5 SETTING U P THE PR OJECTOR 1 Place the pr ojector on a flat surface. • The pr ojector must be wi thin 10 feet (3 m) of your power source an d within 8 feet (2.4 m) of your computer . NO TE : An optional extension cable, sold separa tely, lets you increase the distance betw een the pro jector and your computer to 68 feet (21 m).

13 Connec ting a Video Pla y er 1 If your video player uses a round, one-pr ong composite video connector, you’ll need only the A/V cable that shipped with the proje ctor. • If your video player uses a round, four -prong S-video c on- nector , you’ll need an S-video cable in addition to the A/V cable.

17 USIN G TH E PROJEC TOR This section describes how to use an d make adjustments to the proj ector . It also provides a refer ence to the keypad and remote buttons and the opti ons available from the on-screen menus. Basic Ima ge Adju stment 1 Make sur e you have power ed up your equipment in the right orde r (page 15).

19 Adjusting the P rojector T o focus the image, rotate the focus ring (Figure 15) until the image is clear . T o zoom the image, r otate the zoom ring.
20 Using the Pro jector T o raise the pr ojector: 1 Press and h old the elevator button (Figure 15). 2 Raise the pr ojector to the height you want, th en release the button to lock the elevator foo t into positio n. 3 If necessary , use the leveling knob (Figure 16) to adjust the angle of the pr ojected image.

Compute r When you have mor e than one sour ce (computer and video) con- nected to the pr ojector , select between them by pr essing the but- ton for the source you want.
23 Po w e r The Power button tu rns th e projector on and off. When you plug the pro jector in, the fan r uns on low speed and the Pow er LED lights after the pr ojector has initialized. When the Power LED is lit, you can press the Power button to turn th e lamp on.
24 Using the Pro jector Using the On-Scr een Menus The projector has six drop-d ow n menus th at all ow you to ma ke image ad justments an d change a variety of settings. Mo st of these adjustments aren’t available dir ectly from the keypad or re mote.

26 Using the Pro jector Color The color setting adjusts a video ima ge from black and white to fully saturated color . • Press the left m ouse but ton to decrease the amoun t of color in the image. • Press the right mouse button to increase the am ount of co lor in the image.

28 Using the Pro jector Balance The balance setting contr ols the balance between the left and right external speakers. It appears gray and w on’t highlight if you haven’t con nected external speakers. Balan ce applies to al l sources you ha ve connected.

34 Using the Pro jector Lamp hour s used Indicates how many hours the curr ent lamp has been in use. The counter starts at zero hours and counts each hour the lamp is in use. When the counter reaches 3000 h ours, the la mp monito r light turns on. For optimum r esults, the lamp should be r eplaced at this time.

37 Repla cing the Pr ojection Lam p W ARNIN G: T o avoid burns , allow the pr ojector to cool f or at least 30 minutes before you open the lamp module door . Never extract the lamp module while the lamp is oper ating. The lamp hour counter on the status bar at the top of the menus counts the number of hours the lamp has been in use.
38 Mainte nance & T roubles hooting CA U TIO N: Never op erate the pr ojecto r with the lamp c o ver open or remove d. This dis rupts the air flow and causes the pr ojector to overheat. 5 Loosen the two non-rem ovable screws on the outside of the module (Figure 30).
39 Replacing the Batteries in the Remote Contr ol The life of the batteries depends o n how often and how long you use the rem ote. Symptoms of low battery cha rge include erratic respon ses when using the remote a nd a reduced ran ge of opera- tion. Follow these steps to r eplace the batteries: 1 T u rn the r emote face down in your hand.

41 Solut ions to Commo n P rob lems Problem: Not hing on projectio n screen • Make sure that the power cord is properly connected to a func- tional AC electrical outlet. Make sur e that the power cor d is also pro perly connected to the proj ector .

Check to see that the CablePro computer cable is corr ectly connected to the mon- itor connector on the co mputer (this is the connector where your monitor cable usually goes.
43 Problem: Image i s too wide or narrow for sc reen • Y ou might need to manually adjust the tracking to red uce or enlar ge the proj ected image. Refer to “Manual T racking” on page 30. • Adjust the r esolution of your monitor if it’s gr eater than 1280x102 4.
