12 ON/OFF button Press this button to switch the machine on. Pr ess it again to switch the machine off. Before selecting a pr ogr amme or changing a progr amme in progr ess the machine must be switched off. Mains-on light This light comes on when the ON/OFF button is pressed, and goes out when it is pressed again.
Deter gent dispenser dr awer Compartment for prewash. The prewash deter gent is added at the beginning of the wash progr amme. Compartment for powder or liquid detergent used for main wash. It is emptied at the beginning of the wash cycle. Compartment for liquid additives (fabric softener , starch).

W eight of laundry T ypes of fabric and care labels The labels on garments help you to select the most suitable wash pro- gramme. The laundry should be sorted out accor ding to the type of fab- ric and the instructions indicated on care labels. Temper atur es indicated on labels are always maximum temper atur es.
Delicates Microfibr es, easy-car es or curtains marked with these symbols r equir e a very gentle treatment. The DELICATES pr ogr amme is suitable for this type of fabric. Woollens and particularly delicate items Fabrics such as wool, wool mix or silk marked with this symbol are par- ticularly sensitive to machine washing.
Deter gents and additives Which deter gent?.... To ensur e you obtain the best wash r esults from your appliance, it is important to use the right detergent in your everyday wash, and only detergents r ecommended for use in automatic machines.
And in which form? Not only are ther e different types of deter gent, but they are also available in different forms. Whether you chose a powder or liquid in traditional or compact form is to own personal choice. TRADITIONAL POWDERS P our the powder dir ectly into the dispenser drawer .
Pr eparing the drying cycle As a dryer , the machine works on the condensation principle. Therefor e, the water taps must be open and the dr ain hose must drain water into a sink or into the dr ain pipe, even during the dry- ing cycle .
Drying symbols on garment labels Always look at the garment label to check whether garments can be machine dried. The following symbols refer to drying: Machine drying is usually possible Normal drying (normal temperatur e) Gentle drying (reduced temper atur e) Do not machine dry Garments marked with the symbol should not be machine dried.
Additional drying Should the laundry still be too wet at the end of the progr amme, set another short drying cycle. Warning! T o pr event the formation of creases or shrinking of fab- rics, avoid excessive drying.
How to wash Load the laundry Open the door . Place the laundry in the drum, one item at a time. Distribute laundry as evenly as possible. Close the door . Add deter gent and additive Pull the drawer out till it stops. P our the main wash detergent into compart- ment .
23 How to wash Selection of the r equir ed option(s) Depress SPIN REDUCTION and/or QUICK WASH and/or SUPER RINSE button, if requir ed. Starting the progr amme Depress the ON/OFF button: the mains-on light will illuminate and the machine starts operating.
How to dry Drying only Warning! Do not exceed the maximum laundry loads: - 2.5 kg for cottons - 1.75 kg for easy-cares. The water taps must be open and the drain hose must be positioned in the sink or connected to the drain pipe. Select the drying progr amme (for cottons or easy-car es).
Pr ogr amme chart W ash progr ammes for cottons In compliance with EC directive 92/75, the consumption figures indicated on the energy label r efer to the 60°C wash progr amme for fast colour ed cottons. * The progr amme dur ation is intended as a guide only .
Pr ogr amme chart W ash progr ammes for easy-car es , delicates, woollens The water of the last rinse of these progr ammes is not emptied out, to prevent the fabric fr om cr easing. To dr ain the water and spin, select progr amme SHORT SPIN, to dr ain only , select PUMP OUT .

28 Cleaning and maintenance After each wash At the end of the wash progr amme, pull the dispenser drawer out a lit- tle to let it dry . Leave the door ajar to allow air to circulate. If the machine is not used for a prolonged period: Close the water tap and unplug the appliance.
Dr ain filter The drain filter collects threads and small objects inadvertently left in the laundry . Check regularly that the filter is clean. Open the filter door . Place a container under the filter and unscrew it; some water will come out of the filter .
Emer gency emptying out If the water is not discharged (pump is blocked, filter or dr ain hose ar e clogged), proceed as follows to empty out the machine: • pull out the plug from the power socket; .
31 Something not working? If, during the spin cycle, the machine makes an unusual whistling noise, different fr om the noise made by tr adi- tional washing machines, this is due to a new type of motor . If water is not visible in the drum, this is due to the modern technology of new washing machines that use less water than traditional machines.

Installation Unpacking All transit bolts and packing must be r emoved befor e using the appli- ance. Using a spanner , unscrew and remove the rear right-hand bolt and lay the machine on its back, taking care not to squash the hoses. This can be avoided by placing one of the corner packing pieces between the machine and the floor .
44 P ositioning Install the machine on a flat hard floor . Make sure that air cir culation ar ound the machine is not impeded by carpets, rugs etc. • Before placing it on small tiles, apply a rubber coating. • Never try to correct any unevenness in the floor by putting pieces of wood, cardboar d or similar materials under the machine.
Installation should comply with local water authority and building regulations’ r equir ements. The appliance must be given a separate cold water supply and not be connected to a mixer tap, a single outlet water heater or a booster pump. A minimum water pressur e of 0.
