Loading pa per 13 2 Load ing enve lope s 2 Abou t en velop es 2 Use envelo pes that weigh from 20 to 25 lb (80 to 95 g/m 2 ). Some envelopes need margin setting s to be set in the applicat ion. Make sure you do a test print f irst befor e printing man y envel opes.

I f the envelope f laps are on the long edge, load t he envelop es with the flap on th e left, as sho wn in the illu stra tio n. 54 A Replacing the ink cartridge s A Your mac hine is equipped with an ink dot cou nt er. The ink dot count er monitors t he lev el of ink in each of the four ca rtridg es. When t he machine detects an i nk cartr idge is run ning out of ink, t he machine will dis pl ay a message.
Routine maintenan ce 55 A b P ress the lock release lever as shown to relea s e t he cartridg e color indic at ed on the LC D. Remove t he cartrid ge from t he machine. c Op en the new ink cartridg e bag for the color indi cated on the LCD, and then take ou t the ink cartridge.

64 Cannot Detect You instal led a new ink cartridge t oo quickly and t he mac hine did not detect it. Take ou t the new i nk cartridge and re-install it slowly and fir mly un til it latches . (See Repla cing the in k cartridges on page 5 4.) An ink cartridge i s not insta lled cor r ectl y.

66 Ink low One o r more of the ink c artridges ar e near th e end of t heir life. If one of the color ink cartridges is near the end of its life and someon e is sendi ng you a color fa x, your machi ne’s “handshak e” wi ll ask that the fax be sent as blac k & whi te.
Troubleshooti ng 67 B No Paper Fed The mac hine is out of paper or paper is not co rrectly loaded i n the paper tray. Do one o f the fol lowing: Refill t he paper in the p aper tray, and then pr ess Black St art or Color S tar t . Rem ove and relo ad the p aper, then press Blac k Start or Color S tar t .
68 Out of Memory The machi ne's me mory is full. If a fax- sendin g or copy o pera tion is in pro cess: Press Stop/Exit and w ait un til t he other ope rations i n process fi nish, and then tr y agai n. Press B lack St art or Col or S ta rt to choose Send Now to s end the pages sc anne d so far.
Troubleshooti ng 69 B Paper Jam [Rear] Th e paper i s jammed i n the mach ine. Remove the jam med paper b y followi ng the s teps in Print er jam or paper jam on page 74. M ake sure the paper le ngth guide is set to the cor rect paper size. DO NOT exten d the pa per tray whe n you l oad A5 or smaller si ze paper .
