It will also direct yo u in setting up client workstations t o print w ith the CXP6000 Color Server, printing test files, and administrating your CXP6000 Color Server syste m.

2 Chapter 1 – Setting Up Client Workstations Default Network Printers on PC and Macintosh Clients For M acintosh and PC networks, the CXP6000 Color Server pro vides three default network printers, known as vir tual printers.

46 Chapter 1 – Setting Up Client Workstations Defining a Printer on Macintosh Client W orkstations The CXP6000 Color Server can print to M acintosh client workstations running Macintosh OS 9 and OSX (10. 2). Y ou can also submit jobs using the CXP6000 C olor Ser ver virtual printers ov er a T CP/IP prot ocol.

Defining a Printer on Macintosh Client Workstations 49 Setting the Network Printer for Macintosh OS X (10.2) T o set up a CXP6000 Color Server n etwork printer on Macintosh OS X: 1. From th e Go menu, select Applications . 2. Open the Utilities folder .

Tip: It is recommended that you copy the PPD by dragging and dr opping from th e CXP6000 Color Server to the Library>Printers>PPDs folder on your Macintosh.

Fol l ow th e pro ce d ur e “ T o set up a CXP6000 Color Server network printer on Macintosh OS X” on page 49, until step 5. 2. In the P rinter List window , select LPR Printers using IP as the connection typ e.

78 Chapter 1 – Setting Up Client Workstations Spire Over TCP/IP The Spire Ov er T CP/IP application enables Macint osh clients to subm it jobs using the CXP6000 Color Server vir tual printers ov er a T CP/IP prot ocol. This co nnection enables a significantly higher spooling speed.

92 Chapter 2 – Reinstalling Your CXP6000 Color Server Overview This chapt er describes the two methods of r einstalling y our CXP6000 Color Server software by complete ov erw rite or by system part ition.
Overview 93 The following table outlines the CXP6000 Color Se r ver disk c onfiguration: There ar e two methods of reinstalling the syst em: • Creo So ftware Complete Overwrite Installation : This procedur e replaces the entir e system disk, operating system partition, Creo application, and user partition (partitions C: and D:).
94 Chapter 2 – Reinstalling Your CXP6000 Color Server Reinstalling the Operating System Be fore rei ns ta l li ng , en su re t ha t: • all external SCSI devices are disc onnected from the CXP6000 C olor Server.
Reinstalling the Operating System 95 6. U se the arro ws to select Creo Softwar e Complete Overwrite Installation and press ENTE R . The system starts copying the files. After a f ew m inutes, you are prom pted to remove th e CD -ROM from the CD/DVD- ROM driv e and reboot.
96 Chapter 2 – Reinstalling Your CXP6000 Color Server Reinstalling the Creo Application Software T o reinst all the Creo appl ication softwar e: 1. Select the correct CD-R OM #2 for your printer ty pe. 2. Insert the CD-ROM int o the CD/DVD-R OM drive and close the CD/DVD-R OM drive.
