5 Projector Overview This section describes the f eatures of the projec tor, and explains the functions o f the projector and remote controller keys. XJ-A130V/XJ-A135V/XJ-A140 V/XJ-A145V/XJ-A150V/ XJ-.
6 XJ-A135V/XJ-A145V/XJ-A155 V/XJ-A235V/XJ-A245V/ XJ-A255V Projection of Data from U SB Memory or a Memory Card witho ut a Computer: USB memory or a memory card (using a commercia lly available USB card rea der) can be connected directly to the projec tor’s USB port.
7 Operations in this manual ar e presented based on th e re mote controller tha t comes with the proj ector. Major operation ke ys are also provi ded on the projecto r unit, so the most of the sam e procedures can also be perfor med directly on the projector.
8 Projector Keys and Indicators Note Functions of pr ojector keys a nd remote controller ke ys that have the same name are identical. The projector [ ZOOM] key corres ponds to the remote controll er [ZOOM +] and [ZOOM –] keys, while the projector [FOCUS] key corr esponds to the remote contr oller [FOCUS ] a nd [FOCUS ] keys.
9 Operation During Projection This section explains the vario us types of operations you ca n perform while the projector is projecting an image. You can perform th e following opera tions while projecting an image.
10 Selecting the Color Mode You can select from among various dif ferent color mode s ettings in accor dance with image conten ts and projection conditions. Important! The color mode cannot be se lected while “Off” is sel ected for the Eco Mode (p age 15).
11 Momentarily Cutting Off the Input Source Image 1. Press the [BLANK] key. This temporarily cuts off the image fro m the input source and proj ects a black scree n in its place. 2. To resume projection of the image from the input source, press the [BLANK] key (or [ESC] key).
12 Displaying a Pointer in the Projected Image You can select from among different pointer styles, including vario us arrow styles, for dis play in the projected imag e. Pointers can be u sed during a presentati on to indicate or highli ght a specific part o f the image.
13 Changing the aspect rati o of the projected image Press the [ASPE CT] key to cycl e through the aspect ratio se ttings for the projected image. Available s ettings depend on your projector model as shown below. For details about the meaning of each setting, see the “Aspect Ra tio” setting (page 29) on th e “Screen Settings Main Menu”.
14 You can use the remote controller ke ys to adjust the volume level of the a udio that is output from the projector’s speaker. To adjust the volume level 1. Press the [VOLUME] key. This causes the [Vo lume] screen to appear on the projected imag e.
15 The following three E co Mode settings are avail able to specify whether prio rity should be given to low-power, low-noise operation or light so urce unit brightness. Changing the Eco Mode Setting 1. Press the [ECO] key. This displays the Eco Mode selection windo w.
16 Pressing the [FUNC] key displays the menu shown below. You can use this menu to perform the operati ons described below. Adjust image bri ghtness Highlight “Brightness” and then press the [ENTER] key. Turn the Eco Mode on or off Highlight “Eco Mode” and then press the [ENTER] key.
17 Configuring Advanced Projector Settings Your projector has a setup menu that you can use to co nfigure advanced settings. Displaying the Setup Menu Pressing the [MENU] key displays the me nu shown below in the center of the projection scree n. To exit the setup menu Press the [MENU] key.
18 Basic Setup Menu Example The procedure below shows how to c onfigure the followi ng three settings: Image Adjustment 1 Contrast Image Adjustment 1 Color Mode Input Settings Signal Name Indicator Note Certain settings on the setup menu cannot be ch anged while there is no input signal to the projector.
19 To configure the “Image Adjustme nt 1 Color Mode” setting 5. Use the [ ] key to select “Color Mode”. 6. Press the [ENTER] key. This displays the colo r mode menu. 7. Use the [ ] and [ ] keys to select the color mode you want, and then press the [ENTER] key.
20 Direct Power On You can configure the pr ojector so it powers up automatically as soon as you plug it into a power source. With this “Direct Po wer On” feature, you do not even need to press the [ P ] (Power ) key. To enable Direct Power On, display the Setup Menu, an d then change the “Direc t Power On” setting to “On”.
21 The password featur e lets you keep unauthorized individuals from us ing the projector . You can s pecify whether password input is requir ed whenever you turn on the proj ector, and you can specif y and change the password as re quired.
22 Keep a writte n record of your password ! You will not be able to use the proj ector if you forget its password. We strongly sug gest that you keep a written or other type of record of the password so you can look it up when nec essary. To change the password 1.
23 To turn password protection on and of f 1. Display the Powe r On Password settin g screen by performi ng steps 1 throu gh 5 of the procedure under “To chan ge th e password” on page 22. At this time, make sure that “Power On Pass word” is selected on the Po wer On Password setting screen.
24 You can use the procedures in this section to restore all of the settings on a pa rticular main menu or all of the settings on the setup menu to their initial factory defaults . To restore all settings on a particular main menu to their initial factory defaults 1.
25 To restore all settings on the setup menu to their initial factory defaults 1. Press the [MENU] key to display the setup menu. 2. Use the [ ] key to select “Restore All Defaul ts” and then press the [ENTER] key. 3. After confirming that “Restore All Defa ults” sub-menu is selected, press the [ENTER] key.
26 This section contains tables that provide detailed expl anations of all of the items included on the setup menu. The follo wing describes the ty pe of information that appear s in each of the columns of the tables.
27 Color Mode RC VH DW U Source Specific * 1 You can select from among variou s different color mode settings in accordance with imag e contents and projection condit ions. Standard: Use this setting when you want to highlight the colors of your presentatio n.
28 Image Adjustment 2 Main Menu About the “Signal Specific” Setting Unit For the items that have “Sig nal Spec ific ” in the “Setting Unit” column of the above table, the setting is saved for the specific type of sign al (XGA/60Hz, SXGA/60Hz, etc.

36 Cleaning the Projector Periodically clean the projec tor exterior, le ns, intake vents , and exhaust vents on a regular basi s. Important! Before cleaning the projector, be sure to unplug it from the powe r outlet and make sure it is cooled down completely.
37 Error Indicators and Warning Messages Warning messa ges and indicator s let you know what the problem is when a projector error occurs. When an error occurs, wai t until the fan stops before unplugging the AC powe r cord.
38 POWER : Amber flashin g Red steady Power has turned off automat ically due to a fan problem. Confirm that the POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit red (without flashing) and that the fan has stopped.
39 POWER : Amber flashin g Red steady The projecto r was turned of f automatica lly due to som e problem that w as probably caused by external digita l noise or some o ther reason. Co nfirm that the POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit red (without flashing).
40 Appendix Some video devi ces are equipped with a component video output te rminal. You can us e an commercially ava ilable component video cabl e to connect the COMPUTER term inal of the projector to the component video output termi nal of a video devi ce.
41 The projector supports proj ection and output of HDMI video an d audio output from a computer or video device. Important! Turn off the proj ector and the computer or video devi ce before connecting them.
