5 Inserting the Batteries The camera is powered by a rechar geable lithium-ion battery (Li-Ion 820 mAh). Open the battery cover . y Slide the battery cover in the direction indicated by t he arrow . Insert the batteries. y Install the b a ttery with the terminal facing inside the camera.
6 y Risk of explosion if battery is re placed by an incorrect type dispose of used batteries according to the instructions. y Be sure to turn of f the c amera power before insert or remove batteries. y Remove batteries if you will n o t be using them for a long time.
7 About Camera Memory This camera is equipped with internal memory . If the memory card is not inserted in the camera, all images and movie clip s recorded by the camera will be sto red in the in ternal memory . If the memory card is inserted, images and movie clip s are stored on the memory card.
8 Setting the Date & Ti me T urn the power on, and set the camera to the Setup Menu ( page 17). Select [ Date & Ti me]. y Press or to select [Date & Tim e ] then press or the SET button to launch the submenu. Set Date & Ti me y Press or to change the value of the cursor locate d.
9 Using the LCD Monitor The LCD monitor is us ed to comp ose ima ges while reco r ding, ad just setting s and rep lay images. Th e following indicators may appear on the LCD monitor while recording or playing back images.

12 Basic Operation T urning the Power On / Off Press the POWER button ( n ) to turn on the camera in the REC mode. y The power turns on, the lens ex ten ds and the LED light s in green. Press the PLA YBACK button ( o ) to turn on the camera in the PLA YBACK mode.
13 Changing the Mode Y ou can record images and voic es in the REC mode. And using the PLA YBACK mode to replay , delete, or edit images on the L CD m onitor . Switching between REC mode and PLA YBACK mode In REC mode: press the PLA YBACK button ( n ) to switch to the PLA Y mode.

15 Selecting the ASM mode Set the camera to the REC mode ( pa g e 1 3 ) . y It cannot be switch to ASM mode while in Movie or V oice REC mode. Launch the ASM mode. y Press the ASM button ( n ) to toggle switch between Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual Exposure mode.
16 Using the Menus When a menu is displayed, the fou r-way control and the SET button are used to make the desired settings. REC menu T urn the power on, and set the camera to the REC mode ( pa g e 1 3 ) . Open the REC menu. y Press the MENU button ( n ) to display the menu.

18 Press the MENU ( n ) button to close the menu. Setup menu list Menu Item Functions Sounds [Shutter] : [St art-up] : [Beep] : [V olume] : Sets the shutter sou nd on and off. Sets a type of the st art-up sound. Sets the operation so und on and off. Adjusts the v olume of the shutter sound, start-up sound, beep and play b ack sound.
19 Menu Item Functions [Reset] : Reset file numbering each time the memory card is changed. y Resetting the file number is useful for avoiding the file name duplication when im ages are downloaded to a computer ( page 50). Y ou can review images on a telev ision with a su pplied A V cable ( page 48).
20 Basic Recording Recording Still Images T urn the power on, and set the camera to the REC mode ( pa g e 1 3 ) . Compose the subject on the monitor . y Aim the focus area ( n ) to the subject that you want to t ake. Half press the shutter button to focus the image.
21 Using the Q mode The Q mode provides a simplif ied camera interface. Larger icons and fewer controls make it easier to take pictures a nytime, especially for the begin ners and elder users.
22 Setting Image Size and Quality Y ou can select lower image resolution and quality to decr ease the image size to capture more images. 23 Using the Zoom Function Your camera has a combination o f optical and digital zoom functions that allows you to zoom in on far away subjects o r zo om out for a wide angle shot. The optical zoom is achieved by m echa nically adjusting the lens of the came ra.
24 Using the Flash The flash is not only for taking p ictu res when th ere is insufficient light, but also when the subject is in shade or in backl ight conditions. Press the flas h button to cycle your camera through the various flash mod es. The flas h will not activate when c ontinuo us shooting or movie recording.
25 Using the Macro Your camera is equipped with a macro fun c tio n that allows you to focus on very close subjects. In macro mode you can focus on subjects 10 c m from the lens when in the maximum wide angle setting a nd 50 cm in the maximum telephoto setting.
26 Using the Self-timer & Burst Use the self-timer to set a delay from the time t he shutter button is pressed to the time the image is shot. Use the burst to record cont inuous still images shooting. T urn the power on, and set the camera to the REC mode ( p age 13).
27 Using the Aperture Priority In this mode, you can set an apert ure v alue to match the brightness. A higher aperture value brings the b ackgroun d o ut of focus. Sele cting a lo wer ape rture v alue allo ws you to soft the bac kground. T urn the power on, and set the camera to the Aperture Priority ( pa g e 1 5 ) .
28 Using the Manual Exposure Y ou can manually set the shutter speed and a perture to achieve a particular ef fect. T urn the power on, and set the camera to the Manual Exposure ( pa g e 1 5 ) . 2 Use the SET button to switch between aperture value and shutter speed control.
29 Recording Movie Clip s T urn the power on, and set the camera to the Movie mode ( pa g e 1 3 ) . Compose the subject on the monitor . y Aim the focus area ( q ) to the subject that you want to t ake. y The LCD monitor displays the available record ing time ( p ).
30 Recording Audio Clip s T urn the power on, and set the camera to the V oice REC mode ( pa g e 1 3 ) . Press the shutter button to st art recording. y The voices are recorde d from the microphone ( n ) of the camera. Be careful to avoid touching the microphone while recording.
31 Recording a V oice Memo Y ou can add a voice memo to the still ima ges after you record it. T urn the power on, and set the camera to the PLA YBACK mode ( pa g e 1 3 ) . Press or to select a still image that you want to add a voice memo. y If the image already has the v oice memo recorded, the appears on the LCD monitor .
32 Other Recording Functions Setting the Metering There are 3 different light metering options av ailable on your camera. Option Description Light is measured from the entir e s hooting screen, but gives more import ance to the values near the center .
33 Setting the ISO With the initial settings, the ISO sensitivit y is automatically set according to the brightness of the subject. Option Description Auto Sets the ISO sensitivity automatic ally . ISO 50 Sets the se nsitivity to ISO 50 equivalent. ISO 100 Set s the se nsitivity to ISO 100 equivalent.
34 Setting the Sharpness Y ou can select whether you want the imag e to have sharp or soft outlines. Option Description The edges of the image are em ph asized. The edges will become sharp, but noise may occur in the r ec o rding image. The edges of the image are sharp.
35 Setting Face T racking After initializing face tr acking function, the le ns will lock the main char acter in th e picture and follow the moveme nt s. Also use auto digit al zoom technology to retract and extract zoom lens that allows you to bec ome the focus of lens.
36 Playback Playback Images T urn the power on, and set the camera to the PLA YBACK mode ( p a ge 13). y The latest recorded image appears on the LCD monitor . y If there are no images stored, a message [No image] appears. Press the four-way control or ( n ).
37 Magnifying & T rimming Still Images T urn the power on, and set the camera to the PLA YBACK mode ( p age 13). Select an image. y Press or ( p ) to select the image that you want to magnify or trimming. y Only still images can be magnified and trimmed.
38 Vie wing in Thumbnail T urn the power on, and set the camera to the PLA YBACK mode ( pa g e 1 3 ) . Press the zoom button [W], a thumbnail screen is displayed. Use the four- way control to select the desired image, and press [ T] or the SET button to show the selected image in full screen.
39 Deleting Files Deleting a Single File T urn the power on, and set the camera to the PLA YBACK mode ( pa g e 1 3 ) . Open the menu. y Press the MENU button ( n ), then use the four-way control ( o ) to select Delete ( ) and press the SET button ( o ).
40 Deleting Multiple Files T urn the power on, and set the camera to the thumbnail screen ( pa g e 3 8 ) . Open the menu. y Press the MENU button, then Press or to select to select Delete ( ) and press the SET button. Press or to select [Select], and then press the SET button.
41 Protecting a Single File T urn the power on, and set the camera to the PLA YBACK mode ( pa g e 13). Open the menu. y Press the MENU button, then use the four-way control to select Protect ( ) and press the SET button. Press or to select [SINGLE], and then press the SET button.

45 Copying the Files Y ou may copy the data from the camera’s internal memory to the memory card for convenience. Be sure you have inserted a memory card into your digit al camera. Set the camera to the PLA YBACK mode. ( pa g e 1 3 ) . Open the menu.
46 Setting the DPOF The Digital Print Ord e r Format (DPOF) setting allows y ou to select images on the memory card for printing and specify the num ber of print copies in advance using the camera. This is extremely conve nie nt for sending the images to a photo developing service or for printing on a dir ect pr int function compatible printer .

48 Making Connections Connecting the Camera to a TV Y ou can display recorded imag es on a television with a supplied A V cable.
