13 2. Using the Document Server Accessing the Document Server The Docume nt Server enab les you to store documents on the mach ine's hard disk, allowing you to edit and print as and when yo u want. Limita tion ❒ Applications with th eir own drivers, such as PageMaker, do no t support th is functi on.
Using the Document Server 14 2 ❒ The Document Server also stores files sc anned using the Automati c Docu- ment Feeder (ADF) or ex posure gl ass. You should delete unnec essary st ored files once in a while so as not to exceed th e capacity of the hard disk.
15 3. Sample Print/Locked Print Sample Print Use this func tion to print only the first set of a multiple-set print job. Afte r you have chec ked the result, remain- ing sets can be printed or canceled us- ing the machine's control panel. Th is can redu ce m ispr int s due to m istak es in conten t or settings .

Sample Print/Locked Print 18 3 Locked Pr int Use this function to maintain privacy when printing confidential docu- ments o n the mach ine ov er a sha red network. Usually, it is possible to print data using the display panel once it is stored in this machine.

Form Feed 21 3 Form Feed This section gives instructions for op- erating the machin e when there is no tray for the selected paper size or type, or when paper loaded in the machine has run out.

23 4. Troubleshooting Error & Status Messages on the Display Panel This section d escribes the princ ipal messages that appear on the panel display. If a message not described here appears, act according to the message. Reference Before turning the main power off, see ‘ Turning On th e Power ’ , Gen eral Set- ting s Guide.
Troubleshooting 24 4 DIMM has a problem. An error has occu rred in the DIMM inside the m achine. Contact your sa les or s ervice representative. Driver setting error. (Memo- ry) There is an error in the down- load ed fo nt(s ). Reset t he paramete r for down- loading fonts.
Error & Status Messages on the Display Panel 25 4 Exceeded max. pages. Collate is incomplete. The maximum number of pag- es has been exceeded for colla- tion. Turn off the ma in power switch, and back on again. Re- duce the num ber of pages to be printe d.
Troubleshooting 26 4 NV-RAM has a problem. An error has occu rred in the optional memory unit. Turn off the ma in power switc h, and b ack on agai n. I f the me ssag e app ears again , call your sales or s ervice repre- sentat ive . Output tray has been changed.
Error & Status Messages on the Display Panel 27 4 RPCS syntax error. Bidirectional tr ansmission may not be working p roperly, or the RPCS ™ printer driver settings may not be correct. Confirm the option set tings for the printer driver match the options installed on the mach ine .
Troubleshooting 28 4 The Machine Do es Not Print Possible Ca use Solutions Is the power on? Check the cable is securely plugged into the power outlet and the machine. Turn on the main power switch. Is the machine online? If not, press [ f f f f Online ] on the display panel.
The Machine Does Not Print 29 4 When using wireless LAN, is the access point correctly set? Check access point settings when in infrastr ucture mode. Depend- ing on the access point, client access may be limited by M AC ad- dress.
Troubleshooting 30 4 Problem Soluti ons Is the Data In indicator blinking or lit after starting the p rin t jo b? If not, data is not being sent t o the machine. ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ When the machine is c onnected to the comput er using the interf ace cable Check the machine port set tings are correct.
Other Printing Problems 31 4 Other Printing Problems Problem Causes and Sol utions The print on the entire pa ge is fad- ed. If [ T oner Sav ing ] is selected on the [ Print Quality ] tab in the printer driver, the entire page will be faded when printed.
