4 20 Completing the First-Time Setup The first time y ou turn on the TV , the Setup App will guide you thr ough each of the steps necessary t o get your TV r eady for use. Bef or e you begin the first-time setup: • Y our TV should be installed and the po wer cor d should be connect ed to an electrical outlet.
5 21 Using the On-Screen Menu Y our TV featur es an easy-to-use on-scr een menu. T o open the on-screen men u, pr ess the MENU button on the r emot e. Y ou can also open the on-scr een menu by pr essing the VIA butt on and selecting HDTV Settings fr om the VIA Dock, then pr essing OK .
5 22 CHANGING THE INPUT SOURCE Ext ernal devices such as D VD players, Blu-Ray Play ers, and video game consoles can be connect ed to y our TV . T o use one of these devices with y our TV , y ou must first change the input sour ce in the on-scr een menu.
5 23 SETTING UP CLOSED CAPTIONING Y our TV can display closed captions f or pr ogr ams that include them. Closed captions display a tr anscription of a pr ogr am’ s dialogue. If the pr ogram y ou are vie wing is not being br oadcast with closed captions, the TV will not display them.

ACTIVATING THE SLEEP TIMER When activ ated, the TV’ s sleep timer will turn the TV of f after a set period of time.
5 25 • Mo vie mode sets the pictur e settings to v alues perfect f or watc hing a movie in a dark r oom. • Game mode optimizes the pictur e settings f or displaying game console output. • Vivid mode sets the pictur e settings t o values that pr oduce a brighter , mor e vivid pictur e.
5 26 • Ambient Light Sensor - The ambient light sensor det ects the light lev els in the room and aut omatically adjusts the backlight f or the best pictur e. 5 27 Adjusting the Pictur e Size and Position When displaying an image fr om the HDMI or RGB input, the size and position of the display image can be adjust ed. T o adjust the picture size and position: 1 . Ensur e the input is set t o HDMI or RGB . 2 .

5 32 T esting Y our Netw ork Connection T o test y our network connection: 1 . Fr om the Network Connection menu, highlight T est Connection and pr ess OK . 2 . The T est Connection scr een displays the connection method, netw ork name, signal str ength, and download speed of y our network connection.
5 33 Setting the T uner Mode If y ou are using a de vice that is connect ed to the RF input, such as an ext ernal antenna or cable TV connection, y ou must set the tuner mode. 1 . Pr ess the MENU butt on on the r emote . The on-scr een menu is display ed.
5 34 T o add a single new analog channel: 1 . Fr om the T uner Settings menu, highlight Add Analog Channel and pr ess OK . The Add Analog Channel menu is displa yed. 2 . Highlight Enter Channel # and use the Number Pad on the r emot e to ent er the number of the channel y ou ar e adding.
5 35 Changing the A udio Language Some digit al fr ee-to-air and cable c hannels br oadcast pr ogr ams in mor e than one language. The TV’ s MTS (Multichannel T ele vision Sound) f eatur e allows y ou to listen t o audio in your pr eferr ed language.
5 36 Enabling or Disabling Pr ogram Ratings T o manage progr am cont ent according t o its r ating, y ou must enable the Pr ogram Rating f eature . T o enable or disable the Progr am Rating f eatur e: 1 . Fr om the Par ent al Contr ols menu, highlight Rating Enable and pr ess OK .

5 39 Adjusting the CEC Settings The CEC function on y our TV enables you t o contr ol HDMI-connect ed devices with the included r emote without an y additional pr ogramming . Not all HDMI devices support CEC. See your device’ s user manual f or details .
