6 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION The ov en timer offers y ou the follo wing features: 1. Time of Day 2. Automa tic Cooking 3. Minute M inder A UT OMA TIC COOKING The main ov en can be contr olled automatically . GUIDANCE ON A UT OMA TIC COOKING 1. Select foods which will take the same time to cook.
7 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION CL OCKF A CE The timer incorporat es a 24 hour clock. Ensure the corr ect time of day is alwa ys set, befor e using your cooker . SYMBOLS A ‘bell’ symbol will light up when you select a Minute Minder Period and will remain lit for the period set.
8 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION SET TING THE TIME OF DA Y Step 1 Make sure all oven contr ols are turned Off. Step 2 Check the electricity supply to the cooker is turned on. Step 3 When switched on the display will sho w 0.00 and the Auto symbol , flashing intermittently .
9 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION Step 3 Press and hold in the C ook P eriod button. The display will r ead 0.00 with the ‘ cook pot’ symbol lit. Step 4 With the Cook P eriod button still held in, set the required C oo k P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
10 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION Step 4 Press & hold in the C ook P eriod button, the display will read 0.00 and the ‘ cookpot ’ symbol will light up . With the Cook P eriod button still held in set the required C ook P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
11 O VEN TIMER OPERA TION O THER NO TES ON TIMER OPERA TION 1. When cooking Automatically the C ook Period can be checked at an y time simply by pressing the C ook P eriod button. 2. When cooking Automatically the End Time can be checked at any t ime b y simply pressing the End Time button.
The hotplate lid is fitt ed with a safety device which cuts off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open. Do not use the s afety device as a means of controlling the hotpla te burners.
13 SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FRYING 1. Never fill chip pans more than one third full with oil or fat . 2. Never leav e oil or fat unattended during the heating or cooli ng period . 3. Never heat fat or fr y with a lid on the pan. 4. Always dry food thoroughly befor e fr ying , and low er it slowly into the hot oil or fat.
14 GRILL T O USE THE GRILL 1. Open the grill/top ov en door and place the shelf in the requi red position. 2. T urn the grill control k nob clockwise to 4 (or Max ) for full width grilling or anticlockwise for the half grill. 3. Slide the grill pan towar d the back of the grill compar tment until it st ops.
15 O VENS Both ovens ha ve a thermostat light tha t will illuminate until the o ven has reached the s et temperatur e. It will then switch off and on during cooking as the thermostat maintains th e temperatur e. Each shelf has a safety stop to pr event it from being pulled ou t t oo far when attending to food .
16 O VEN C OOKING CHART S Note: If soft margarine is used for cake making, temperatures r ecommended by the manufacturers should be follow ed. 17 O VEN C OOKING CHART S Beef/ Lamb (slow roasting) Meat 170/180 35 mins per 450g (1lb) + 35 mins over . Runner 1 from bottom of oven. 35-40 mins per 450g (1lb) 40 mins per 450g (1lb) + 40 mins over .
The ‘S ’ setting on the main oven thermostat is used f or slow co oking , keeping food warm and warming plates f or shor t periods. USING THE ‘S ’ SET TING FOR SL OW C OOKING 1. All dishes cooked by the ‘S ’ setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours.
Swit ch off the electricit y supply and allo w to cool befor e cleaning the cook er . Clean the cook er regularly and wipe up spills soon after they occur to pre v ent them from becoming burn t on.
20 CARE AND CLEANING C OOKER FINISH CLEANING METHOD Vitreous Enamel Hotplate , pan suppor ts , burner caps, roasting dish, grill pan, main oven base , inside of grill compar tment Cloth wrung out in warm soapy wat er . Stubborn stains can be remov ed with a cream paste , liquid cleaner or by rubbing with fine steel w ool soap pads.
21 SOMETHING WRONG WITH Y OUR C OOKER PROBLEM Before c ontacting your Ser vice C entr e or Installer , check the problem guide below , there ma y be nothing wrong with y our cook er .
Cannot set an “ Auto Cook” programme or cannot get the timer to turn the ov en on or off at the required times . Read the Timer instructions in this book carefully remembering that the Cook period is the length of time that the timer will switch the ov en(s) on as part of an Auto Cooking Progr amme.
Prior to installa tion, ensure that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment c onditions are compatible . The adjustment conditions for this applianc e are stated on the da ta badge which is fitted on the back panel.

C ONNECTING T O GAS SUPPL Y Connection to the cooker should be made with an appro ved appliance flexible connection to BS 669. A length of 0.9 to 1.25m is recommended . T he length of hose chosen should be such that when the cooker is in situ, the hose does not t ouch the floor .
28 ELECTRICAL C ONNECTION W arning - THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The cooker must be connected by a qualified electrician to a suitable double - pole control unit with a minimum r ating of 32A and a minimum contact clearance of 3mm, which should be fitted adjacent t o (but not above) the c ooker , in accordance with IEE regulations.
INST ALL A TION AND OPERA TIONAL CHECKS After installation, check for gas soundness . The supply pressur e can be checked at one of the hotplate burner injectors. Check that the hotplate burners ignite c orrectly and burn with a steady flame. Check for a steady flame a t the low setting .
