I. OVERVIEW 3 The Canon E OS-1Ds Mark III is a new, top-of-the-line, profe ssional DSLR autofocus camera w ith a 35mm full-fr ame, 21.1-megapix el CMOS sensor. It w as developed in paral lel with the tot ally new E OS-1D Mark III, so the cameras are similar in man y respects.

Due to the lar ge pentaprism, the top c over is a newly designed, dedic ated co ver having a bulg e on the hot shoe area. It is 0.12 in./3mm tal ler than the E OS-1D Mark III and 2mm tall er than the EO S-1Ds Mark II. As with the EO S-1Ds Mark II, the "Ds" and "Mark III" nameplat es are go ld-plated.
