9 Preface Thank you for purc hasing the T oshiba Multif unctiona l Digital Systems e-STUDIO352/452. This Operator ’s Manual describes the foll owing: • How to use the Multifunctional Digital Systems. • How to inspect and carry out maintenance on the Multifuncti onal Digital Systems.
10 Features of the e-STUDIO352/452 The e-STUDIO352/452 is a Mu ltifunctional Digital System s that is capable of us ing each function via net- works. The e-STUDIO352/452 a lso has various optiona l paper handling devices to meet the needs of your office.
11 General Precautions When inst alling or moving Wa r n i n g • This Multifunctional Digital Systems requires 220 to 2 40 V AC, 8 A 50/60 Hz electric power . For Saudi Arabia 100 V version, it requires 127 V AC, 12 A 50/60 Hz electric power . Do not use a power supply with a voltage other than that specified.
12 General Precautions (Cont.) Caution • Do not tilt the Multifunctional Digital Systems more than 10 degrees whe n moving it. If it falls, this could result in personal injury . • Avoid placing the Multifunctional Digital Systems in a place unsuitable for its weight and also make sure the surface is level.
13 Other point s • Make sure that there is enough space around the sys tem to facilitate changing of parts, maintenance and clearing paper jam. If there is insufficient space, some operations, such as bypass f eeding, will become dif ficult and the Multifunctional Digital Syst ems coul d even break down.
14 General Precautions (Cont.) When using the Multifunc tional Digit a l Systems Wa r n i n g • Do not place metallic objects or containers with wate r (flower vases, coffee cups, etc.) on or near the Multifunctional Digital Systems. An d keep paper clips and staples away from the air vent.

16 General Precautions (Cont.) Other point s • Be very careful to treat the touch panel gently an d never hit it. Breaking the surface could cause mal- functions. • Do not turn the power OFF with jammed paper lef t inside the Multi functional Digital Systems.
17 During maintenance or inspection Wa r n i n g • Never attempt to repair , disassemble or modify th e Multifunctiona l Digital Systems by yourself. Y ou could cause a fire or get an electric shock. Always contact your Service representative for mainten ance or repair of the internal pa rts of the Multi- functional Digital Systems.
18 General Precautions (Cont.) When handling supplies Caution • Never attempt to incinerate toner cartrid ges and toner bags. This could cause an explosion . Do not dis- pose of used toner cartridges and toner bags. Contact your service representative.

27 1 Adjustment of the angl e of the control p anel When adjusting the angle of the control p anel The angle of the control panel is adjustable at any angle betw een 7 and 45 degrees from the horizo ntal position. When changing the angle of the control panel, be careful not to catch your hands in the gap between the equipment and the control panel.

31 1 Clearing functions selected When you press the selected button , the function which ha s been selected is clear ed. Or the selected set- ting is cleared automatically by the automatic function cl ear* when the equip ment has been left inactive for a specified period of time.

Use the buttons on the touch panel for letter entry and us e the digital keys on the control panel for number entry .
33 1 2. T urning Power On / Shut down T urning power on Open the switch cover , and then turn the power switch on. • The equipment starts warming-up. “W ait Warming Up” appears during warming-up. • While the equipment is warming up, you can use the auto job start function.

35 1 User management In the user manage ment function, t he users of the equipment can b e lim ited or the past record of each user can be managed. When the equipmen t is managed und er this function, turn the powe r of the equip- ment ON and enter th e information required (e.

37 1 5 Enter the p assword (maximum 64 le tters) and then press the [ENTER] button. 6 Press the [ENTER] button. The menu will switch and th e equipment will be ready to be used. • If the user information is incorrectly entered, the menu will not switch.

Do not turn the power off by pressing the power switch, otherwi se the hard disk ma y be dam aged. Be sure to confirm the following three poin ts before shut down.
39 1 4 “Shut d own in progress” appears on the menu. After a while, the equipment is shut down. • The power switch automatically returns to the OFF position. Shutting down with th e [ENERGY SA VER] button The equipment can also be shut down by follow ing the procedure below .

41 1 3. Energy Saving Mode This equipment is designed to enter into the energy saving mo de automatically to lower its power con- sumption when a specified period of time has passed since the last use of the equipment (=auto matic energy saving mode).
42 1.BEFORE USING EQUIPMENT 1 4. Setting Copy Paper About the “width” and the “length” of the origin al and the copy p aper Originals and copy paper whose size is A4/B5 can be set in both portrait and landscape directions.
43 1 Accept able copy paper *1 Automatic duplex copying is not available. *2 Use Thick 3 mode for sticker labels. • Multiple paper sizes cannot be set in one drawer . • “Maximum sheet capacity” refers to the maximum number of sheets when T oshiba-recommended paper is set.
44 1.BEFORE USING EQUIPMENT 4.Setting C opy Paper (C ont.) 1 Recommended p aper T o make copies with a fine colour image , the following types of paper are recommended. If you wish to use copy paper other than the recommended types, consul t your service technician.
45 1 Setting copy p aper (size change) When you set or add copy paper in the drawer , follow the procedure below . Placing p aper in the drawer 1 T urn the power on.
46 1.BEFORE USING EQUIPMENT 4.Setting C opy Paper (C ont.) 1 5 While pushing the green lever of the side guide in the directi on of the arrow , set the side guide to th e desired p aper size. • Adjust the side guides with both hands. 6 Push the arrow p art (l ef t side) to lock the side guide.
47 1 8 Push the drawer straight into the equipment until it comes to a stop. • Be sure to close the drawer securely and carefully . Be careful not to let your fingers be caught when closing the drawer. This could injure you. 10 When the p aper size is different fr om the one in the drawer , press the [YES] button.

49 1 Changing the setting of p aper size If the setting of the paper size registered in the equipment does not correspond to the one in the drawer , it could cause a paper jam. In this case, change the sett ing of the paper size according to the following pro- cedure.

51 1 Drawer for special uses When you set paper for special uses other than normal copyi ng (e.g. sheets for cover copying) in the drawer , you nee d to set this drawer for the spec ial use in advance. If the draw er has been set for a specia l use, its indication will change on the touch panel.

Setting Originals Accept able originals Acceptable originals are as follows. *1 Do not place any heavy objects (4 kg or over) on the glass. *2 Some originals cannot be used depending on their paper quality . *3 Be sure to place A5-size originals in the landscape direction.
57 2 Maximum number of sheets for scanning A maximum of 1000 A4 sheets, or up until the memory becomes full can be accepted per 1 copy job. When the number of scanned sheets has exceeded the above limit, a message “The number of originals exceeds the limits.

61 2 Continuous feed mode When the number of originals is too large to be se t at one time, you can previously di vide the originals into sev- eral sets to copy them continuously . T o do so, place the first set of the originals and press the [CONTINUE] but- ton on the touch panel while the data of this set are being scanned.

63 2 2. Making Copies Initial (Default) settings When the power is turned on, when the energ y sa ving mode is cleared, and when the [FUNCTION CLEAR] button on the control panel is pressed, variou s setting items are automat ically se t. These items are called the initial (default) settings.

67 2 Stopping the copying operation Press the [STOP] button on the control pa nel to stop scanning or continuous copying. 2 When the following menu is disp layed, press the [MEMOR Y CLEAR] button on the touch p anel. • During scanning: The data scanned up to then are deleted.

69 2 Confirming and canceling auto job Confirming auto job and canceling job in waiting Press the [JOB ST A TUS] button on the control panel to display the job list fo r confirming the set auto job and canceling a job waiting to be copied. T o cancel auto jobs, see P .

71 2 3. Byp ass Copying Byp ass copying When you want to make copies on OHP film, sticker labels, or non-standard size paper , place the sheets of paper on the bypass tray . Bypass copying is also recommended for copying on standard size paper which is not in any of the drawe rs.

80 2.HOW TO MAKE COPIES 2 4. Proof Copy This function all ows you to check that the copy density , zoom and margin width, etc. are properly set by making only one set of copies. Y ou can preven t miscopying by usin g this func tion before committing yourself to mass-copying.
81 2 6 Change the settings as required. • The setting of the number of the copy sets, page number , time stamp, sort/stapling (when the optional Finisher has been installed) and hole punch (when the optional Hole Punch Unit has be en installed) can be changed.

Paper Selection Automatic Paper Selection (APS) When you place standard size originals on the orig inal glas s or the Reversing Automatic Document Feeder (optional ), the size of the originals is auto ma tically detected, which he lps the equipment select pape r that is the same size as the origi nals.

87 3 Copying mixed-size originals in one go (mixed original size) Y ou can copy a set of ori ginals w hose sizes are individually different, using the Reversing Automatic Do c- ument Feeder (optio nal), by pressing the [MIXED ORIGINAL SIZE] button. • This mixed original si ze setting is ava ilable only in the following combina tions.

95 3 3. Selecting Finishing Modes T ype of finishing mode The available finishing mo des differ depending on the type of finishing device installed (MJ-1024, MJ- 1023, MJ-1022, MJ-6004, MJ-1 101 or MJ-6101). Check the available fi nishing modes with the table below .

(Example of making 5 sets of copies from 5 original sheets) 1. Sort copying 2. Group copying When you use the A3 or B4 size copy paper , pull out the sub-tray in advance.

100 3.SETTING OF BASIC COPY MODES 3.Selecting Finishing Modes (Cont.) 3 Rot a te sort mode In the rotate sort mode, one set of copies is made to exit on another set of copies, being a lternated length- wise or crosswise. The available paper sizes for this mode is A4/A4 -R.
101 3 St aple so rt mode When the Finisher (optional) is inst alled, automatic stapling is enabled. Y ou can select the stapling position from three types. • The paper quantity and weight applicabl e for this mode differ dependi ng on the Finisher in stalled in this equipment.
