- 4 - 1 1 BEFORE USING THE NETW ORK SCANNER FUNCTION ABOUT THE NETW ORK SCANNER FUNCTION When the network ex pansion kit is installed in t he machine, a document or photo can be scanned into an image f ile and sent over a network or the Int ernet to a file server, e-mail destination, or your own computer.
- 5 - 1 SETTINGS AND PR OGRAMMING REQ UIRED FOR THE NETW ORK SCANNER FEA TURE To use the Network Scanner feat ure, settings for the SM TP server, DNS server, and destination add resses must be configured. To configure the sett ings, use a computer that is connec ted to the sa me network as the machine to a ccess the machine's Web server.
- 6 - 1 ABOUT THE WEB P A GE (FOR USERS) When you successfully connect to the We b server in the machine, the following page will ap pear in your browser. A menu frame appe ars on the left side of t he page. When you click an it em in the menu, a screen ap pears in the right fram e that allows you to esta blish setting s for that ite m.
- 7 - BEFORE USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 1 ST ORING SCANNING SETTINGS Sets of scan settings (color mode, resolu tion, file type, etc.) can be stored for us e in various scanning a pplications. Each se t of settings is called a "Scan Mode".
- 8 - BEFORE USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 1 ST ORING DESTINA TIONS To store scanning de stinations, c lick [De stination] in t he Web page menu frame. This scr een can also be used t o edit or delete stored dest inations. ( p.12 ) A total of 200 destina tions* can be stored, includ ing E-mail, FTP, Desktop, and Group d estinations.
- 9 - BEFORE USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 1 Storing destinations for Scan to FTP 1 Click [Destination] in the menu frame of the Web page. 2 Click [FTP]. 3 Enter the destination information. For the settings, see the following table. 4 When you have com pleted all the entries, click [Submit].
- 10 - BEFORE USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 1 Storing destinations for Scan to Desktop The destination for Scan to Desk top is stored by the TO SHIBA Network Scanner To ol Setup Wizard when "Network Scanner Tool" is installed in your computer.
- 11 - BEFORE USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 1 Storing Groups (Scan to E-mail) You can send a scanned image t o multiple e-mail destinatio ns in a single Scan to E-mail operation. I f you frequently transmit to a fixe d group of destinations, you can store the destinations as a group.

- 13 - 1 ABOUT THE WEB P A GE (FOR THE ADMINISTRA T OR) In addition to the menu that appear in the user Web page, the Web page for the administrator also shows menus that can o nly be es tablished by the adm inistrator. A menu frame appe ars on the left side of t he page.
- 14 - BEFORE USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 1 B ASIC SETTINGS FOR NETW ORK SCANNING Click [Network Scanning] in the menu f rame and configure th e required settings. A p assword is required to access this screen. ( p.16 ) These settings should on ly be configured by the network administr ator.
- 15 - BEFORE USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 1 V ARIOUS SER VER SETTINGS The proc edures for using [Qui ck Setup] ar e explain ed he re. [Quick Setup] is used to quickly configure only the required settings for "SMTP", "DNS", an d "LDAP" servers.
- 16 - BEFORE USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 1 PR O TECTING INFORMA TION PR OGRAMMED IN THE WEB P A GE ([P assw or ds]) The settings and information pr ogrammed in the Web page can be prot ected by esta blishing passwor ds (click [Passwords] in the menu fr ame).
- 17 - 2 2 USING THE NETW ORK SCANNER FUNCTION This section explains the procedure for scanning from the machine aft er the network scanner settings have been configured in th e Web page. For the o peration p anel and the parts of the mach ine that are used f or networ k scannin g, see the o peration manual for the machine.
- 18 - USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 2 TRANSMISSION METHODS FOR SCAN T O E-MAIL The e-mail address for a Scan t o E-mail transmission can be en tered manually or selected from e-mail ad dresses stored on an LDAP server. Sending an image by entering an e-mail address manually 1 Press the [MODE SELECT] key to select scanner mode.
- 19 - USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 2 Sending an image by selecting an e-mail address in an LDAP server To use an LDAP server, the LDAP serv er settings must be configured in the Web pag e. 1 Press the [MODE SELECT] key to select scanner mode. The "SCAN" indicator lights up to indicate that scanner mode is selected.
- 20 - USING THE NETWORK SCANNER FUNCTION 2 IMA GE ORIENT A TION AND ST AND ARD ORIGINAL LO ADING ORIENT A TION When using the do cument glass, th e original should be placed face down . Center the origin al vertically on the document glass with the top edge at the left edge of the glass.
- 21 - 3 3 TR OUBLESHOO TING TR OUBLESHOO TING If a problem or questi on arises, try to solve the situat ion using the following information befor e contacting your service technician. Image transmission problems are explained here. For image sc anning problems, see the opera tion manual for the machine.
- 22 - TROUBLESHOO TING 3 DISPLA Y MESSA G ES If a transmission err or occurs when you send a scann ed image, a m essage informing you o f the error and an error code will appear in th e operation p anel on the machine .
- 23 - TROUBLESHOO TING 3 IMPOR T ANT POINTS WHEN USING SCAN T O E-MAIL Be very carefu l not to send image data files that are too lar ge. Your mail server's system administrator ma y have placed a limit on the amount of data that can be sent in one e-mail transmission.
- 24 - 3 CHECKING THE IP ADDRESS To check the IP address of the ma chine, hold down the status button on th e network expansion kit at least 2 seconds to print out a P rinter Sett ing List.

- 28 - DESKT O P DOCUMENT MANA GER CD-ROM (for Windo ws) 4 • When Network Scanner Tool setup is finished, the "Search Setup Wizard" appears. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an index database. For detailed information, see the Desktop Document Manager Installation Guide and Desktop Document Manager User's Guide.
