2 GENERAL SAFETY RULES W oodworking can be dangerous if safe and proper operating pr ocedures ar e not followed. As with all machinery , there ar e cer- tain hazards involved with the operation of the pr oduct. Using the machine with respect and caution will considerably lessen the possibility of personal injury .
3 ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR SANDING CENTER 1. WARNING: Do not operate this tool until assembly and installation are complete, according to instructions. 2. WARNING: Unguar ded rotating shafts can cr eate an entanglement hazard. AL WA YS COVER THE POWER T AKE- OFF SHAFT when accessories are not in use.

2 5 Use proper extension cor ds. Make sure your extension cor d is in good condition and is a 3-wire extension cor d which has a 3-prong gr ounding type plug and matching receptacle which will accept the tool’ s plug. When using an extension cord, be sur e to use one heavy enough to carry the current of the tool.

8 OPERA TING CONTROLS AND ADJUSTMENTS ST AR TING AND STOPPING THE TOOL The on-off switch (A) Fig. 14 is located on the sander base. T o tur n the sander “ON”, move the switch to the up position. T o turn the sander “OFF”, move the switch to the down position.

ADJUSTING BEL T SANDER T ABLE MITER GAUGE SLOT P ARALLEL TO SANDING BEL T 1. DISCONNECT TOOL FROM POWER SOURCE. 2. Position the table (Figs. 25 and 26) 90 degrees to the belt. Place a squar e (B) in the miter gauge slot with the blade (C) of the square touching the sanding belt.

Loosen the lock handle (B), position the arm (A) to the desired angle, and tighten the lock handle (B).

13 ADJUSTING SANDING DISC GUARD 1. DISCONNECT TOOL FROM POWER SOURCE. 2. Adjust the sanding disc guard (A) Fig. 35, so that the fr ont edge of the guard is slightly in fr ont of the sanding disc for small work, and slightly behind the sanding disc for lar ge work.
POWER T AKE-OFF SHAFT 1. DISCONNECT TOOL FROM POWER SOURCE. 2. A power take-off shaft is pr ovided on the lower end of the sanding belt arm to accommodate accessories. 3. For access to the power take-off shaft, r emove the two screws (A) Fig. 43, and cover (B).
