6 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION The ov en timer offers you the follo wing featur es: 1. Time of Day 2. Automa tic Cooking 3. Minute M inder A UT OMA TIC C OOKING The main ov en can be controlled automatically . GUIDANCE ON A UT OMA TIC C OOKING 1. Select foods which will take the same time to cook.
7 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION CL OCKF ACE The timer incorporat es a 24 hour clock. Ensure the corr ect time of day is alwa ys set, befor e using your cooker . SYMBOLS A ‘bell’ symbol will light up when you select a Minute Minder Period and will remain lit for the period set.
8 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION SET TING THE TIME OF DA Y Step 1 Make sure all oven contr ols are turned Off. Step 2 Check the electricity supply to the cooker is turned on. Step 3 When switched on the display will sho w 0.00 and the Auto symbol , flashing intermittently .
9 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION Step 3 Press and hold in the C ook Period button. The display will r ead 0.00 with the ‘ cookpot ’ symbol lit. Step 4 With the Cook P eriod button still held in, set the required Coo k P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
10 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION Step 4 Press & hold in the C ook Period button, the display will read 0.00 and the ‘ cook pot’ symbol will light up. With the Cook P eriod button still held in set the required Cook P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
11 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION O THER NOTES ON TIMER OPERA TION 1. When cooking Automatically the C ook Period can be checked at an y time simply by pressing the C ook P eriod button. 2. When cooking Automatically the End Time can be checked at any t ime b y simply pressing the End Time button.
The hotplate lid is fitt ed with a safety device which cuts off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open. Do not use the s afety device as a means of controlling the hotpla te burners.
13 SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FRYING 1. Never fill chip pans more than one third full with oil or fat . 2. Never leav e oil or fat unattended during the heating or cooli ng period . 3. Never heat fat or fr y with a lid on the pan. 4. Always dry food thoroughly befor e fr ying , and lower it slowly into the hot oil or fat.
14 T O USE THE GRILL 1. Check that the electricit y supply is swit ched on. 2. Open the top ov en/gr ill door and remo ve the grill pan. 3. Remove the hea t shield from the rear of the shelf f or maximum grilling area. 4. Place shelf in chosen position.
The f ollowing char t is a guide . Grilling can be star ted from c o ld but for best results preheat f or approxima tely two minutes . Most cooking is done wit h the heat on full, but it may be desirable t o reduce it f or thicker pieces of meat or for keeping food warm.
The ov en has different heat zones – the thermostat settings r ef er to the t emperature on the middle shelf position; abov e this shelf it is hotter and below it is cooler . T wo shelves pro vide five possible cook ing lev els enabling full use of the differen t temperatur es inside the oven.
C OLD ST ART C OOKING Anything r equiring long slow cooking such as casseroles and ric h fruit cakes can be put into a cold o ven. Satisfactor y results can also be obtained with cr eamed mixture, ric.
The follo wing times and setting are for guidance only . Y ou may wish to alter the setting to giv e a result more to y our satisfaction. When a different setting t o t hat shown below is giv en in a recipe, the recipe instructions should be followed .

The ‘Slow C ook ’ setting on the main oven thermostat is used f or slow cooking , keeping food warm and warming plat es for short periods. USING THE ‘SL OW C OOK’ SET TING FOR SL OW C OOKING 1. All dishes cooked by the ‘Slow C ook ’ setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours.
The top o ven can be used to c ook small quantities of food or us ed in conjunction with the main ov en to provide additional c ook ing spac e. The shelf in the top o ven has a heat shield fitted a t the rear . The shield can be remov ed for cleaning and grilling , but must be replaced when using the oven.

C ONNECTING TO GAS SUPPL Y The cooker is designed to mat ch the depth of standard 600mm wor ktops . An adaptor backplate should, ther efore , be fitted within the shaded area shown to allo w the cooker to be pushed fully to the wall. Connection to the cooker should be made with an approv ed appliance flexible connection to BS 669.
Connection to the electricity supply should be made via a proper ly earthed, r eadily accessible wall socket which is adjacent to but not directly abov e, and not more than 1.25m a way from the appliance and capable of electrical isolation. The mains lead should be routed such tha t it cannot touch hot par ts of the cooker i.
