How T o Get The Maximum Efficiency From Y our Appliance 1. Fill salt cabinet when water le vel is abo ve salt le v el. DO NO T MIX DIFFERENT TYPES OF SAL T . If iron is present in your w ater , use a salt with an iron-cleaning additiv e to help keep resin clean.
3 Checklist Before Installation 1. W ater Pressure - Not less than 20 psi constant f or softeners. 2. Double chec k hardness - of water with test strips provided to v erify that your appliance is right for the job . SOME DO'S 1. Do comply with all local plumbing and electrical codes. 2. Do install pressure-reducing v alve if inlet pressure e xceeds 90 psi. 3. Do install gra vity drain on salt storage cabinet. See figure 7. 4. Do secure drain line on appliance and at drain outlet.

12 Installation And Start-Up Procedures 8. Setting Number . For Models 700, 900 , and 550 f or municipally-supplied water , deter mine your controller setting n umber . Do not guess at the setting; continued w ater quality problems or damage to the appliance could result.
Setting The 4 Button Controller 13 DEMAND REGENERA TION Y ou won't hav e to worr y about v acation settings or extra guests because the controller measures water usage and regener ates based on need. The appliance will regenerate using only the neces- sar y amount of water and salt.
14 Setting The Controller - Continued AD V ANCED CUST OMER SETTINGS: Y our appliance can be programmed f or High Capacity (HC) or High Efficiency (HE). High Capacity means the appliance will regenerate less often, b ut use more salt. High Efficiency will make the appliance regenerate more often and use less salt.
