13 Knowing the Key s Key Function Power Key Press and h old to pow er on/ off or restart your phone, or turn on /off silent, vibration, or flight mode. Press to sw itch your phone to sleep mode. Press to w ake up you r phone. V olume Keys Press or hold to turn the volume up o r dow n.
14 Key Function Camera Key Press fully to start the cam era. When the camera is started, press to t ake a photo. Back Key Touch to go to the pre vious screen. Home Key Touch to ret urn to the Home Screen fro m any appli cation or screen.
15 Hold the S IM card w ith the cut corne r oriented as shown and slip it into the card h older. To instal l a microSD card: Open the m icroSD ca rd holder, hold your micro SD card w ith the metal contacts facing dow n and slide it in , and then close the card hold er.
16 NOTE: Th e micro SD card i s sold separat ely . To Insert the Batte ry: Insert the b attery by a ligning the metal conta cts on the battery w ith the metal contac ts in the battery compartme nt. Ge ntly push dow n on the ba ttery u ntil it clicks into place.
17 NOTE: Although the battery co mes parti ally charged , it is re commended you fully ch arge the battery before using your d evice for the first time. 1. Conne ct the ada pter to t he charge r jack. Ens ure that the adap ter is ins erted w ith the corre ct orientation .
18 Bluetooth , Wi - Fi u sage and GP S functionali ty can drain your battery . You can follow the helpful tips below to conserve your battery pow e r: Reduce the screen bac klight ti me. Lower the screen brigh tness. Turn Blue tooth off w hen not in use.
19 press the Power Key . NOTE: To save ba ttery pow er, the phone automatically turns off the scre en after a certain period of ti me w hen you lea ve it idle. Sele ct a w allpaper source from Gallery , L ive Wallpaper s , or Wallpape rs and choose the image or ani mation you w ant to use as the wallpaper.

26 Protecting Y o ur P hone with Encryption You can enc rypt all the data on your phone : Google Accounts , application data, mus ic and other media, downloaded informa tion, and so on. If you do, you must en ter a nu meric P IN or p assw ord each time you power on your phone.

28 Knowing the Basic s Monitoring the Phone S t atus The s tatus bar at the top of the home screen pro vides phone and service status infor mation on the right side.
29 Managing Notificati ons Notification Icons The s tatus bar at the top of the home screen pro vides notification alerts on the left. You can view the following no tification i cons.
30 Open/Close the Notificati on Panel Notification s report the arrival of new message s, calendar e vents, and alarms, a s w ell as ongoing events, su ch as w hen you are playin g musi c. You can open th e notifica tion panel to view the detail s of notification s.

76 Adding a Signature to Y our Emails Y ou can set a few lines of plain text as signa ture for every outgoing e mail message fro m an a ccount, such as your na me and co ntac t informatio n. 1.
