BENQ Corporation 7 Chapter 3. Configuration This chapter illustrates the web-based AW L700 configuration in detail. The AWL700 Wire less LAN Route r has a struc ture d menu a n d a “Quick Installation Wizard” page to help users set up their ow n AWL700 quickly.
BENQ Corporation 8 3.1 Quick Installation Wizard 3.1.1 WAN Parameters AWL700 provides three ways to have an IP address i n its WA N inter face – Fi xed IP , DHCP Client , and PPPoE. The r e are three radio boxes in this configuration page and you can choose the one, whi ch is suitable for your access envi ronment.
BENQ Corporation 9 Username – When you ap ply f or a PP PoE ser vice fr om your ISP, they will give you a set of username and passw ord for the purpo se of login. You can fill your username from your I SP in this i nput fie ld. Password – You can fill yo ur password from yo ur ISP in this input f ield.
BENQ Corporation 10 ESSID – The ESSID is a unique ID given to th e Access Point. Wireless clients associating to th e Access Point mus t have th e same ESSID. The ESSID can have up to 32 characters. Channel – You may select any of the available ch annels as an operational channel for your Acce ss Point.
BENQ Corporation 11 Select the TX Rates set among the follo wing op tions, (1 – 2 - 5.5 - 11 Mbps) or (1 - 2 Mbps). Preamble Type – Preamble is the first sub field of PPDU, which is the appropriate frame format for transmission to PHY (Physical layer).
BENQ Corporation 12 3.2.2 Status In AWL700, you can search system informatio n in “Status” page. AWL700 divides this page into two parts, one is for WAN i nformat ion , and the other is for LAN information. This information is quite us eful for users to see if system is in a right status.
BENQ Corporation 13 3.3.1 DNS Setup In “DNS Setup” page, user can input two DNS servers that AWL700 can use these two servers to complete its DNS relay function.
BENQ Corporation 14 Default Gateway – Tell hosts where they can deliv er their packets if they do not know how to deal with those packets. In fact, it should be the AWL700 itself . Netmask – Tell hosts their ne tmask. Name Server 1, 2, 3 – A W L 7 0 0 w i l l o f f e r D N S s e r v e r to its hosts to help ho sts activate their DNS function.
BENQ Corporation 15 NAT is a mechanism that can convert your pr ivate IP addresses into single public IP address. In AWL700, we do off er dynamic NAT, static NAT, and NAPT functions. Dynamic NAT means that you can assign a range of private IP addresses to map to a range of public IP addresses in the WAN in terf ace.
BENQ Corporation 16 Protocol – Which protocol type do es the server provide? Service Name – 10 characters to name this se rvice Port Number – The p ort, which is opened to others in the Intern et side.

Number of Address – Limits the range that co nfigur ed by users. If you have ten I P addresses to be mapped to private IP ad dresses, you can limit this range to 10.

If you woul d like to forward packets to a specific host, you can add a static route for that host. Network Address – Host or network tha t you woul d like to forward your packets Netmask Address – Networ k mask.

LAN Interface – Enable RADIUS authentication th rough MAC address of Ethernet LAN card. EAP Authenticate Parameter Wireless Interface – Enable EAP-MD5 cert ification for wir eless interface.
BENQ Corporation 23 authentication requests. Radius Secr et Key – For key string, specify the authentication and encryption key used between the Authenticator and the RADIUS daemon running on the RADIUS server. The key is a text stri ng that must match the encryption key used on t he RADIUS server.

And user could add mo re user account to differentiate their access right. Administrator t ype give highest rights includi ng reading web page, writing web page and adding user account.
BENQ Corporation 25 3.5 Save Setting If you have already configur ed your AWL700 and wished to save your conf iguration, please select “Save Sett ing” page to save all your config urations. Please note that, after you have saved you configu r ations, AWL700 will prompt “Reboot System” page to notify you to reboot your system.
BENQ Corporation 26 3.7 Upda te Firmwa re AWL700 provides firmware upda te function by your web browser . If users would like to change their firmware vers ion, they can do this by choosing the newe r or older firmware file in their PC, th en push the “Upgrade” button to begin the updating process.

BENQ Corporation 28 3.9 Load Default Setti ng Every AWL700 will ha ve its default setting when it is shipped to users. This ca n prevent users from corrupting the co nfigurations and making AWL700 function abnor mally. If this situation ha s occurred, you ca n go to this page and try to load AW L700’s default setting.
