20 Histogram Fun ction The histogra m is a graph that allows you to jud ge the brightness of the image while shoot ing. In P , Tv , Av and M modes, the g reater the bias toward the lef t in the graph, the darker the imag e. The greater the bia s toward t he right, th e brighte r the image.

45 Using the Mode Dial 3 Shooting P anor amic Images (Stitch Ass i st) Use this mode to shoot a serie s of overlapping fr ames for merging (stitch ing) into a large pan oramic image using a c o mputer . Please us e the bundled PhotoS titch program to merge the image s on a com puter.
46 Framing a Su bject The Phot oS titc h prog ram de tects th e over lapp ing po rtio ns of ad joi ning images and merge s them. 74 Chan ging the I S O Sp eed By rais ing the ISO speed, you can sho ot bright image s even in p oor lighting co nditions. This function is conven ient when you want to preven t camera shake , shoot without the fla sh or shoot with a faster shut ter speed in dark conditio ns.
75 Advanced Shooting Functions 4 Aut o Exposure Brack eting (AEB Mode) The camera automatically t akes three shots: one with st andard exposure and one each with positive and negative compensation. Y ou can adjust AEB settings in 1/3 stops within ±2 EV of the standar d exposure setting.
76 F ocus Brack eting (F ocus-BKT M ode) The camera auto matically takes three sho ts: one at the manual foc us position, and one each wit h focus posi tions preset near er and farther . The nearer and farthe r focus posi tions can be set in three steps : large, medium and small.

83 Advanced Shooting Functions 4 Setting the Auto R otate Function Y our camera is equipped with an Intelligent Orientation sensor that detects the orientation of an image shot with the camer a held vertically and automatically rotates it to the correct viewing orientation in the display .
84 R esetti ng the File Numb er The images you shoot are automatic ally assigned file numbers. Y ou can select how the file nu mber is assigned. * When a b lank me mory card is used.
85 Advanced Shooting Functions 4 Settin g the Fil e Numberi ng to [Contin uous] is useful for avoidi ng fi le name duplica tion when images are downloaded to a computer.
86 Create a sav e destina tion (fol der) Y ou can create fold ers manually or automatically on the memory card used to s ave your pictu res. Y ou can create folders at re gular intervals, making it easy to classify your pictures.
