10 Ignition / Light Switc h To prevent acc idental startin g and/or battery d ischarge , remove the ke y from the ig nition s witch when th e tractor is not in use. The combinatio n ligh ts an d ignit ion sw itch ha s four positions . See Figure 8 for a descripti on of eac h positio n.
11 Seat A djustment L ever The seat adju stment lever is locate d below the se at. This leve r is used to adjust the seat forward or bac k. Refer to Figure 1 3 on page 15. Deck Fr ont Lift Rod Assembl y For shippi ng purposes , the deck front lift rod assembly has be en installe d on the tractor.
12 SECTION 7: OPERATION Safety Interlock Switches This trac tor is eq uipped wit h a safet y interlock system for the protectio n of the opera tor. If the inte rlock sys tem sh ould e ver m alf uncti on, d o no t operate the tractor. C ontact yo ur authorize d Cub Cadet Dealer.
13 • Place the PTO switc h in the “ OFF ” position. Place the thro ttle contro l lever between the “ MID ” and “ FAST ” positions . Then turn the ignitio n key to the “ OFF ” posi tion. • Remove the k ey from the ignition switch . Dri ving The T ract or WARNING: Avoid sudden starts, excessiv e speed a nd sudden s tops.
14 Before opera ting the tractor on any slope, w alk the sl ope to look for possibl e hazards s uch as rocks . mounds, ruts, stum ps or other su rface irregulariti es which c ould cause th e tractor to b e upset. Back the tractor with attachmen t up the steepes t portion of ea ch slope yo u intend to w ork.
15 WARNING: To avoid possi- ble injury, do not allow anyon e in the area opposit e the dis- charge chute whil e mowing. Although the ar ea has been supposedly clea red of f oreign objects, small object s may be picked up and dischar ged by the mower.
16 Steering Whe el Tilt Adjustment WARNING: Do not adj ust the steerin g wheel whe n the tractor is m oving. Adjust ing the steerin g wheel while the tractor is m oving could cause the o perator to los e control of the tractor.
17 • With the b rake peda l diseng aged, inse rt an .030 ” feeler gau ge betw een the inner brak e pad and th e rotor. If the .030 ” ga uge does not fit , the brakes are ov erly tighten ed and should be loosene d. • Attempt to insert an .060 ” feeler gauge betw een the inner bra ke pad and the rotor.

20 Batt ery R e m o va l The bat tery is l ocate d un der t he da sh panel in the frame pede sta l. To remove the battery : • Open the trac tor hood by lif ting it at the notche s in the sid e pane ls .
21 • To remove the bu lb assemb ly from the reflector, turn the socket coun- terclock wise to align its locking tab s with the notche s in the refle ct or. • Replace light bu lb with lik e part. • Align t he tabs on t he bulb a ssembl y and the notc hes in the reflector and insert light bul b.
22 Add ing T ransm issi on O il WARNING: The fluid for your transmis sion has been spe- cially formula ted to ensure the safe and prope r opera- tion of your trac tor. Add Cub Cadet Drive Syste m Fluid Plus ONLY. Do not use any other fluid. WARNING: Never overfill the transmis sion case.

29 To remove the spa rk plugs , alway s use a sp ark plug wrench. C heck th e gap aft er every 100 hours of operation. Replac e a defective p lug with a new plug. Set t he spark plug gap at .040 inch. Tighte n the plug to 18-22 ft-lbs. See your a uthorized dealer f or the correc t replacemen t plug.
