4 Do not try to stabilize the mach ine by putting your foot on the ground. Do not use the grass catcher on steep slopes. Do not tow heavy pull behind attachments (e.g. loade d dump cart, lawn roller) on slopes greater than 5 de- grees. When goin g downhill, the extra weight may cause you to loose co ntrol and possibly over turn the tractor.
5 14. Observe proper disposal laws and regulatio ns. Improper disposal of fluids and materials can harm the environment and the ecology. a. Prior to dispo sal, contact yo ur local Environmental Prot ection Agency to determine th e proper method fo r disposing of the waste.
6 SECTION I. TRACTOR AND DECK PREPARATION A. DECK PREPARATION WARNING When handling th e mower deck, be ca reful not to cut yourself on the sharp blades. Remove the top and break down the sides of the crate to remove the deck assembly from the shipping container.
7 WARNING Place the tractor on a level surface and en gage the parking brake lever. NOTE Tractors built Mfg. Code 1K060G and after ar e equipped with a deck downstop featu re. In the raised position, the downstop will prevent the lift links from being adeq uate ly lowered to allow in- stallation of the deck.
8 SECTION II. INSTALLATION AN D REMOVAL OF MOWER DECK A. INSTALLATION OF DECK After locking the left lift link as described in Section I , start the tractor and use the hydr aulic lift to fully raise the left lift link (See Figur e 5). Stop the engine.
9 5. Unlock the left lift link by sliding the left lift rod fully rearward in the slot of the lift link (See Figure 8). Figure 8 NOTE The following step 6 applie s only to the initial installation of the mower deck on the trac tor.
10 9. Guide the LH and RH lift links into the slots of th e rear deck brackets and release the deck support pins by aligning with the inner holes of the deck brackets (See Figure 12) NOTE: The han dle of the support pins should be positioned to the rear of the deck brackets as shown in Figure 12.
11 B. REMOVAL OF DECK Place the tractor and mower deck on a firm and level surface with enough room to slide the deck out from the left side of the tractor. WARNING Before removing th e mower deck, place the PTO switch in the “OF F” position, engage th e parking brak e lever, and tur n ignition key to the “OFF” position .
12 SECTION III. ADJUSTMENTS DECK LEVELING ADJUSTMENTS In order to achieve even cutting, the mower deck must be properly leveled. This leveling pr ocedure will result in the left and right blades having corresponding cutting- edge-to ground measurements within 1/16 inch of each other.
13 Figure 19 2. Measure and record the distance from the front cutting edge to the ground (measure A), and from the rear cutting edge to the ground (mea sure B), for both outer blades. The front edge of each blade (measure A) should be lo wer than its back edge (measure B) by approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch.
14 USING HEIGHT ADJUSTME NT KNOB NOTE Tractors built Mfg. Code 1K060G and after ar e equipped wit h a height adj ustment knob wh ich can be used to set the do wnstop position of th e mower deck. A full rotation of t he height adjustment knob eq uals ap- prox.
15 SECTION IV. MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE DECK Using The Deck Wash Syst em WARNING When using the deck wash system, never engage the d eck from any position other than the operat or’s seat of the tr actor. Do not u se an assistant or engage de ck in the pr esence of an y bystanders.
16 When reinstalling the blades, be sure they are installed so that the wind wings are pointing upward toward the top of the deck. Tighten the nuts to 90 to 110 ft-lbs. (122 to 149 N·m). After replacing the blades, apply grease to the exposed threads at the bottom of the spindles to prevent rust buildup.

Lift the gea r box / mounting b racket assembly to install the belt aroun d the rear of the drive pulley and through the center opening of the mounting bracket. 2. Install the gear box mounting bracket on the deck mounting plate and secure with the original fasteners removed earlier.
18 LUBRICATION GUIDE The life of any machine depends upon the care it is given. Proper lubrication is a very import ant part of that care. Be certain that all lubrication f ittings are assembled in place, using the lubrication illustration as a guide.
19 PRODUCT GRAPHICS Keep safety product gr aphics (decals) clean. Replace any safety graph ic that is damaged, destroyed, missing, painted over or can no longer be read.
