Page 4 6104BAFG R0 6 Do NOT Alter the Original Burner Design Maintain the design to its original con fi guration. Only use parts speci fi ed for AF or AFG Burners Do NOT remove the air guide from the AFG chassis. Do NOT use ‘M’ Series air tube combinations on AF Burn- ers.

This equipment must be installed, ad- justed and put into operation only by a quali fi ed individu- al or service agency that is: Licensed or certi fi ed to install and provide tech- nical service to oil heating systems.
Page 6 6104BAFG R0 6 Carefully inspect the chimney or exhaust vent system. Make sure it is properly sized and in good work- ing condition. Follow the instructions supplied by the appliance manufacturer .
6104BAFG R0 6 Page 7 Inspect/Prepar e Installation Site Combustion air supply The burner cannot properly burn the fuel if it is not supplied with a reliable combustion air source. Follow the guidelines in the latest editions of the NFP A 31 and CSA-B139 regarding providing ad- equate air for combustion and ventilation.

6104BAFG R0 6 Page 9 If the nozzle is already installed, remove the noz- zle line assembly to verify that the nozzle size and spray pattern are correct for the application (per ap- pliance manufacturer ’s information). V erify that the electrode tip settings comply with Figure 3.
Page 10 6104BAFG R0 6 1-3/8” 1-1/8” Check/Adjust ‘Z’ Dimension - ‘F’ heads 1. The important ‘Z’ dimension is the distance from the face of the nozzle to the fl at face of the head (or heat shield, if applicable). This dis- tance for F heads is 1- ⅛ ” (1- ⅜ ” if the air tube has a heat shield).

(This may also be required to aid proper control system opera- tion.) Perform all wiring in compliance with the Na- tional Electrical Code ANSI/NFP A 70 (Canada CSA C22.

6104BAFG R0 6 Page 15 6. Run : The fl ame is sustained until the call for heat is satis fi ed. The burner is then sent to Motor-Off Delay , if applicable, or it is shut down and sent to Standby .

If the fl ame is lost while the burner is fi ring, the control shuts down the burner , enters a 60 second recycle delay , and then repeats the above ignition sequence. If fl ame is lost three times in a row , the control locks out to prevent cycling with repetitious fl ame loss due to poor combustion.
Page 18 6104BAFG R0 Make connections to the control’s terminals as shown in Figures 1 1a and 11 b . Refer to the label on the un- derside of the control for wiring details. Note: Motor-off delay on a 7505P will be disabled if the safety and operating limits as shown in Figures 1 1a and 1 1b interrupt power to the control terminal L1.
6104BAFG R0 Page 19 Startup / Checkout If the burner or control fails any of the following tests, recheck control wiring. If the burner or control still fails any tests, replace the control. Check Safety Features Safe Start Check Place a jumper across the cad cell terminals.
Page 20 6104BAFG R0 Step 4: Recheck smoke level. It should be Zero. This procedure provides a margin of reserve air to accommodate variable conditions.
