3 SETUP – SD-M1711 D VD-ROM The following steps must be performe d to properly install your drive: • Set D VD-ROM Drive J umper Settings: SCSI ID , P arity , T ermination, 512/2K, P ower • Conne.
4 Terminator ON/OFF - This jumper turns termination power ON or OFF. If you are connecting more than one SCSI device to your system, and the DVD-ROM is not at the end of the chain, then terminator jumper is not required. 512/2K (Block Size Selectability) - This jumper is used to select default block size.
5 Audio Cable (optional) - If you ha v e a sound card and speak ers, and w ould like t o play a udio CDs on your computer , you will need to install a CD/D VD audio cab le. T oshiba's D VD-ROM driv es use a standard 4-pin audio cable that ca n be purchased from most local com puter suppliers .
6 Completing Installation After you ha v e connected all the necessary cables, push the D VD-R OM drive completely into the computers drive slot. Mount drive per y our computers instructions. T he screw len gth should not e xceed 30.5mm (measured from outside surf ace of side or bottom of drive to tip of scre w).
7 USING THE D VD D VD-R OM Drive – SD-M1711 Drive Operation Inserting a Disc - Horizontally T o inser t a disc into a driv e that is mounted horizontally , perf or m the follo wing steps: Figure 1.Inserting Disc 1. Open the drive's L oading tra y b y pressing the Eject Button.
8 Removing a Disc T o remove a disc from the D VD-ROM d r iv e, perf or m the follo wing steps: 1. Open the Loading T r a y by pressing the Eject Button. 2. Grasp disc by edges , and lift out of loading tra y . 3. Press Eject Button again to close Loading T ray .
9 Handling Media D VD media is sen sitive to dust an d fingerpr ints. Care fu lly handle media b y its edges only . If a D VD movie skips or hangs du ring playbac k , clean the media. Mo st D VD video pla ybac k issues are media-related and can be remedied b y proper handling and ca re of media.
