5 About th is man ual... This manual e xplains how to perf or m various operations that are enab led when you connect an ex ternal device to the USB por t of the XJ-S35 (Data Projector) . T erms and Con ventions In this manual, there are many procedures that require parallel operations on the Data Projector and your computer .
6 About th e Data Pr ojector’ s USB Functio ns The USB por t that is built i nto the Data Projector lets you connect an e xternal USB device and use it as an input source f or image projection. USB Memor y Device Y ou can connect a commercially av ailable USB memor y device to the USB por t and project images and movies stored on the device .
7 Wireless Adapter (CASIO YW -2) Establishing a connection between the Data Projector and a computer ov er a wireless LAN makes it possib le to project the display contents of t he computer’ s screen from the Data Projector . Y ou can ha ve up to f our computers connected to the Data Projector ov er a wireless LAN at the same time.
8 Document Camera (CASIO YC-400) Y ou can connect a CASIO YC-400 Docume nt Camera to the Data Projector’ s USB por t and project the images of documents placed on the docume nt stage of the YC-400. For more inf ormation, see “Perf orming a Prese ntation Using the YC-400 Document Camera” on page 93.
9 Connecting a USB De vice to t he Data Pr ojector What happens when you connect a USB device to the Data Projector depends on the current configuration of the Data Projector’ s plug-and-play setting. Plug-and-pla y is enab led under the Data Projector’s ini tial default settings.
10 Connecting to a USB Device while the Data Pr oject or is On If y ou connect a USB device to t he Data Projector’ s USB port while it is turned on, it will perform one of the foll owing operations (depending on its current plug-and-play setting).
11 Installing Data Pr ojector Software Use the procedures in this section to install the software that comes b undled with the Data Projector onto your computer . Minimum S ystem Requirements The follo wing describes minimum c omputer system requirements to r un the bundled soft wa re .
12 T o install software 1 Place the bundled CD-ROM into your computer’ s CD-ROM drive. z This d ispla ys the dia log bo x sho wn belo w . 2 Select the check bo x of the software you want to install. 3 Click the [Install] button. z This will start installation.
13 z The dial og bo x shown belo w w ill app ear after installation is complete . 5 Click t he [F inish] button. z In respons e to the “ Restart” confirmation dialo g box , clic k the [Y es] button .
14 Projecting Presentation Imag es fr om a USB Memory Device This section e xplains how to perf orm the follo wing operations. z Using the bundled EZ-Conv er ter sof tw are to sav e a presentation fil.
15 The image data types listed below can be pla yed back using the Data Projector’ s V ie wer . z JPEG format (jpg, jpeg, jpe) and BMP format (bmp) image files • Pla yback of image files of appro ximately 6 Mbytes is suppor ted. • Progressive JPEG image files are not supported.

17 Crea ting New Presen tatio n Data There are two wa ys that you can use EZ-Con verter to creat e ne w presentation data: by conv er ting a P owerP oint file (see below) or b y inser ting image files into the presentation data manually (page 19).
18 4 Select the Po werP oint file you want to convert and then clic k [Open]. z This st ar ts con version of the P owerP oint file , which is indic ated b y the appea rance of a dialog box that sho ws the pro gres s of the co nv ersion.
19 Note z Instead of steps 3 and 4 of the abov e procedure, you could also drop a single P owerP oint file into the EZ-Conv er ter window . z Conv ert ing a P owerP oint file to presentation data will generate the follo wing folder , image files and presentation file.
20 3 Drag the selected files into the EZ-Converter window . z This will ins er t the image files int o the present ation dat a and displa y thei r thumbnails in the EZ- Conver ter win dow . 4 Add, delete, move, and otherwise edit the images as required.
21 2 Configure the setting on the dialog box as described below . 3 After selecting the settin g y ou want, click the [OK] b utton. z This wil l apply the setting and c lose th e dialog bo x.
22 Note Instead of steps 2 and 3 of the abov e procedure, you could clic k or you could select [Add Image to Presentation File] on the [Edit] menu. Then on the di alog box that appears, select one image file that y ou want to add to t he presentation data.
23 Configuring Presentation Data Play back Settings Y ou can configure the f o llowing pla yback settings f or playbac k of EZ-Conv er ter presentation data with the Data Projector’ s Viewer .
24 3 Configure the f ollowing s ettings o n the dia log bo x. 4 After c onfigurin g all th e settings you want, clic k th e [OK] b utton. When you w ant to do this: Do this: Change images m anually du ring a presentat ion Select [Ma nual] for [Displ ay Interval].
25 Image T ransition Effects When “On” is selected for the “Image T ransition Eff ect” setting on the “Presentation File Setup” dialog box, y ou can select a visual effect to be applied any time y ou transition from one image file to another .
26 Saving Pres entation Dat a Use the procedures in this section to save presentation data to a USB memor y device or to your computer’ s hard disk. T o sa ve present ation data to a ne w file 1 Perf o rm the procedure under “Creating New Presentation Data” (page 17).

36 Using the Present ation Men u The folder that contains the presentation file created using the EZ-Conv er ter software ( page 15) that comes bundled with the Data Projector is called a “presentation f older” . Presentation folders appear along with other f o lders on the Vie wer file menu, and the y are indistinguishable from other f olders.
37 T o perf orm a slidesho w b y running a presenta tion file 1 Use the [ T T T T ] and [ S S S S ] keys to move the highlighting to the presentation file you want to run. 2 Press the [ENTER] key or the [ ] key . z This will start the curre ntly selecte d presentati on file.
38 Operations during Image File Content Projection T o scr oll between image files Use the [ X ] and [ W ] k eys. Note Scrolling to a file that is too l arge to fit within the projection area will cause the message “Cann ot displa y an image f ile .

41 Configuring Viewer Setup Menu Sett ings Y ou can use the Viewer Setup Menu to configure viewer displa y settings and to perf orm a presentation using playbac k settings that are diff erent from those that were stored with presentation data us ing EZ-Conv er ter .

46 Some fold ers an d/or files are no t displa yed in the file menu • All the f olders and/or files contained in a f older will not be displ ay ed if there are more than 999 f olders and/or files inside the f older . If this happens, reduce the number of folders and/or files in t he folder .
47 Per forming a Presentation Using a W ireless LAN (Projecting Comput er Screen Cont ents Over a Wirele ss LAN) This section e xplains how to establish a wireless LAN connection between the Data Projector and a computer and project the computer’ s screen contents ov er the wireless LAN.

53 Important! The abov e procedure will not estab lish a wireless LAN connection if the connection profile of the Data Projector is diff erent from the profile used the first time a connection was establi shed between the computer and Data Projector (Simple Connection 1 in this ex ample).

58 12 Move the high light ing to the XJ-S 35 Data Pr ojector to whic h y ou want t o connect and then click the [OK] bu tton. z Normally , the re will be only one Dat a Projector in th e list (the one whose sett ings you are conf iguring) so y ou should be able t o click t he [OK] b utton wit hout doing a nythi ng else.
59 15 Click the [OK] button. 16 On the Wireless Connection window, click o ne of the projection area position buttons and then clic k the button. z This will cause t he contents of t he computer screen to b e projected so the y fill the entire pr ojection a rea.

65 Switching the Data Proj ector Connection Pr ofile The Data Projector uses one of its six connection profiles to connect to a computer over a wireless LAN.
66 T o switc h the Data Pr ojector connection pr ofile 1 On the Data Projector’ s remote cont r oller , press the [ ] key . z This wil l cause the con nection pr ofile menu to appear in the projec tion area.
67 T o use W eb Setup to modify the Data Pr ojector co nnection pr ofile fr om a computer Important! P e rf orming the procedure belo w will terminate the current wireless LAN connection between the Data Projector and computer .
68 Assigni ng a Name to a Data Pr ojector Y ou can use Web Setup to assi gn a unique name to each Data Projector , which comes in handy when you are using multiple projectors. The projector name you assign is displa yed in the f ollowing locations. • In the “Projector Name” box of t he Wireless “Standing b y for connection.
69 Configuring a Connection Ke ywor d A connection ke yword protects the Data Projector against unauthorized access when there are multiple computers connected over a wireless LAN using a manual connection profile.
70 4 Use [ X X X X ] and [ W W W W ] to select “On” or “Off ”. z Selecting “ On” will req uire connect ion k eywo rd input when ev er a computer tries to connec t to the Data Pr ojecto r . 5 T o exit the Wireless setup menu, press the [ESC] key .
71 Modifying Data Pr ojector Manual Connection Settings The follo wing are e xample cases in which you may w ant to modify Data Projector manual connection settings.
72 Creating a Computer Connection Profile After you modify the settings of the Data Projector’ s m anual setting profi le, you will also need to modify the exi sting wireless LAN connection settings (connect ion profile) of the computer accordingly , or you will ha v e to create a new connection profile .
73 2 Perf o rm the procedure under “T o switch the Data Projector connection profile” (page 66) to switch the Data Projector connection profile to “Manual Connectio n 3”. z This wil l cause the “Sta nding b y f or connect ion... ” screen to ap pear in the p rojection area.

76 Assign a User Name to a Comput er for Proje ction User names make it possible to identif y each computer when multiple computers are connected to the Data Projector at the same time. The user name assigned to a computer will appear in the projection area when the computer’ s screen contents are projected.
77 Manual Connection Setting Reference This section provides detailed e xplanations of all of the man ual connection settings. • See “T o modify Data Projector manual connection settings” (page 71) f or information about how to change Data Projector manual connection settings.

79 WP A/WP A2 Encoding Y ou only need to co nfigure th is setting when “WP A-PSK” or “WP A 2-PSK” is selected for “Secu rity Setup”. TKIP * : Select “ TKIP” as t he encr yption t ype. AES: Select “ AES” as the encr yption type. WEP K ey/ WP A/WP A2 P ass Phrase Use this input box to ente r a WEP key or W P A/WP A2 pa ss phrase.
80 Subnet Mask Configuration of this setting is required when “Off ” is selected for “DHCP”. Enter a subnet mask value, w hich specifi es the ran ge of the IP address of the subne t to which the Data Projector/com puter be longs. The subne t mask consists o f four values in the ran ge of 0 to 255, sep arated by per iods (such as 255.
81 Return ing Data Projector Wireless Settings to Their In itial Defaults Y ou can return all Data Projector Wireless function settings to their initial def aults b y ex ecuting “Initializ e Wireless Setup”. The f ollowing are the Wireless initial def ault settings configured by this operation.

83 Whenev er y ou e xperience problems with the wireless LAN connection between the Data Projector and the computer, check the f o llowing point s first.
84 Y ou cannot estab lish a Manu al Connection betw een the Data Pr ojector and a single comput er or m ultiple comp uters . Except for the IP address setting, all of the settings configured for the Data Projector and the computer(s) must mat ch in order to establish a Manual Connection.
85 When y ou estab lish a wirele ss LAN connec tion between th e Data Pro jector and a comput er , it takes a log of time befor e the contents of the compu ter screen is pr ojected.
86 The wirele ss LAN connection between the Data Pr ojector and c omputer keeps dr opping. This can be caused by the f ollowing. • Data communication can slow do wn and the connection may tend to drop when the Data Projector and comput er are f ar from each other (in diff erent rooms, on diff erent floors, etc.

89 T o pause co mputer scr een contents as the y are being pr ojected On the computer screen, click the button on the Wireless Connection windo w . This will cause the button color to change from b lack to green, and pause the screen contents in the projection area.
90 Note z The mouse cursor displayed using mouse cursor emulation is not the same mouse cursor as display ed on the computer screen. Wireless Connec tion detects the location of the mouse cursor on the computer sc reen and displa ys the mouse cursor emulation in the projection area.
91 Operations while Mult iple Computer s are Connect ed to the Da ta Projector ov er a Wi reless LAN While multiple computers are connected to the Data Projector over a wireless LAN, y ou can check which computer’ s screen contents currently are being projected, and you can switch proj ection between computer screens as required.

93 P erforming a Presenta tion Using the YC- 400 Document Camera This section e xplains how to connect the CASIO YC-400 Multi PJ Camera System (doc ument camera) to the Data Projector in order to project the images of documents placed on the document stage of the document camera.
94 T o connec t the document cam era to the Data Pr ojector and proje ct the image of a docum ent 1 T urn on the Data Projector . z W ait until the Data Projector’ s POWER/ST ANDBY indicator is lit green . 2 Connect the docum ent camera to the Data Projector using the USB cable that comes b undled with the document camera.
95 4 Place the document whose imag e y ou want to project onto the document camera’ s d ocument stage. z Be sure to p lace the d ocument in t he center of the stage , and do not let an y part of the docu ment ex tend of f the edge s of the st age .
