Failure to use the driver and passenger seat belts pro- vided is a major cause of sever e or fatal injury . In fact, the U.S. government notes that the universal use of existing seat belts could cut the highway death toll by 10,000 or more each year and could r educe disabling injuries by two million annually .

inside door handle to the first detent. T o unlock the rear doors, pull the door lock knob on the door trim panel upward. If the lock knob is down when the door is closed, the door will lock. Therefor e, make sur e the key is not inside the vehicle before closing the door .
Power Door Locks The power door lock switch is located on each front door panel. Press the switch to lock or unlock the doors. If the lock knob is down when the door is closed, the door will lock. Therefore, make sure the Key Fob is not inside the vehicle before closing the door .
Automatic Unlock On Exit Feature — If Equipped If Auto Unlock is enabled, this feature will unlock all the doors when the driver’s door is opened if the vehicle is stopped and in P ARK or NEUTRAL.
W ARNING! A void trapping anyone in a vehicle in a collision. Remember that the rear doors can only be opened from the outside when the Child-Protection locks are engaged (locked). NOTE: For emergency exit with the system engaged, move the lock knob up (unlocked position), roll down the window and open the door with the outside door handle.

T o Enter The Liftgate W ith a valid Passive Entry RKE transmitter within 3 ft (1.0 m) of the liftgate, pr ess the button on the right side of the chrome accent bar , which is located on the liftgate below the liftgate glass to lock or unlock the vehicle.

The power window switches remain active for up to 10 minutes after the ignition switch has been turned OFF . Opening a vehicle front door will cancel this feature. Auto-Down Both the driver and front passenger window switches have an “Auto-Down” feature.
W ARNING! There is no anti-pinch protection when the window is almost closed. Be sure to clear all objects from the window before closing. Resetting The Auto Up Feature Should the Auto Up featur e stop working, the window probably needs to be reset. T o reset Auto Up: 1.
Wind Buffeting W ind buffeting can be described as the perception of pressur e on the ears or a helicopter -type sound in the ears. Y our vehicle may exhibit wind buffeting with the windows down, or the sunr oof (if equipped) in certain open or partially open positions.
W ARNING! Driving with the liftgate open can allow poisonous exhaust gases into your vehicle. Y ou and your pas- sengers could be injured by these fumes.
NOTE: • In the event of a power malfunction to the liftgate, an emergency liftgate latch release can be used to open the liftgate. The emergency liftgate latch release can be accessed through a snap-in cover located on the lift- gate trim panel.
• If the liftgate handle is pulled while the power liftgate is opening, the liftgate motor will disengage to allow manual operation. • The power liftgate buttons will not operate if the vehicle is in gear or the vehicle speed is above 0 mph (0 km/h).

W ARNING! (Continued) • It is dangerous to ride in a cargo area, inside or outside of a vehicle. In a collision, people riding in these areas are more likely to be seriously injured or killed. • Do not allow people to ride in any area of your vehicle that is not equipped with seats and seat belts.
W ARNING! • A belt that is buckled into the wrong buckle will not protect you properly . The lap portion could ride too high on your body , possibly causing internal injuries. Always buckle your belt into the buckle nearest you. • A belt that is too loose will not protect you prop- erly .
W ARNING! (Continued) • A belt that is worn under your arm is dangerous. Y our body could strike the inside surfaces of the vehicle in a collision, increasing head and neck injury . A belt worn under the arm can cause inter- nal injuries. Ribs aren’t as strong as shoulder bones.
5. Position the shoulder belt on your chest so that it is comfortable and not resting on your neck. The retrac- tor will withdraw any slack in the belt. 6. T o release the belt, push the red button on the buckle. The belt will automatically retract to its stowed posi- tion.
Lap/Shoulder Belt Untwisting Procedure Use the following procedur e to untwist a twisted lap/ shoulder belt. 1. Position the latch plate as close as possible to the anchor point. 2. At about 6 to 12 in (15 to 30 cm) above the latch plate, grasp and twist the belt webbing 180 degrees to create a fold that begins immediately above the latch plate.

W ARNING! • The belt and retractor assembly must be replaced if the seat belt assembly Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) feature or any other seat belt function is not working properly when checked according to the procedures in the Service Manual.
Supplemental Active Head Restraints (AHR) These head restraints are passive, deployable compo- nents, and vehicles with this equipment cannot be r eadily identified by any markings, only thr ough visual inspec- tion of the head restraint.
CAUTION! All occupants, including the driver , should not oper- ate a vehicle or sit in a vehicle’s seat until the head restraints are placed in their proper positions in order to minimize the risk of neck injury in the event of a collision.
1. Grasp the deployed AHR from the rear seat. 2. Position the hands on the top of the deployed AHR at a comfortable position. 3. Pull down then rearward towar ds the rear of the vehicle then down to engage the locking mechanism.
4. The AHR front soft foam and trim half should lock into the back decorative plastic half. NOTE: • If you have dif ficulties or problems resetting the Active Head Restraints, see an authorized dealer . • For safety reasons, have the Active Head Restraints checked by a qualified specialist at an authorized dealer .
Enhanced Seat Belt Use Reminder System (BeltAlert ா ) BeltAlert is a feature intended to remind the driver and front passenger (if equipped with front passenger BeltAlert ) to fasten their seat belts. The feature is active whenever the ignition is on.
Seat Belts And Pregnant Women W e recommend that pr egnant women use the seat belts throughout their pregnancy . Keeping the mother safe is the best way to keep the baby safe. Pregnant women should wear the lap part of the belt across the thighs and as snug across the hips as possible.
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) — Air Bags This vehicle has Advanced Front Air Bags for both the driver and front passenger as a supplement to the seat belt restraint systems. The driver’s Advanced Front Air Bag is mounted in the center of the steering wheel.
The Advanced Front Air Bags have a multistage inflator design. This allows the air bag to have different rates of inflation based on several factors, including the severity and type of collision.

W ARNING! • No objects should be placed over or near the air bag on the instrument panel, because any such objects could cause harm if the vehicle is in a collision severe enough to cause the air bag to inflate. • Do not put anything on or around the air bag covers or attempt to open them manually .
When the air bag deploys, it opens the seam between the front and side of the seat’s trim cover . Each air bag deploys independently; a left side impact deploys the left air bag only and a right-side impact deploys the right air bag only .
• Being too close to the SAB and SABIC air bags during deployment could cause you to be severely injured or killed. The system includes side impact sensors that are cali- brated to deploy the SAB and SABIC air bags during impacts that requir e side air bag occupant protection.
W ARNING! (Continued) • Y our vehicle is equipped with SABIC air bags, do not have any accessory items installed which will alter the roof, including adding a sunroof to your vehicle. Do not add roof racks that require perma- nent attachments (bolts or screws) for installation on the vehicle roof.

W ARNING! Deployed air bags and seat belt pretensioners cannot protect you in another collision. Have the air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and the front seat belt retrac- tor assemblies replaced by an authorized dealer im- mediately . Also, have the Occupant Restraint Con- troller (ORC) system serviced as well.
W ARNING! (Continued) • Do not attempt to modify any part of your air bag system. The air bag may inflate accidentally or may not function properly if modifications are made. T ake your vehicle to an authorized dealer for any air bag system service.
NOTE: If the speedometer , tachometer , or any engine related gauges ar e not working, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) may also be disabled. The air bags may not be ready to inflate for your pr otection. Promptly check the fuse block for blown fuses.
In addition to the vehicle manufacturer , other parties, such as law enforcement, that have the special equip- ment, can read the information if they have access to the vehicle or the EDR. Child Restraints Everyone in your vehicle needs to be buckled up at all times, including babies and children.

Lower Anchors and T ethers for Children (LA TCH) Restraint System Y our vehicle is equipped with the child restraint anchor- age system called LA TCH, which stands for Lower Anchors and T ethers for CHildren. The LA TCH system has three vehicle anchor points for installing LA TCH- equipped child seats.

Can two child restraints be attached using a common lower LA TCH anchorage? No Never “share” a LA TCH anchorage with two or more child r estraints.
Locating The LA TCH Anchorages The lower anchorages are round bars that are found at the rear of the seat cushion wher e it meets the seatback. They are just visible when you lean into the rear seat to install the child restraint. Y ou will easily feel them if you run your finger along the gap between the seatback and seat cushion.
Locating The LA TCH Anchorages In addition, there are tether strap anchorages behind each rear seating position located on the back of the seat. T o access the top tether strap anchorages behind the r ear seat, pull the carpeted floor panel away from the seat back, this will expose the top tether strap anchorages.
LA TCH-compatible child restraint systems will be equipped with a rigid bar or a flexible strap on each side. Each will have a hook or connector to attach to the lower anchorage and a way to tighten the connection to the anchorage. Forwar d-facing child restraints and some rear -facing infant restraints will also be equipped with a tether strap.
W ARNING! Never use the same lower anchorage to attach more than one child restraint. Please refer to “Installing The LA TCH-Compatible Child Restraint System” for typical installation instructions. Always follow the directions of the child restraint manu- facturer when installing your child r estraint.
T o Install A LA TCH-compatible Child Restraint 1. If the selected seating position has a Switchable Auto- matic Locking Retractor (ALR) seat belt, stow the seat belt, following the instr uctions below . Power Switch/V olume Control (Rotary) Push the ON/VOLUME control knob to turn on the radio. Push the ON/VOLUME control knob a second time to turn off the radio. Electronic V olume Control The electronic volume control turns continuously (360 degrees) in either direction, without stopping.
5. T o exit, press any button/knob, or wait five seconds. R W/FF Pressing the RW (Rewind) or FF (Fast Forward) buttons causes the tuner to sear ch for the next fr equency in the direction of the arr ows. This feature operates in either AM or FM frequencies.

EJECT Button - Ejecting a CD Press the EJECT button to eject the CD. If you have ejected a disc and have not removed it within 10 seconds, it will be reloaded. If the CD is not removed, the radio will reinsert the CD but will not play it. A disc can be ejected with the radio and ignition OFF .
SET/RND Button (Random Play Button) Press this button while the CD is playing to activate Random Play . This feature plays the selections on the compact disc in random order to pr ovide an inter esting change of pace. Press the right SEEK button to move to the next ran- domly selected track.

ID3 T ag information for artist, song title, and album title are supported for version 1 ID3 tags. ID3 version 2 is not supported by the radios. Playlist files are not supported. MP3 Pro files are not supported. Playback of MP3 Files When a medium containing MP3 data is loaded, the radio checks all files on the medium.
NOTE: The AUX device must be turned on and the device’s volume set to proper level. If the AUX audio is not loud enough, turn the device’s volume up. If the AUX audio sounds distorted, turn the device’s volume down. TIME Button (Auxiliary Mode) Press this button to change the display to time of day .
Power Switch/V olume Control (Rotary) Push the ON/VOLUME control knob to turn on the radio. Push the ON/VOLUME control knob a second time to turn off the radio. Electronic V olume Control The electronic volume control turns continuously (360 degrees) in either direction, without stopping.
Clock Setting Procedure 1. Press and hold the TIME button until the hours blink. 2. Adjust the hours by turning the right side TUNE/ SCROLL control knob. 3. After adjusting the hours, press the right side TUNE/ SCROLL contr ol knob to set the minutes.
Setting the T one, Balance, and Fade Push the rotary TUNE/SCROLL control knob and BASS will display . T urn the TUNE/SCROLL control knob to the right or left to increase or decrease the bass tones. Push the rotary TUNE/SCROLL control knob a second time and MID will display .
T oggle the MUSIC TYPE button to select the following format types: Program T ype 16-Digit Character Display No program type or un- defined None Adult Hits Adlt Hit Classical Classicl Classic Rock Cls.
By pressing the SEEK button when the Music T ype icon is displayed, the radio will be tuned to the next fr equency station with the same selected Music T ype name.
the SET/RND button twice and SET 2 will show in the display window . Each button can be set for SET 1 and SET 2 in both AM and FM. This allows a total of 12 AM and 12 FM stations to be stor ed into pushbutton memory . The stations stored in SET 2 memory can be selected by pressing the pushbutton twice.
If you insert a disc with the ignition ON and the radio ON, the unit will switch from radio to CD mode and begin to play when you insert the disc. The display will show the track number , and index time in minutes and seconds. Play will begin at the start of track 1.
SEEK Button Press the right SEEK button for the next selection on the CD. Press the left SEEK button to return to the beginning of the current selection, or return to the beginning of the previous selection if the CD is within the first second of the current selection.
Supported Media (Disc T ypes) The MP3 file recor ding media supported by the radio are CDDA, CD-R, CD-R W , MP3, and CDDA+MP3. Supported Medium Formats (File Systems) The medium formats supported by the radio are ISO 9660 Level 1 and Level 2 and includes the Joliet extension.
Supported MP3 File Formats The radio will recognize only files with the *.MP3 exten- sion as MP3 files. Non-MP3 files named with the *.MP3 extension may cause playback problems. The radio is designed to recognize the file as an invalid MP3 and will not play the file.
Playback of MP3 Files When a medium containing MP3 data is loaded, the radio checks all files on the medium. If the medium contains a lot of folders or files, the radio will take more time to start playing the MP3 files.
Press the INFO button once mor e to return to Љ elapsed time Љ priority mode. Press and hold the INFO button for three seconds or more and the radio will display song titles for each file. Press and hold the INFO button again for three seconds to return to Љ elapsed time Љ display .
Radio. This service offers over 130 channels of music, sports, news, entertainment, and programming for chil- dren, dir ectly fr om its satellites and broadcasting studios. NOTE: Sirius service is not available in Hawaii and has limited coverage in Alaska.
Selecting Uconnect Multimedia (Satellite) Mode Press the SA T button until Љ SA T Љ appears in the display . A CD may r emain in the radio while in the Satellite radio mode. Satellite Antenna T o ensure optimum reception, do not place items on the roof ar ound the r ooftop antenna location.
remain tuned to the new channel until you make another selection. Holding either button will bypass channels without stopping until you release it. SCAN Button Pressing the SCAN button causes the tuner to search for the next channel, pausing for eight seconds befor e con- tinuing to the next.
By pressing the SEEK button when the Music T ype function is active, the radio will be tuned to the next channel with the same selected Music T ype name. If a preset button is activated while in the Music T ype (Program T ype) mode, the Music T ype mode will be exited and the radio will tune to the preset channel.
iPod ா /USB/MP3 CONTROL — IF EQUIPPED This feature allows an iPod or external USB device to be plugged into the USB port, located in the center console or glove compartment. iPod control supports Mini, 4G, Photo, Nano, 5G iPod and iPhone devices.
NOTE: The center console will have a position where the iPodt or consumer electronic audio device cable can be routed through without damaging the cable when clos- ing the lid. A factory cut out space for the cable to be routed may be located in the base of the center console on either the fr ont or side.
