The va lid range for the VPI is 0 to 255 and for the VCI is 32 to 65535 (0 to 31 is reserved for local managem ent of ATM traffic).

The protocol-dependent configurations are covered in subsequent chapters. A remote node is re quired for pl acing calls t o a remote gat eway.
