PREPARATION 1.1 Opening the cover Release the 2 slide-locks and simultaneously slide out the cover.
1.5 Closing the battery compartment Replace the plastic side cover. NOTE : Certain D-Cells are longer than standard D-Cell batteries and slight difficulty may be found in clos ing the compartment if such batteries are us ed.

Using the Sonosax externa l power supply: IMPORTANT : Before turning on the uni t, make sure the voltage selector is co rrectly positi oned at either 110V or 220V depending on loca l current supply. If needed, cha nge selector position by usin g a screwdriver, a ball poin t pen or similar instrumen t.
Traditional professional mixi ng consoles are all based on t he same input structure. The signal from the micro phone goes through a phase reversal switch and then to a pad to attenuate the signal before goin g to the first amplification stage. Some mixers even introdu ce a transf ormer before the first stag e to simplify the circuits.
3.2 Installa tion Procedu re Disconnect the Neutrik and dual Bantam conne ctor from the module circuit board and install them in the appropriate blank holes on the mixer's back panel.
3.8 ON Switch With S-4 on the circuit board in Power position this swi tch turns the entire power to the mod ule on and off. An audible pop will be introd uced on the mixer's output if this s witch is used during op eration. This function is useful to conserve power when only a few chan nels are being used.

6.3 The Boom Box The Boom Box connects to the SX-S extension modul e via a 2-pair cable with 6-pin Neutrik conne ctors. On the Boom Box is a boom-operator's headphone Jack (6,3 mm, st ereo), a standard XLR female plug to conne ct to a talkback mic, or to the Boom mic if used with Y-splitt ers on the SX-S end.
6.8 Slate butto n The slate bu tton rout es the slate microphone t o the main L & R outp uts, and if jumper 9 is installed, also to the AUX mix-bus (jumper 9-slate to AUX). By selecting pos. 4 on the DIP mini-switch a 27 Hz slate tone is sent to the main mix, and AUX (if jumper 9 is insta lled), every time you press the slate button.
The Tape / direct switch sele cts between monitoring the Aud io signal before the tape or after the ta pe (off-tape- monitoring). Thi s allows you to immediately check the recorded program material, provided your recorder has the tape monitoring feature.

To make the external slate Mic operatio nal you will need to solder in R-7=15kOhms (R-5=49.9) a nd C-11=22pF remove R-10 on the exten sion module operato r board. Unsolder the intern al mic on Connectors J-10 & J-11. Then connect J-12 to th e Bantam jack.
8. FOUR CHANNEL MATRIX MODULE The four-channe l matrix provides four outputs and four ta pe returns to acco modate 4-track recorders while still allowing a normal ster eo or two-tr ack mix. Connection s to the 4-track device is made throu gh a 10 pin LEMO connector and Le mo to XLR adaptor cable.
9. ADDITIONAL AUX MODULE The Aux Module provides 2 a dditional Auxiliary Ou tputs available on two Bantam Jacks on the rear of the mixer. 9.1 AUX Send potent iometers The signal of each of the Inpu ts can be directed to th e 2 Auxilia ry Outputs through the potentiome ter pairs marked 1 through 8.

Switches 1 through 8: these switches select the input source, the signals ar e switched to the monitoring circuit.
A switch will select between the right Outp ut or the AUX Bus. 11.3 Limiter A switch will select normal operation or a limi ter which limi ts the level to the nominal opera ting level (1,55 or 4,4 Volts depending on th e output level selected). 11.4 Left and Aux / right LEDs These LEDs illuminate to ind icate limiter activity.
12.4 VCA option The SX-V modules can be mounted with VCAs inste ad of plain faders. A DB25 computer type connector allows control of the VCA with an external DC voltag e (for exampl e a video editor). The control voltage ranges from 0 to 5 volts. When used with an external controll ers, the faders must be positione d at 0dB.
