Secure th e uppe r handle and l ower handle with th e two 4. wing nut s and carr iage bo lts remove d earlier. Tighten the two w ing nuts alr eady inst alled in th e upper h oles to f irmly secure th e uppe r handle and sup por t tube s. See Figur e 3- 2.
Place chute assembl y onto chute base as shown in Figu re 3-5. Make sure that the chute notches e ngage wi th the spiral en d of chute direc tion al control, and the t wo f lang e keeper s are bene ath the f lange on th e chute base. Secure f lan ge keep er removed earli er with lo ck nuts and s crews.
Auger and Driv e Control Cables W AR NING ! Prior to op erating your snow thrower, caref ully read an d follow all inst ruc tions be low . Perf orm all adjus tments to ver if y your snow thrower is oper ating safe ly and pro perly.
W AR NING ! Do not over-tighten the cab le. Over- tightening may prevent the aug er from dis engaging and comprom ise the saf et y of the snow thrower. If adjus ting the auge r cable, threa d the lock nut d own to 4. length en the cab le as necess ar y to stop the au ger from turning w hen the control is re lease d.

T w o - Wa y Chute Control ™ The t wo -way chute control is l ocated o n the lef t sid e of the dash pane l and is used to contro l the dista nce of snow discharge f rom the chute. T o change the up per chute angl e to control the dist ance • that snow is thrown, pi vot the lever for ward o r back ward.

Operating Tips NOTE : Allow the engin e to warm up for a f ew minutes. Th e engine w ill not develop f ull power until it re aches op erating temperature. W AR NING ! The temp erature of th e muf f ler and the surroun ding areas may excee d 1 50° F .

Loosen t he two nu ts which s ecure the chute b racket and 1 . repositi on it slightly. Refer to Figure 6 -5. Retighten th e nuts. 2. Drive Con trol Refe r to “ Au ger an d Dr ive Cont rol C ab les ” of the Asse mbly & Se t-Up - Sec tion 3 f or instru ctio ns to adjust the dri ve control.
Belt Replac ement Belt Remo val Preparation Disconnect the chute crank assembly at the discharge 1 . chute end by remo ving the hairpin clip and the f lat washer . Refer to Figure 7 - 1 . Remove the hex screws and lock nuts securing the 2 . for ward end of the suppor t tubes to the back of the auger housing, and pivot the tubes upward.
Slip the auger con trol b elt ( the f ront belt) off the engine 2. pulley . Pull the 3. brake bracket as se mbly towards t he c able guide roller and unhook the auger cable “Z” f it ting. Refer to Figure 7 -5 . F rom b oth sides of the frame assembly , use a 1 /2" 4.
If also replacing the drive belt, proceed to the “Drive 1 1 . Belt ” instruc tion. If not, reposition the transmission frame back onto the auger housing. Install the drive belt on the engine pulley , re -connec t the auger cable “Z” f itting and auger idler ro d ferrule to the brake bracket.
Slide the bearing onto the left e nd of the hex shaf t and 1 4. press int o the ho le on the lef t side the frame. Plac e the b elleville washer ( rounded side toward head) 1 5. onto the hex screw remov e d earlier , and insert the screw int o the threaded ho le of the hex shaf t.
Of f- S eason S torage If the snow throw er will not be use d for 30 days or longer , the equipment needs to be stored prop erly . Follow storage instructions be low to ens ure top per formance from the snow thro wer for many more years.
