Instruction s on inserting a PCI card ar e also given. T ake note of the pr ecautions mentioned in this section when installing your system.

Working on a system that is connected to a power supply can be extr emely danger ous. Follow the guidelines below to avoi d damage to the T ank G T25 or injury to yourself.
Chapter 2: Settin g Up 21 2.1 Rack Mounting After inst alling the necessar y components, the T ank G T25 can be mounte d in a rack using the supplied ra ck mounting kit. 22 Chap ter 2: Sett ing Up Installing the Inne r Rails to Chassis 1. Screw the mo unting ear to each side of G T25 as shown using 2 screws from the suppl ied screws kit. 2. Draw out th e inner r ails from rail assembly . Install inner rails to left and rig ht sides of chassis using 2 M4-5L(D) screws for each side.
Chapter 2: Settin g Up 23 2. Lo cate the fron t and rear bra ckets. 3. Reser ve 90mm for G T25 on the front b r acket. Secure the front bracket to outer ra il with 2 M4-4L(C) screws. 4. Reserve the dist ance same as in S tep 2 on rear bracket. Secure the rear bracket to outer ra il with 2 M4-4L(C) screws.
24 Chap ter 2: Sett ing Up 5. Secure the ou ter rail to the rack using 2 bracket s and 4 M4-8L( E) screws fo r each s ide (A). Secure th e mou nting brackets from inside, not outside, of the rack (B) .
Chapter 2: Settin g Up 25 Rackmounting the Server 6. Draw out the middl e rail to the latch position. 7. Lift the chassis an d then in sert the inner slide rails into the middle ra ils. 8. Push the chassis in and press the latch key (A). Then push the whole system into the rack (B).
26 Chap ter 2: Sett ing Up 9. Secure the mounting ears of chassis to the rack with 2 M4-15L(F) screws. Note: T o avoid injury , it is strongly recomm ended that two people lif t the G T 25 into the pla ce while a third person scre ws it to the rack.
Chapter 2: Settin g Up 27 2.2 Installing Moth erboard Components This section describes how to ins tall component s on to the motherboard, including CPU, memory module s, and PCI card. 2.2.1 Removing the Chassis Co ver Follow these instructions to remove the T ank G T25 chassis cover .
28 Chap ter 2: Sett ing Up 2.2.2 Installing the Memory Follow these instructions to in st all the memory modules on the motherboar d. Note: Th ere are 12 DI MM memo ry slots available. When installing RAM in both slots, begin installation from DIMM1 and inst all in sequence according to the slot number .
Chapter 2: Settin g Up 29 4. Align the me mory mo dule with t he slot. Wh en inser ted properly , the memory slot locking levers lock auto mati- cally onto the indent ations at the ends of the module . For optimal system operation, ple ase install memory in p airs .

Chapter 2: Settin g Up 33 2.2.4 Installing the PCI-X Card Follow these instructions to install a PCI-X card. 1. Push the t ab of PCI-X slot on the rear panel in the di rec- tion as shown to release the I/O shield. 2. Move the I /O shield to right as show n and take off the I/O shield.
34 Chap ter 2: Sett ing Up 2.3 Installing the Ex ternal Hard Drive The G T25 chassis kit support s external SA T A/SAS hard drives. Follow these instructions to inst all an external SA T A or SCSI hard drive. 1. Press the locking lever latch in the direction of arrow ( A ) and then pull th e locking lever open ( B ).

36 Chap ter 2: Sett ing Up 2.4 Installing the Slim FDD (Optional) 1. Loca te the two FDD rails and screws from the FDD kit. Secure the two rails to the FDD using four screws. 2. Connect the FFC cable to the FDD. 3. Using a scr ew driver to pull open the door of the FDD tray .
