1 Introduction Thank you for purchasing the Canon imageFORMU LA ScanFront 220/220P network scanner. Please read this manual thoroughly before us ing the scanner to familiariz e yourself with its capabilit ies, and to make the most of its many functions.
2 ❏ Manuals for the Scann er The following manuals are provided with the Canon ScanFront 220/220P. Be sure to read these manuals thoroughly before us ing the scanner. Setup Guide (This Manual) Describes the procedure for setting up the scanner for scanning.
3 Important Safety Instructions To ensure the safe operation of this sc anner, be sure to read the safety wa rnings and precaution s described below. ❏ Installation Location The performance of this scanner is affected by the environment in which it is in stalled.
4 ● Do not pull directly on the power cord. Wh en disconnecting th e power cord, grasp th e plug and remove it from the outlet. ● Keep the area around the powe r plug clear of objects so that the power cord can be disconnected easily in an emergency.
5 ■ If the scanner makes strang e noises, or gives off, smoke, heat, or strange odors, or the scanner does not function or other abno rmalities occur when you use the machine, immediately turn the power OFF, and disconnect the powe r plug from the power outlet.
6 ❏ About the Fingerprin t Sensor (ScanFront 220P only) ● The following actions may damage the sensor or cause it to mal function: – Dropping an object on the fingerpri nt sensor, or otherwise s.
7 ScanFront Setup Overview Follow the procedures below to set up the ScanFront 220/220P. 1. Checking the Supplied Accessories (See p. 8) Confirm that all of the supplied accessories are included. 2. Removing the Packing Materials and Attaching the Feed Roller (See p.
8 1. Checking the Suppl ied Accessories After unpacking the scanner, confir m that the following accessorie s are included. In the unlikely event that any of these acces sories are missing or damaged, contact y our local au thorized Canon dealer.
9 2. Removing the Packing Material s and Attaching the Feed Roller Remove all of the packing mate r ials protecting t he scanner, a nd attach the feed roller. 1. Remove the orange tape (3 pieces) securing the outer case. 2. Gently open the do cument eject tray.
10 5. Open the roller cover for the feed roller. 6. Lift up the roller lock lever a , and slide it in the direction of the arrow b . 7. Align the notch in the shaft of the roller with the shaft of the scanner, and place th e feed roller into position.
11 11. Gently close the panel unit. Press on both sides of the unit until you hear a c lick, wh ich indicates the unit is locked. 12. Gently close the doc ument ej ect tray.
12 3. Installing the Scanner an d Connecting to a Network Before setting up the scanner, you need to move it to the installation site, a nd connect the AC adaptor and network cable. IMPORTANT For inform ation on inst allation s afety, see p. 3. ❏ Interfaces The interfaces are locat ed on th e right side of the scanner.
13 ❏ Connecting the AC Adapter Follow the procedure shown belo w to connect the AC adapter. CAUTION Make sure to us e only the AC ada pter and power cord include d with the sc anner. a Connect the power cord and AC adapter. b Insert the plug of the AC adapter into the power connector.
14 4. Turning the Powe r ON and OFF Use the power switch to turn the scanner ON, and press th e [Power off] button on the to u ch panel to turn it OFF. ❏ Turning the Power ON Press the power swi tch to turn the scanner ON. The power indicator lights, and the Home screen or the login screen appears.
15 5. Configuring the Scanner Settings To set up the scanner, you must configur e the [Network setting] item s under [Administrator setting] on the scanner unit, and configure settings on the We b Menu (Administrator Mo de). This section describes the networ k settings configured under [Administrator se tting] on the scanner (s ee p.
16 ❏ Network Settings Follow the procedure below to confirm and configure the device name and IP address need ed to connect the scanner to a network. IMPORTANT • The devi ce name is th e name used to identify the scanner on the network an d is set to the 14 alphan umeric charac ters of the SF+MAC addr ess by defaul t.
17 4. Confirm the [Device name] and [IP address]. 5. Press [Device name] (or [IP address]). A keyboard entry screen appears. Press [Shift] to switc h, the entry scre en to capital l etters. 6. Enter the new device name (or IP address), and press [OK].
18 ❏ Configuring the Date and Time and Confirming the Time Zone When you finish configuring the network setting s, log in to the Web Menu to set the date and time and confirm the tim e zone. For details on other se ttings, refer to the Operation Guide and ScanFront 220/220P INSTRUCTIONS (electronic manual).
19 6. Click [Device Configuration]. The [Device Configuration] screen appears. 7. Check the [Language/Timezone] setting . Hint To change th e setting, cli ck [Langu age/Timezone ] or [Settin g].
20 ❏ Mail Server Settings To send scanned images via e-mail, open the Server Settings screen from the Web Menu and register a mail server. For details, refer to “Server Settings” on p. 4-27 of the ScanFront 220/220P INSTRUCTIONS (electronic manual).
21 6. Scanning Procedure This section gives an overview of the pr ocedure for sending sca nned images from the Home screen. For more details, refer to the Operation Guide or the ScanFront 220/220P INSTRUCTIONS (electronic manual). 1. Place a document in the scanner.
22 5. Confirm that the selected address has a check mark, and press [Next]. The [Scan / Delivery Options] scre en appears. 6. Confirm the scan setting s, and press [Start]. Scanning starts, and stops wh en the document has been scanned. • Press [Abort] to cancel the sc anned images and return to the Scan/Delivery Options screen.
23 9. Press [Send]. An address confirmation message appears. 10. Confirm the address and press [OK] to send the scanned image. The scanner sends the ima ge file and returns to the Home screen. Hint The screen tha t appears aft er images a re sent can be se lected in the settin gs.
