6 .2 < Copy ing> Reduced or enlarged copy By using the Reduce/Enlar ge button, you can reduce or en large the size of a copied im age from 25% to 40 0% when yo u copy origi nal document s from the sca nner glass, o r from 25% to 100% fro m the ADF .
6 .3 < Copy ing> ID card copying Y our mac hine can print 2-si ded origi nals on o ne sheet of A4-, Letter -, Legal-, Foli o-, Executive- , B5-, A5-, or A6-s ized pap er .
6 .4 < Copy ing> Clone copying Erasing background image s Y ou can se t the machin e to print an image without it s back ground. Th is copy feature rem oves the backgrou nd color and can be help ful when copying an origina l contai ning colo r in the ba ckground , such as a newspa per or a catalog.

9 .4 < Faxing> 7 Press Stop/ Clear to re turn to S tandby mod e. Receiving autom atically in Fax mode Y our machine is preset to Fax mode at th e factory . When you rece ive a fax, the m achine ans wers the call on a specifi ed number of rings and automatic ally receiv es the fax.
9 .5 < Faxing> 5 Call your fax numb er from another telephone . It is not necessary to place th e call from a fax machin e. 6 When you r machin e begins to ri ng, do not answer the call. The mac hine r equir es sev era l rin gs to l earn t he patt ern.

14 .15 < Troubleshoot ing> Hori zontal st rip es If horizo nta lly aligned black s treaks or smears appear: • The print c artridge ma y be ins talled improperly . Remove the c artridge and reinsert it. • The print c artridge may be defect ive.
14 .16 < Troubleshoot ing> Scanning problems Condition Su ggested solutions The s canne r does not work. • Make sure th at you pl ace the o riginal to be scanned face down on the sc anner glas s, or face up in th e ADF . • There may not be en ough availa ble memo ry to hold th e docume nt you want to scan.
14 .17 < Troubleshoot ing> Faxes are not received automatic ally . • The recei ving mode s hould be se t to Fax . • Make sure th at there is pape r in the tray . • Check to s ee if the display sh ows any er ror messag e. If it doe s, clear t he problem.

14 .20 < Troubleshoot ing> Common Macintosh problems I encounte r error “Cannot open port device file ” when printing a document. Please avoid ch anging pr int job para meters (via L PR GUI, for exam ple) while a print job i s in progr ess.

Make su re the latc hes fit o ver the no tches locat ed on eith er side of the DIMM. 7 Replace th e control bo ard cover . 8 Reconnec t the power c ord and printe r cable, a nd turn the ma chine on.
