the player operation ma y become unstable. Be sure to charge the battery pack fully before using. The battery pack is being recharged slowly while the player is playing with the AC adapter connected.
33 Turning on the power 1 Connect the AC adapter to a power socket. 2 Connect the DC output plug of the adapter to the DC input jack on the main unit. Main unit (front panel) 3 Hold the ON button on the main unit depressed for about 1.5 seconds. Remote control unit The power LED lights blue.
34 Playback functions Loading 1 Press OPEN button to open. (If no disk is in place, the tray will open automatically after power on.) 2 Without a power supply, the tray will not open automatically; you must insert the open-stick into the hole to open it.
35 Playing 1 Load the disc One of the following messages appears on the screen: DVD, VCD, CD. For some discs, playback start s automatically when the tray is closed. For a disc which has been programmed and stored in memory, playback starts automatically in the programmed order.
36 If a menu screen appears For DVDs with menu screen or video CDs with playback control (PBC), a menu screen appears. DVD Use the cursor buttons ( / / / ) to select the item, t hen press the ENTER button.
37 Returning to the previous chapter or track (DVDs, video CDs and CDs) Press the previous bu tton during playback. After pressing the previous button, playback returns t o the beginning of the previous chapter or track. Moving to the next chapter or track (DVDS, video CDs and CDs) Press the next button during playback.
38 Turning off the power 1 When the power is on, press OFF and hold it for about 1.5 seconds. The power LED shows red and the standby mode is set. The power can also be turned off by pressing the STANDBY button on the remote control unit. 2 Unplug the power cord from the power socket.
39 Advanced functions Searching for a specific scene 1 Press the SEARCH button. 2 Press the number button to input specific time or title / chapter. 3 Press the PLAY button or ENTER button.
40 Changing from AV OU T to AV IN You can change the player from AV OUT (output AV si gnal to TV, etc) to AV I N (input AV signal from other device) and use it as a TFT Monitor. Default sett ing is AV OUT. 1 Press MODE button on main unit and switch LCD mode to AV IN/OUT.
41 Setting up the Player General steps of setup 1 Press the SETUP button on the remote control, the main setup menu appears. 2 Press the LEFT and RIGHT buttons to highlight the icon of the desired page, then press the DOWN or UP button to activate that page.
42 System setup The system setup options ar e illustrated below: TV system If you want to connect the player t o a TV, please choose a valid TV system first. AUTO: Choose this setting if your DVD player is connect ed to a multi-system TV. NTSC: Choose this setting if your DVD player is connected to an NTSC TV.
43 TV type 16 : 9 (Wide Screen): Choose this setting if your DVD player is connected to a wide screen TV. If you choose this setting and do not have a wide screen TV , the images on the screen may appear dist orted due to vertical compression. 4 : 3 LB (Letter Box): Choose this setting if your DVD player is connected to a normal ratio TV.
44 Password 1 The player is locked with a def ault password “0000” and you cannot change the film rat ing. In order to change the rating, choose the password opt ion and input the correct password to unlock the player.
45 Default Choose this option to resume factory settings. Language setup The language setup options are illustrated below: OSD language Highlight OSD LANGUAGE option, and press LEFT / RIGHT / UP / DOWN to choose the OSD language you prefer. Press ENTER to confirm, then the OSD will be shown in that language.
46 Subtitle language Highlight the SUBTITLE LANG option, and press LEFT / RIGHT / UP / DOWN to choose the subtitle language you prefer. Press ENTER to confirm. If the disc you are playi ng has that language available, it will display subtitles in that language.
47 Audio setup Audio out Highlight the AUDIO OUT option, and press LEFT / RIGHT / UP / DOWN to choose the audio output mode you prefer. Press ENTER to confirm: There are 3 optional audio output modes: SPDI F/OFF, SPDIF / RAW and SPDIF/ PCM. SPDIF / OFF: Choose this setting to output an analog signal, and no signal output from the optical jack.
48 V ideo setup The video setup options are illustrated below: Brightness Use the UP and DOWN buttons to move the scroll and adjust the brightness. Contrast Use the UP and DOWN buttons to move the scroll and adjust the contrast.
49 Hue Use the UP and DOWN buttons to move the scroll and adjust the hue. Saturation Use the UP and DOWN buttons to move the scroll and adjust the saturation.
50 Digit al setup The digital setup options are illustrated below: Digital setup DYNAMIC RANGE: Choose this setting to adjust the li ne out compression ratio and get a different effect. If adjusting to FULL, the audio signal peak value will be compressed mi nimum, when adjusted to OFF, maximum.
51 Precautions during use Handling discs When holding with both hands When holding with one hand Do not use damaged, cracked or warped discs. Do not scratch the signal surface or let it get dirty. Do not attach paper or seals to discs. The player may be damaged if there is any exposed glue, etc.
52 Irregular shaped discs Irregular shaped discs (heart -shaped discs, hexagonal discs, etc. ) cannot be played on this player. Doi ng so could damage the player. Never use such discs. T rouble shooting Picture is disturbed when playing a DVD recorded by a VCR This player incorporates copyright protection te chnology.
53 Bad playback quality The player is set to AV OUT but there are other AV signals input from the AV jack. Player gets hot This is normal. Notes: The player may stop operating properly due to static electricity or other external causes. I n this case, the problem is usually solved by unplugging the power cord and then plugging it in again.
