2 Unpacking Y our Bogen equipment was car efully check ed befor e lea ving the factor y; inspect the shipping container and unit closely for impr oper handling. If the unit has been damaged, mak e an immediate claim to the distributor fr om whom it was pur chased.
3 Intr oduction Description Bogen Models PI35A and SI35A ar e 25-station intercom systems (SI35A is expandable to 75 stations). They can pro vide facilities with two-wa y communication, emergency paging, time tones and backgr ound m usic or other audio pr ogram material to speak er -equipped locations.

CONSOLE MIC - Used as micr ophone 1 or in conjunction with the emergency page or pr ess-to-talk/r elease-to- listen (intercom) push-buttons. This mic is alwa ys used for tw o-wa y intercom calls, using the gr een button, and emergency paging using the red button.
5 MCP35A Rear Contr ol P anel 1 . MIC 1 - Connections f or an external mic (MIC 1 ). When the PR OGRAM DISTRIBUTION button MIC 1 is pr essed, the microphone connected her e becomes activ e. As shipped from the factor y , a link is installed betw een the HI and CONS MIC terminals.

7 Basic System Operation Communicating With a Selected Speak er Use the following steps to talk and listen to a r oom that has its s witch set to the “C” (down) position. 1 . Place the switch of the r oom that you wish to talk and listen to in the “C” (do wn) position.
8 Basic System Hook-Up 4-Wir e Speak er Connections to the SBA225 4-wire speak er connections (3-conductor + shield) is r ecommended f or all ne w installations. The figur e below shows the connection to the back of the SB A225 when using a 4-wir e system.
9 Call-In Switches T w o call-in s witches, C A 1 0A and C A 1 1 A, ar e r ecommended for use with the SI and PI. The C A 1 0A is a momentary push s witch that has cir cuitr y to light the ann unciator light on the SB A225 r oom selector panel.
10 Speak ers and Speak er Wiring The MCP35A contr ol panel of the SI and PI pr oducts is designed to use 25-volt distributed speak ers. These speak ers ha ve line-matching transformers with various po w er le v el taps. 8-ohm speak ers or speak ers without line-matching transf ormers cannot be used with the SI and PI pr oducts.
1 1 Advanced Hook-Ups External Emerg ency Mic It is possible to use a microphone (Model MBS 1 000A) with a contact closur e to mak e an emergency announcement. The TELCO terminal on the back of the MCP35A contr ol panel can be used to remotel y trigger an emergency page on the system.
12 The Bogen model T AMB telephone interface module can be used to mak e a r emote page thr ough the telephone system. Note: J umper J3 on the MCP35A printed cir cuit boar d must be set to the TELCO position. See the Special Adjustments section for jumper information.
13 External Booster Amp An external booster amplifier (Bogen Model BP A60) can be connected when the application r equir es more than 35 watts. Using an external amplifier disconnects the internal 35W amp of the MCP35A.
TWK35 1 Wir e Con v er ter The model TWK35 1 is an ada pter used in instances wher e ther e is existing 3-wir e (2-conductor + shield) r oom wiring. The TWK35 1 cannot be used with the SCR25A module .
SCR25A Call-In Module The SCR25A module can be added to allo w the ann unciator indicators to light from a simple SPST call-in s witch (Bogen model C A 1 7).
SI35A Model Option Enhancements The SI35A has pr o visions to ad d up to 2 additional SB A225 s witchbanks. Simply remo v e the blank panels and r eplace with a switchbank.
Special Adjustments Gain Adjustments Screwdriv er -adjustable INPUT GAIN contr ols are located on the r ear panel f or MIC 1 , MIC 2, AUX, TEL P A GE, T ALK and LISTEN. Set the contr ols so that signal clipping cannot occur . Pr oceed as follows: 1 . Apply input(s) to the desir ed channel(s).
Internal Jumper Selections Internal jumpers are pr o vided f or phantom po w er (Mic 1 /Mic2), T elco Page/Mic 2 input selection, monitor speak er muting, and privacy tone defeat. W arning: High v oltages ar e pr esent within the MCP35A. The unit should not be operated without co v ers in place .
T r oub leshooting Guide MCP35A T r oub leshooting Pr ocedure If a problem exists on the MCP35A, certain steps should be tak en to find the pr oblem. This test r elates to the Pr ogram Amplifier (All-Call or Emergency). The first indication of a pr oblem will a ppear on the thr ee le v el indicators at the fr ont of the unit.
