SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWER NOTE: All refer ences to right or left side of th e snow thrower are de termined from behind th e unit in the operating posit ion. The “operator ’s position” is defin ed as standing direct ly behind the snow thrower, facing the handle panel.
NOTE: If the connecto r is not properly assem bled, the shift rod will pivot and you will not be able to change speeds or change directions. Attaching Chute Assembly (Hardw are Group A) • Place chut e assembly o ver chute opening, with the opening in the ch ute assembly fac ing the front of the unit.

• With the traction contr ol released, make sure there is clearance between the f riction wheel and the drive plate in all p ositions of the shift lever. • With the traction contr ol lever engaged, make sure the friction wheel solidly cont acts the drive plate.
Adjust skid shoes as follows: • Loosen, but do no t remove, the three hex nuts which fasten the skid shoe to the au ger housing. • Raise or lower the skid shoe to desired position. • Retighten the hex nut s loosened earlier. • Repeat on t he other side of the snow thrower.
IMPORT ANT: To relieve pressu re , always remove the vent plug before lubri cating the gear case. See Figure 14. Failure to do so could result in damage to the gear case seals. Figure 14 Discharge Chute The base of the di scharge chute and th e spirals on the chute crank should be lubricate d at least every 25 hours of use.
SECTION 7: SERVICING YOUR SNOW THROWER WARNING: Before servicing, repairing, or inspecting, diseng age all clutch levers and stop engine. Wait until all moving parts have come to a complete st op. Disconnect spark plug wire and gro und it against the eng ine to prevent unintend ed starting.
