INTRODUCTION 5 Safety Precautions Do not use a damaged or leaking battery as the fluid may get on your hands. Do not use a deformed or leaking battery or one whose label is damaged. There is a possibility of generating heat. Do not touch metal parts around the print head immediately after printing.

GETTING STARTED 8 LCD Display & Keyboard NOTE • When the ca ps mode is on, all characters you type will be in uppercase letters. • Use ( ) in combination with the letter and number keys to type uppercase letters or the symbols indicat ed on the upper-right corner of the keys.

15 Setti ng Input M ode GETTING STAR TED Setting Input Mode The default setting is [Label View]. Label View Mode The character attributes and frames, et c. that you set are reflected on the LCD screen while creating a label. Th is enables you to easily check what the label will look like.

19 Setting Character Attribute s ([Font]/[Size]/[Width]/[St yle]/[Line]/[Align ]) EDITING A LABEL Setting Charact er Attributes ([Font] /[Size]/[Width]/ [Style]/[Line]/[Align]) You can set character at tributes by label or by each line both before and after entering text .
EDITING A LABEL 20 Setting Character Attribut es ([Font]/[Size]/[Width]/[S tyle]/[Line]/[Align]) • The 6 point font only prints in Helsinki, no other font type. • When [Size] is set to [Auto] and all the te xt is entered in uppercase, the text is automatically adjusted to print in t he largest font size possible for each tape width.
21 Setting Frames EDITING A LABEL Setting Auto Fit Style When [Size] is set to [Auto] and [Lengt h] is set to a specific length, you can reduce the text size to fit within the label length. When [Text Size] is selected, the total text size is modifi ed to fit within the label.

EDITING A LABEL 24 Setting Label Attr ibutes ([Length]/[Cut Option]/[Tab Lengt h]) Setting Label At tributes ([Length]/[ Cut Option]/ [Tab Length]) Length : [Length ] can be set within the range 1.2" (30 mm) - 12.0" (300 mm). When [Auto] is selected, the length of the label is automatica lly adjusted based on the amount of text entered.

Press ( ) or any other key to clear the error message, and insert a tape cassette of the cor rect width.

Mirror Print ing Use clear tape in [Mirror], so the labels can be read correctly from the opposite side when attached on glass, windows or other transparent surfaces.
43 Setting Tape Cuttin g Options LABEL PRINTING Chain • Automatically cuts a piece of blank tape before printin g the first label and then cuts the tape aft er each label is printed, leaving a 0.08" (2 mm) margin at both ends of each label. • Once the last label is printed, the tape is not fed and cut.
LABEL PRINTING 44 Adjusting the Labe l Length Adjusting the Label Leng th When the tape cassette comes to the e nd, the printed length may be less accurat e. In this case, you can adjust the label len gth. NOTE Approximately 1 % of the total label length will be adjusted by 1 level.

46 Saving Label Files USING THE FILE MEMORY Saving Label Files You can save up to 99 labels and recall them for printing at a later date. A maximum of 280 characters can be saved per file.

RESETTING & MAINTAININ G YOUR P-TOUCH LABELER 50 Maintenance Cleaning the Print Head Streaks or poor quality characters on printed labels generally indicates that the print head is dirty. Clean the print head using a cotton swab or the optional print head cleaning cassette (TZe-C L4).
