E-2 Safety Precautions Precautions During Use ● Smoke, odor, heat, and ot her abnormalities Should y ou ever no t ice smoke, strange odor, or any other abno rmality, immediately stop us ing the projector. Continued use creates th e risk of fire and electric shock.
E-3 Safety Precautions English A damaged power cord creates the risk of fire and electric shock. Make sure that you alway s observe the following precautions.
Safety Precautio ns E-4 ● Projector cabinet Never open the pr ojector’s cabinet. Doing so creates the risk of electric shock. ● Cleaning Before cleaning the projector, be sure to turn it off and unplu g it from the power outlet. Failur e to do so creates the risk of electric shock.

Make sure that you always observ e the following precautions. • Do not locate the powe r cord near a stove. • When unplugging the po wer cord, alway s grasp the plug, and do not pu ll on the po wer cord.
Safety Precautio ns E-6 Lens Cover The lens cover of this Data Projector uses a magnetic attachment. Because of th is, it should not be used in the vicinity of anyone wearing a pacemaker or any other electric medical device. Should any problem arise, move the lens cover away from the person experiencing the problem and consult a physician.
E-7 English Operating Precautions The projector’s ligh t source lamp uses a laser and LED. The life of the light source lamp is rated at approximately 20,000 hours. The actual li fe will depend on use conditions, the settings configured on the setup menu, an d differences between each individual lamp.
Operating Precauti ons E-8 ● Never subject the projector to strong impact while it is projecting. If the projector is accidentally sub jected to strong impact, the projection image will moment arily go blank. The image will reappear after some time, but it may be the wron g color or it may be accompanied by an error message.
E-9 English Unpacking As you unpack the projector, check to make sure that all of th e items listed below are present. What you need to do to use the CD-ROM that co mes with the projector depen ds on your projector model.

Replacing Remote Controller Batteries Open the battery cover on the back of the remote controll er, replace the old batteri es with new ones, and then close the battery cover.
E-14 Getting Ready Locate the projector on a desk, table, or stand that is firm and leve l. Make sure to allow sufficient space around the sides and back of the projector for pro per ventilation. The following illu strations show how the projector sh ould be oriented for optimum projection relative to the screen.
E-15 Getting Ready English Note that operating conditions greatly affects the perfo rmance of the projector . Make sure you o nly operate the projector in the ty pe of environment described below. Use a conveniently located power outlet that yo u can reach easily when you need to unplug the projector.
Getting Ready E-16 You can change the el evation angle of the projector in a range of 0 to 20 degrees. You can also make fine adjustments to the left and righ t side elevation angle when necessary. To change the projector elevation angle 1. Lift up the front of the projector and press the release button .
E-17 Getting Ready English You can use the projector to project an image of analog RGB output from a computer. Important! I m po r t a nt ! Important! Always turn off the projector and th e c omputer before connecting them. Take care so the volume level of the compute r is not set too high.
Getting Ready E-18 Before performing any of the operat ions in this section, make sure you firs t set up the projector and connect to an output device. AC Power Cord Precautions Use the AC power cord that comes with the projector. Make sure that you use a power source with the same voltage as that s pecified for the projector.
E-19 Getting Ready English Specifying the Display Message Language A “Language” window will be projected the first time you turn on the projector. Use the men u on this screen to specify the displa y language you want to use. 1. Use the cursor [ ] and [ ] keys to highlight the language you want to use.
Getting Ready E-20 Caution C au t i o n Caution The projector may remain quite hot for a while afte r you turn it off. Take care when moving the projector or otherwise handling it after use. See “Pr ecaution when Handling the Projector af ter Use” (page E-8) fo r more information.
E-21 English Projector Basics Turning on the proj ector initially causes the same in put source that was selected the last time it was turned off to be selected. You can perform the fo llowing steps to select a different input source. 1. Press the [INPUT] key.

Cleaning Intake and Exhaust Vents Dust and dirt tend to collect around the intake vent s. Because of this, you sh ould use a vacuum cleaner to clean away accumulated du st and dirt periodically.
E-25 Troubleshooting English Check the following items w h enever you experience any pr oblem with the projector. Projector Troubleshooting Problem Cause and Recomme nded Action See The projector does not turn on when I press the [ P ] (Power) key. If the POWER/STANDBY indicator is not lit, the AC power cord may not be connected correctly.
Troubleshooting E-26 No sound comes out of the projector after I connect it to another device. The projector’s volume level setting may be too low or muted. ➔ Press the remote controller [VOLUME] key and use [ ] and [ ] to adjust the volume level.
