50 C C C h h h a a a p p p t t t e e e r r r 5 5 5 D D D N N N S S S S S S e e e t t t t t t i i i n n n g g g Generally speaking, DNS server is either set up by an IT comp any or set up by oneself. ES-4000V2 has the function of resolving domain name which enables user to set up a DNS server on user ’s o wn without any expanded co st.
51 DNS Configuration Foremost, register the IP address on IDNs (Int ernat ional Domain Names) offici al website. 1. Then regist er airlive.com as domain n ame 2. Supposed that IP segment are given as follow: 61.1 1.1 1.10 ~ 61.1 1.1 1.14 21 1.22.22.
5.1 A (Address) This is used to map up IP addresses and domain names. Ex. Build up the mapping between domain name s and IP addresses. (T able 5-1) Domain Names T ype IP Address host1.airlive.com A 61.1 1.1 1.12 host2.airlive.com A 61.1 1.1 1.13 host2.
5.2 CNAME (Canonical NAME) This type allows mapped domain names to have one webs ite address or above available for web browse rs at the same time. T ype CNAME is capable of ma pping a type “ A ” mapped domain name, yet it is not recommended mapping a type “ CNAME ” domain name.
5.3 MX (eXchanger) It served as a mail agent for DNS serv er and a window to the o utside for mail servi ces. In spite of ailing for mail server replacement, the mail serv er could be back to function in no tim e just by modifying the DNS address. Ex.
55 Therefore, mail will go to host3.airlive.com according to SMTP Protocol. Name: Custo mize a DNS host name. Reverse: reverse a domain name lookup of it s IP addre ss.
5.4 SPF (Sender policy FrameW ork) SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is a type of verification process that is used to prevent fake e-mail addresses by identifying the authenticity of the e-mail sender and filtering out sp am.
57 5.5 Example Further Description: DNS directing indicates b y which DNS server is managi ng and in which DNS has det ailed domain name information. Any specific information can be obt ained in the DNS server , such as physical address of website or mail server .
Example: Setup a host name server Procedure: 1. Register airlive.com as domain n ame. 2. Set primary host name server as 61.1 1.1 1.1 1 and domain name as dns1.airlive.com Set secondary host name server as 2 1 1 . 2 2 . 2 2 . 2 2 and domain name as dns2.
Step2. Set up DNS according to the settings below: (T able 5-5) Domain Name T ype IP Address Reverse Priority airlive.com. A 6 1 . 1 1 . 1 1 . 11 Enabled -- airlive.
Step3. Set up DNS according to the settings below: (T able 5-6) Domain Name T ype IP Address Priority web.airlive.com A 6 1 . 1 1 . 11 . 1 1 -- web.airlive.com A 2 1 1 . 2 2 . 2 2 . 2 2 -- www .airlive.com CNAME web.airlive.co m -- T able 5-6 CNAME record of www .
61 According to aforementioned, w eb.ai rlive.com is used to map host name and it s IP address. And www .airlive.com, a CNAME of web.airlive.com, of fers inquiry ability and redirect ion to web.airlive.com. As seen from T ab. 4-6, it c an be inferred that when br owsing www .
Mapping between Servers (Web / FTP / Mail) and Domain Name Prep aration 1. Apply to ISP for two fixed IP ADSL Internet conn ections ( The fixed IP of W AN1 is 61.1 1.1 1.10 ~ 61.1 1.1 1.14 ) ( The fixed IP of W AN2 is 21 1.22.22.18 ~ 21 1.22.22.
