EN 12 9) Using the touch screen Scrolling The home screen of your SurfT ab ex tends two pages to the right and left of the middle window . T o reach these pages, slide your finger from left to right (or the reverse) across the scr een.
EN 13 Selecting an element T o open an element or select an option, br iefly touch the icon you requir e with your finger . i If you want to close a rec ently used element (app, widget, menu), tap the display of all open elements. Place y our finger on the element that you want to close and drag the element down to close it.
EN 14 Enlarging and r educing the view T o enlarge the display , move two fingers apart on the screen or tap the display twice in quick succession. Conversely , move two fingers towar ds each other on the screen to reduce the displa y again.
EN 15 10) P ersonalising the home screen Y ou can set up the home screen (as well as the four additional pages) according to your wishes by adding or remo ving app shor tcuts and widgets and altering the background. Adding apps to the home scr een a) T ap the applications menu in the quick start bar on the home screen.
EN 16 Changing the screen backgr ound a) T ouch an empty area of the screen background until a window with the message " C hoose W allp apeR fRom " appears. b) Now tap the relevant icon to choose which source you would like to select the background motif from.
EN 17 d) Confirm with " s et up noW " . The lock screen appears . f ) As soon as you have unlocked the screen, a configuration assistant will start.
EN 18 14) Connecting to the Internet via 3G The 3G function on your Sur fT ab means that you are independent of available WiF i networks and can connect to the I nternet via a data card. Inser ting the SIM card a) Switch off your Sur fT ab completely.
EN 19 e) Now push the tray with the inserted micro SIM card into the micr o SIM card slot. When you hold the tray , the golden contacts on the micro SIM card should face the rear side of the device. i The illustration on the SIM c ard slot on the rear side of the device pro vides fur ther assistance in inserting the SIM card.

EN 21 15) Setting up/removing an email account Setting up an email account a) Mak e sure that your SurfT ab is connected to the Internet. b) T ap the email icon in the quick star t bar or in the applications menu. c) Enter a valid email address in the upper input field and the associated password in the lower input field .
EN 22 16) Installing/uninstalling apps Downloading and installing apps Thanks to Google Play™ access, y ou can add apps, widgets, prog rams and eBooks to your SurfT ab to supplement those that come pre-installed. The Play Stor e app is already installed on your SurfT ab.
EN 23 17) Using the camera T ap the camera icon in the applications menu or in the quick star t bar . The following scr een appears: T ak ing a photo Several modes are available for taking a photo . Smile recognition (15 A ) The camera automatically takes a photo when it recognises a smiling face .
EN 24 F ace recognition (15 C) The camera recognises human faces and automatically f ocuses as soon as it has recognised a face. The focus will follow the r ecognised face; you merely need to press the shutter release butt on (15 I). i In this mode, you c an switch between the rear and front camer as.

EN 26 18) Connecting other devices Connecting the Sur fT ab to a computer a) Connect the Sur fT ab to your computer with the micro USB cable pr ovided. b) A shor t moment later , the memory of the Sur fT ab will be shown as an external drive in your computer’ s file explorer .
EN 27 Connecting to a television via Miracast™ Miracast technology is a peer-to-peer standard for image transf er . The Sur fT ab supports this standard and enables wireless transfer of image and sound from the Sur fT ab to a W iFi and Miracast-enabled television device.
EN 28 19) Activating standby mode If you do not want to use your SurfT ab for a while, press the on/off swit ch briefly to put the SurfT ab into standby mode and save power . T o exit standby mode, briefly press the on/off switch again. Once you have reactivated the SurfT ab, it will initially display the lock screen.
EN 29 e) A little while later , the recovery mode menu is displayed. Y ou can now release the "volume +" button. f ) Use the volume control buttons t o navigate through the menu, and use the on/off switch to select an option. i T o restore the Sur fT ab to its factory state, select the " wipe da ta / F actory reSet " option.
